Reports from Pentateul suggest that a newly established trade organisation, The South Oceans Company of Larn, has been established with royal approval to establish trade links with a previously unknown people, said to be called the Yaraquncha.

Believed to be a jungle-dwelling, human civilisation, the Yaraquncha are said to have welcomed the Company's first voyage warily, but without hostility.

Merchants in Pentateul are downplaying these events, saying that the ocean crossing is far too hazardous for regular trade. However, many suspect that this might open up new opportunities for colonisation, conquest or profit.

Reporters from the Herald have interviewed peoples from across the coastal strongholds to gauge their reactions.

In the Kingdom of Tal, royal officials expressed no surprise, but cryptically noted that "the maritime nation of Tal cannot be expected to be without a strategy in the south."

In Freeport an official announced that "the Illyria Trade Council always welcomes new frontiers for commerce, new sources of profit. And so we invite healthy young people with ambition and resolve to come forward to help us to establish trade centres amongst this new people. Of course, considering the dangers if the ocean crossing, we would prefer to recruit unmarried men and women, whose deaths will not leave widows and orphans begging recompense from us."

Around the tower of Stormstone, babbling prophets and ranters warned that all venturing south should "beware the heirs of the Silver Light", claiming that "for a thousand years he protected us from that evil!", and offering similarly incoherent warnings.

Only in Hanlif did the news cause no surprise. "My grandmother was Yaraquncha," one Windseeker told a reporter. "The winds blow north and the winds blow south, and it carries us as leaves wherever it blows. But perhaps it would be better if nobody had told the people of Larn. The south is not a friendly land. It is a cursed place, a broken land."

Trade with the Broken Lands? I think so.

Looks like it requires trade hubs. That is going to make things very tricky... as you can't trade explicitly with 1 alliance or another via a trade hub. Meaning any resources put to "sell" in TBL will be purchasable by all. Also means that it may be beneficial for everyone's first town in TBL to be a trade town.

That is going to make a very aggressive market, but at the same time no one will have much gold in TBL.

I hope to see legions of training alliance selling all sorts of cheap basic resources in TBL to help encourage new player growth as fast as possible.

Geofrey, people can still post a Buy Order for 210000 clay for 1 gold coin. Their alliance mates could then fill the order. It's not exactly rocket science to make sure a transaction stays within your alliance.

that requires the buyer to have all the trade buildings and research to post the buy order.

Geofrey, it has been stated by the Devs that trading from Elgea to TBL will not be present at the time of release.  They wish everyone in TBL to have an equal start with no outside intervention for an undetermined amount of time.

This entry is either hinting at the event that will allow the discovery (release) of TBL, or is hinting at the future release of Faction quests in Elgea (which will probably come out the same time as TBL and may have something to do with how existing players get there).

You don't need any research other than Haggling in order to place a buy order from your town.

Sadly, Illy doesn't let players fill town buy orders from a trade hub.  I think the speculation (based on the content of the OP) was that all inter continental trade may be through hubs and thus there would not be a method for small southern towns without much gold to trade with a specific hub trader.

"Merchants in Pentateul are downplaying these events, saying that the ocean crossing is far too hazardous for regular trade."
ie; we will not be able to trade

"However, many suspect that this might open up new opportunities for colonisation, conquest or profit."
ie; we will be able to move over there and grow.

Are people really getting so over excited that they are mis-reading this?

I took it to mean there will be a new way to trade between continents that will not be like regular trade.

It seems likely that there will eventually be some level of trade between the continents, probably limited to rare resources and crafting goods.

It has been confirmed that at least for the first months of BL, there will be not trade.  Of any kind.

Maybe we get to throw barrels of res into the sea and hope they land near the coast for us to harvest!

GM Storm stated that there will be no trading of any kind between Elgea and BL for quite some time, if any ...

same as no sending troops overseas from Elgea to BL either ...

Only Magic, if yours has the range is able to span the vast divide ... but

Beware ... there be Dragons ... lol

As a newbie (only now, I believe I'm called a 'noob'? UGH! lol) I am looking forward to this expansion with excitement. It appears that Elgea is FULL and it will be fun to have everyone on the same footing, so to speak. It will be exciting if future expansion plans include ocean voyage as well as the possibility of space travel... (Just sayin'...)
princess-regent,
Iridescent Rivers, Elgea,
khrystle-raine...
