Harvesting Location Links

Clicking any location link or harvestable location on the map will give you the same menu as before, however if you choose "Harvest Resources" a list of your available harvesters will be shown.

From here you can choose the amount of harvesters to send and send them without having to move from the page you were on.

This will work for all location links (e.g. on map, in mail, in notifications)

Brilliant update!

It would be even more brilliant if it had the distance in big, bold letters. Then we could never again accidentally send our Norweld cotters to Tamarin on an 8-day tour.

Still an epic bit of code!

There's really no reason this couldn't be applied to diplo units with ease, hopefully that is in the works as well.

Wow, if you could use it with diplos, it would be a lot easier to grid search the entire map. Not sure if that would be a good thing or not...

Excellent update, especially for reducing the 'click fest' that came with harvesting.

Indeed including diplos and maybe military would be awesome.

I would suggest including travel time but that may make the interface to bogged down with extra info.

I really like the improvement for the most part, and I'll go ahead and echo what the others are saying about adding Diplo and Army functionality (though I am assuming the Devs have already thought about it).

I do have one problem with this update though, and that is the added complexity to sending harvesters in advanced. While the map drop down menu (for all options, not just Harvest) is set up to only give you the options that are normally applicable (I assume to prevent clutter), I find it to be a more effective use of my time to send a group of Skinners out at the same time as my Cavalry troops at an NPC mob, so that I wouldn't have to wait until after the mob died to send my Skinners. Unfortunately, we only get the option of Harvest when there is a resource currently on the square. With the old page, I can at least input new coordinates into an arbitrary harvest page for another resource in order to get the results I wanted, but I'm not able to access that page without opening the Harvest link in a new tab now. Minimal extra work that I'll get over, but could we instead see the Harvest link for all squares on the map, not just ones with resources on them?

Best update ever! I no longer have to deal with lag and my harvesting time has been reduced from hours to minutes a day. I can finally harvest at a hundred different locations with little effort. Thank you and keep up the good work. :)

You can click the location in the notifications panel, or on the notification communications page for the same ability (without needing to even look at the map):

when i log in it took me 1min to figure out there was a update. I must say "THANK YOU DEVS" in capital letters as this update is really amazing.
i guess it would take me some time to figure out we could no longer send units to squares that didn't had any anatomies/herbs/minerals but i have to agree as it was a important feature to send cotters to tournaments squares no Mather if there was or not equipment there so as Skinners to a NPC that is about to be killed.
I would prefer that every square could be harvested, but i also believe DEV's can't do this because of a mystery. However giving the option to go to the previous menu would also be great.

i like it!!
added a good feature; BUT, took away important information: NEED DISTANCE!!!!
now to coordinate when to send a harvester I need to do more clicks than I did before the new feature.

I like it. ... except...
I used to say "harvest" on some random square, then flip through my towns to see if I had any unemployed harvesters in any of the towns. This is now slower, but maybe an overview screen is planned? Something like the "Empire" button in IllyTools? Hmm, should this question be addressed to devs or Eaque?

Uhm, actually, that is a pretty good page that I haven't been using at all. Thanks, dspn23! Now, if we could get the information for all towns on the same page?
:D

Nice UI improvement. The only criticism I would have, is that it's difficult to cycle through cities with the available units visible on the form, as one could previously do on the 'Harvest Resources' page.

I so agree with Brandmeister!  Great update, but the old way provided distance information which often acted as a check and prevented me from sending helpless cotters on multi-day, fruitless journeys.  Might you include that information in this new format?  Thank you!

I've been experiencing this too. I often click harvestable squares from my notifications and find myself needing to switch cities. It's no big deal though, just a couple of extra clicks. It would be nice if we could still cycle cities after clicking 'harvest resources' <3
