After a brief yet deadly conflict resulting in the loss of over half a million troops, Affirmative Action has yielded to the Black Skull Horde and agreed to the Horde’s peace terms that includes staying out of the Great trove War. Instead of summarizing the events I'v copied several reports from the conflict below to tell our story. Consone War Council: News from The Eastern Front (Meeting Notes) The Black Skull Horde (BSH) enters the Great Trove War by declaring war on Consone alliance World’s End(WE). WE calls for aid against the Horde’s ruthless onslaught of troops. Affirmative Action pledges to not stand by idly while friends suffer and answers the call for aid. Geofrey orders an army comprised of thirteen thousand Dwarven RuneRiders from Dunsinane, led by General Macbeth, to ride swiftly to the aid of the besieged WE city. Macbeth’s Report: We left Dunsinane with the orders to save a city, but all we saw when we arrived was smoke and ashes. The city was burned to the ground, every man woman and child destroyed by the Black Skull Horde. We were too late, the speed of the dwarven Cavalry wasn’t enough. Outside of the burnt city was a sea of orcish spearmen holding up on a small hill. Leftovers from the siege and awaiting orders to return home, we were able to catch them off-guard. We were outnumbered 4 to 1, but the ashes of the fallen city stirred something inside us dwarves and my army rode like rain on a mountain and charged straight into the heart of the enemy ranks. The fighting was fierce but the small hill left little room for spearmen to escape the wrath of Rune Riders. After suffering massive loses I knew retreat wasn’t an option, and the orcs refused to yield. We charged their lines until every last orc was dead. While a victory, it was surely a loss to loose so many good dwarves, having lost 9 out of 10 riders. Mal Motsha spies report in after the attack: Horde Furious. Unannounced attack by A.A. causing uproar. Cheap Victory, BSH won’t stand for it. Horde will invade. Consone War Council, Update from A.A. (Meeting notes) The BSH quickly declared war on Affirmative Action so they could settle the score. In a surprise move the Horde mobilized a large scale invasion of A.A. territory on the Mal Motsha/Keshalia River. Within days after declaring war, Geofrey’s town of Iron Fjord had several incoming BSH armies. The Orc Horde has also already setup 3 occupying armies outside of Geofrey’s city. Affirmative Action’s true military power rested in Zanpur, several days journey from the town of Iron Fjord. Fortunately for A.A., Scouts were able to infiltrate one BSH town and learn that they were preparing a massive siege in the small forest outside of Geofrey’s city. Geofrey had dispatched troops 2 days in advance of troops appearing outside of his city. Armies that had been raised to protect confederate allies were now being used to protect King Geofrey’s own city. Iron Fjord Commander Magnus’ last correspondence with Alliance Capitol: Blackstone: It all happened so fast. We saw orcs coming so we got everyone inside the wall and barred the gates. Only a few thousand of them at first. Nothing we couldn’t handle. But within an hour there was nothing but orcs as far as you could see. A sea of green skin and metal armor, with spears poking up all over the place. They had the North, East, and South exits completely blockaded. We were able to get in friendly reinforcements to the city through the west gate before it was overtaken. And then we saw them. Friendly armies arriving only a few hours after the BSH arrived. Over a Hundred Thousands troops. Cavalry from the plains of Zanpur, Royal Dwarvish Infantry, Bowmen from the southern forest. It would of taken days to get here, those scouting parties must of paid off. Army after army clashed into the Black Skull Horde. Killing 2-3 orcs for every allied troop destroyed. But it wasn’t enough. The Horde always won. We witnessed Commander Thor and his Stormborn Dwarvish infantry in their fancy axes and armor get overtaken by the Horde, but not before taking out 3 times as many orcs. That’s when we knew the Orcs weren’t going away. They didn’t fear death, they lived for it. Waves of warg riders have been spotted on their way to the city, they will make it through the gate, and when they do we don’t have the power to oppose them. I have witnessed the loss of our strongest offense. This city will fall. I do not fear my death, but I hope that the alliance will survive this horrible ordeal. Peace. The Dwarvish fortress was burned and pillaged. All the wealth of the Northern most A.A. outpost lost to the Black Skull Horde. With Affirmative Action suffering the same defeat they tried so hard to save WE from, it was time for peace and rebuilding. Dignitaries from both sides met and Affirmative Action yielded to the Black Skull Horde terms, pulling A.A. out of the war.

We'll need a few months, still mourning the loss of Commander Magnus and his comrades Charles, Essex, Marko, and Darkholme.

Well played sir Geofrey.
However, I would like to remind you that exiting the war and what that entails, must go through H?
I am heartened to see you desire to step out with honor, but it still must go through proper channels.
We can state a pause of actions against your alliance while this is established, thus honoring our allies agreement with you as you finalize it with H? They are the designated arbiters in this for 'The Coalition'.

Explain why A.A. needs approval from H? in order to surrender from BSH? Is BSH not an alliance that can handle their own business then Belargyle? It seems to me that the only armies that clashed were that of A.A. and BSH and they handled their hostilities as needed.

H? is also at war with AA. So just ending war with BSH does not end the war with H?.

Hmm, so A.A. fights BSH, BSH fights A.A.
A.A. surrenders to A.A. and submits to their terms, but must also submit to H?
Also determined is that DLords and RES now speak for H? as well on all matters?
Regardless it doesn't really matter I suppose. Very epic rundown and much entertainment to be had. In the end it is just a game and everything should be in as good spirit as this.

the terms was leaving the war against the H? Coalition, not helping Consone anymore

| No one speaks fo H? on any matter except H?. However, I understand how H? typically approaches these things as does Belargyle. AA is welcome to ignore our advice - but should not be surprised that the H? war status remains unchanged until AA deals directly with H?. By the same token, Dlords is also at war with AA so I think Belargyle's comments clearly indicate that Dlords will continue to be at war with AA until H? approves a peace deal.
EE should expect to follow a similar path to peace, if and when EE seeks such. Or y'all can ignore all this and wonder why the war will not end.

Oh. And I do enjoy the attempt by Soup members to label this conflict "The Great Trove War".
We, in the Coalition, generally refer to it as The Consone War. It follows the White War, the Valar War, and will have very much the same result as those did. But you did give me a chuckle for trying to make folks think this is about some mineral.

Hang on a minute, we first see it mentioned as Trove War in that thread discussing what to call it by Grego:
Grego wrote:
Trove war |
It's parodied by Bonaparte:
Bonaparta wrote:
How about "Game of Troves" |
It gets some endorsement by GM Luna:
GM Luna wrote:
In the game of troves, you mine or you die? ;) |
And then it mutated into the form we see now, although Grego does make a good point in saying:

Trove is useful. But that's not what the war is about and Soup's effort to deflect and make it seem like this war is about anything but the community standing up to their bullying is amusing...

If I only have 200 spears to stand up to you, that is what I will use. If you burn all my cities to the ground, I will continue to fight on.

I think the H?/White war was a global conflict that eventually became White/Black/MK vs. H?/Ni/Dlord/Goon/Curse/and a few others for a total of 8 alliances, iirc. At that time, excluding Crows, this represented a significant portion of Illy at war.
Illy has had The White War, The TMM War, Champ/?? (what was the name of that Orc alliance?) War, The VALAR War, and now The Consone War. There have been many smaller wars.

I think so Noki. Dark Blight? Was that the name? Waarg Boss was in whatever the alliance was. It started on Christmas day, 2010, iirc. Although it was probably too small to be included in the list of major Illy wars since it was just the 2 alliances (right?).

Also, during this time most of DB's leadership went inactive
Champs soon followed up against the remnants of DB due to a longstanding feud.

TD - being a confused newbie at the time of the White War I can't really say I payed much attention to the war, however I do know that back then siege options were still in many respects being polished off by the devs, and options such as T3 buildings, sovereignty, commander levels and variables such as military experience and the magnitude of present day Illyriad really make the two quite different in most respects.
I think the intensity on the personal player level was a lot more tangible back then when the player base was still small and concentrated, when the forums were not regulated, but the scale has increased a lot since then in player size, numbers and impact.

T3 bldgs did not exist. Siege was not even available until a couple of months into the war. Sov was introduced just a couple of months before the war concluded. The only change in Cmdrs is the special 15% division bonus was introduced after the White War was concluded.
Yes, accounts, cities and armies were smaller. However, combatants were spread quite far and the war waged for about 6 months with ultimately 11 alliances and a good portion of the active community involved. It was the largest war until the Consone War.
Yes, The Consone War is much larger than the White War. However, that should not be interpreted as the White War somehow being minor or insignificant.

Scale is relative. In the White War, big armies were 5-6K but that was true for everyone. In the Consone War, big armies are 20-30K but that is true for everyone. We all agree that the Consone War is larger than the White War.

this isnt a true war, at least not yet....licks lips thinking of the coming bloodshed, i hope hath is reading this, i am putting on red war paint with gold glitter now....dance dance dancing the war dance. actually this is a new age of illyriad, where war is being used to gain strategic goals...we probably going to see numerous wars and consistent warfare from now on. most of us are realizing that war isnt a doomsday for the game, war is just a neglected part that was seldom played. lets start offering more suggestions to the devs to improve war functions.....battle magic!

Army sizes during White War were smaller than nowadays but exodus of
Diablito and most of his mates had serious consequences on Illyriad in
whole. H? created a myth from this ancient war in which they paint
themselves as victorious peacekeepers, I believe it was misfortune for
good game.
btw, gameplayer would love Diablito's policy :)

who is gameplayer anyway?...obviously he's hiding his IGN..but someone must know.
dont understand why he would come here as an alias, unless its because he feels he can say whatever he likes without perpetrating his IGN.

| Ok hold on, I would agree there is a mystique about the heroism of H? during the White war, however what alliance wouldnt boast about winning against one of the largest alliances on the server?-Furthermore Diablito was a jerk, a poor diplomat and a liar. His alliance supported the idea of farming new players and supported tactics that included completely fabricated reasons to attack ppl at peace. The game is different with him and his alliance dead- but in positive way. The fact that you call this a myth is confusing since the people that were around can attest to the facts of what happened and the characters that you speak about.

What tripe! Were we not victorious? Did we not support Illy's culture of newbie protection for years? Who has supported this culture of new player protection more than H? Are we not supporting it even now by removing the biggest bullies?
Go get some grounding in reality. Your attempts at re-writing history are pathetic at best. You are part of a group that is trying to change this strong Illy culture and the fact that you are failing is the best possible outcome for continuing this wonderful Illy world we all enjoy.

You continually remind people that Illy is "just a game." This is no reason to suggest players not become emotionally charged and invested in it. In fact, the vigor with which people will debate, wage war, and defend their reputation is in my mind one an indicator of Illyriad's success as an MMO.
So long as people limit their targeted emotions to an account's in-game character, and do not extend it to the person behind the keyboard, they have every right to display passion, anger, sadness, jealousy, honor, rage, vengance, etc; some might even find it one of the most enjoyable parts of the game.

Diablito's behavior would have violated the current ToS in many aspects.

H/White war was on a similar magnitude to this one, troop numbers were smaller naturally due to evolution but participation numbers were relative to now. Despite the apparent direction we are headed I must say it has been interesting, neither side has convinced anyone who is "right" nor has the "real" reason for war been defined, I am however much better understanding of Coal's opinion and also convinced there is more than one angle of origin. It matters little now, military might and nous will decide the outcome just as it always were to be. I still anxiously await the faction release regardless of the result, I see them as the Devs little bundle of joy and one that we may all need to work together at to control them.

Illy is not "just a game". That would be like saying an opera is just a song. Please stop repeating that hollow, tired trope. And for the love of Zeus, stop trying to dictate how people should have "fun". No one needs you to tell them how to have fun. They're already having it, otherwise they wouldn't be sticking around.

Bahahaha! I don't want to derail this thread but I look forward to my demise. If you are, in fact, serious, just do me a favor and leave the alliances out of it. CAVE needs not suffer due to your...um, crush, on me?

well all in all, its a game i have invested quite abit of real money into, and hundreds upon hundreds of RL hours in. maybe you havent and so its not important what happens to the game.
Its a game sure but its also something many have put a sh*t load of time into. really the separation from playing games and real life is one of the most stupid things i keep hearing from some people. I use my "real" life to earn money buy computer parts and games and i play. thats all i use my "real" life for.
I play games in Real life!
(oh an Luna, clearly the topic is evolving, let it do so, no need to force us to create lots when one evolves and develops into what it is, if people dont want to follow one posters direction he will be ignored by the masses anyway)

Nokigon, if you need any help recollecting the facts of that one, I'll be more than happy to help your memory the best I can. I'll be waiting for your impartial report on that little skirmish we had back in the day.
Well, that will be a little strange because history is usually written by the victors, no? |
I do enjoy a bit of History written by the Losers. Still, the facts are quite simple. You intervened in a war between us and BOK.... We held a grudge.... Declared war on Christmas Day... You joined the Crows.... We lost. http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/db-vs-champ_topic4651.html" rel="nofollow - http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/db-vs-champ_topic4651.html

Smart man... The histories of Illy don't belong in the comment section of an A.A. war report.
