Fortunately, I was on the true "winning" side.... namely the side that chose to stay out of the war

Well, it is true that traders and generally neutral alliances had a great potential of profit from the war and it is true that all the troops that were expended from both sides cost a huge chunk of time and money, there remains the benefit of all the XP (both in commanders and "XP" as in playing the game) that was gained from both sides which will be a benefit to any upcoming tournament.

One could say that the war turned gold and resources into commander XP and while this is not a direct gain, it could be quite beneficial in the lond run. Smile

It's more the player experience. And it's not so beneficial for the next tournament but for the next war.

This thread is just another example of the way Alliances like [Dark] and [BSH]  are looking to wreck genuine peace negotiations between the major alliances that "actually" fought in the war as opposed to those sat on the sidelines and flamed and trolled like gameplayer of [Dark] and Rorgash of [BSH].  Neither of these players can be described as valiant but they certanly give the impression of being egoistical.

I always felt that if there were any true villains in the  war it was indeed the alliances like Dark and BSH who harbour players who are just out to create mischief.

Regarding villains:  I would state that my opinion of a true villain is a player that hides behind anonymity and threatens training alliances rather than the actual alliance(s) they have a personal beef with.

Well... not sure about the exact count, but the number towns i personally had troops at i think is 7, all which have been razed. might be more as this war has gone on for quite some time and there might have been some more at the beginning i have forgotten about, they were all so weak after all, not really worth remembering.

geez i was more logistics and allowed others to control my troops which i think were used for strategic gains and not just for bullying. oh well some people are just totally clueless in what is actually occurring in the game. grins, but i have to admit that was a pretty good troll flame. huggsssssssssss

You name Dark and BSH, gameplayer and Rogrash "villains". We in Dark committed no atrocities whatsoever. We conducted strategic warfare and targeted mostly the strongest opponents we could find in our area (Vic). We fought valiant, honorable warriors like Daene, Elanor and others and spared others whom we considered a small challenge. I presume that BSH did the same.

gameplayer's troops fought in almost all our battles and tens if not hundreds of thousands of her troops were lost. She most certainly did not sit on the side lines.

I am proud to be a member of Dark. I was not afraid to join in the war because I personally felt like I knew which side I wanted to be on. However, with that said, there are some great people in Consone.

My personal observation is that Illy has some level of a moral value system and there are people willing to enforce these values if necessary. Try sieging or bullying a newer player if you doubt this to be true. I am confident that Dark would not sit idle if this were taking place in our area.

Perhaps there were members on both sides who had perceptions that bullying was taking place. I will not fight over who was right or who was wrong. I will only argue that honor is for those who chose to fight for what they believed to be right. Regardless of which side they were on.

Without villains, there can be no heroes. Think about that before we get on another tangent about "bullies".

Attitudes like Rorgash' and gameplayer's (which are both quite distinct, mind you) frustrated me greatly when I first got here. Now I realized how much color they bring to the community. While I don't think I could stand it if EVERYONE shared their attitude, having a couple troublemakers fuels rivalries and adds to the emotional investment that makes Illyriad such a unique and gratifying experience.
