The Divine Scavenger Hunt! Greetings good people of Illyriad! The Kaendran Crows have decided to celebrate the holiday season with a divine scavenger hunt! This contest will be open to all players below 30k pop. To enter into the contest please submit entries here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtetXfSciu_PdERsXzZuTDdwQVp6V2hYZE9VUjdIYkE#gid=0 We will be restricting entries to 20 players in each league. The leagues are as follows. League 1: 0 - 5000 League 2:5000 -10000 League 3: 10000 - 30000 You can apply for competing in a higher league with bigger players. But league changes will not be allowed once the tourney is decided. The population limit criteria has to be met during the start of the tourney. You can go above or below it once the tourney has started. The contest will run from 19th December to 24th December. As is the nature of our alliance, we believe in players having a choice in everything they do. Even if it makes things complicated, cause it's fun! As a result we have decided to give winners a choice in the prizes too. Why? Because we can! Behold, one of the most complicated prize systems ever! First place of every league gets : A. 4 silversteel chain B.Choice between 4 silver steel items (swords/spears) or 10 composite bow/10 spiked sword/10 razor edge spears C. Choice between 60 nimble warhorses/heavy war horses. D. 10 mn gold. Gold Medal Second Place of every league gets: A.2 Silversteel chain B. Choice between 2 silver steel items (spear/sword) or 5 composite bow/5 spiked sword/5 razor edge spears. . C.5 Vanguard chain and a Choice between 30 nimble war horses/heavy war horses. D.5 mn gold. Silver Medal Third Place of every league gets: A. Choice between 1 silver steel items (spear/sword) or 3 composite bow/3 spiked sword/3 razor edge spears B. Choice between 10 nimble war horses/heavy war horses C. 2 mn Gold. Bronze medal. The rules are as follows. Each league will be given 3 target cities across the map. Players will have to set up blockades around these cities. Players are encouraged to attack other blockades. Of course if you are in the same alliance, you will not be able to attack each other. You’ll have to figure that out between yourselves. This is an individual tournament, not an alliance tourney. Every day at a random time, vans will be sent out from cities with no blockade running researched and will contain some items from the scavenger list to these cities. The person who captures the van, captures the resource from the van and will have that item ticked off his list. The resources may be resent and you may end up capturing more number of vans but all may end up with the same resource spread. Or you may capture one van which may have 5-6 different resources. At the end of the day, winning depends on the number of items ticked off the list, not the number of vans captured. The hunt will last over 10 days and players will be divided by leagues. At the end of it, the top 3 players from each league who get the most number of items off the list will be declared the winners. Prizes: We will try to deliver the prizes immediately.There may be a wait time involved in case of silversteel items :). |

I think at least some of the probability of items evading a blockade is based on the research in the city being blockaded. Something to think about in choosing cities to blockade. I don't recommend sending crafted items through blockades to inactive cities, since they cannot be retrieved afterwards by thieves or siege. Sounds great! Hope you have a lot of fun!

After consideration of the participation the leagues have been restricted to 2 leagues. League 2 had a low turnout and only 2 people registered. They have now been clubbed into League 1. Here are the final leagues. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtetXfSciu_PdERsXzZuTDdwQVp6V2hYZE9VUjdIYkE#gid=0 Given the delay on my part, the vans will now be sent out on the following days. 20,21,22,23 (2 day break for Christmas), 26th, 27th and 28th. The winners will be declared on the 29th :). The Target cities are as follows: Vahbiav from STEEL and Kafka from Jolly Sea Doom have been kind enough to volunteer their cities as targets. They have dropped out of their respective alliances to allows people to blockade their cities. League 1: Pratham Mahal, Doosra belonging to Vahbiav and Dandelion Beach belonging to Kafka League 2: Teesra belonging to Vahbiav and Xamagelo Beach and Dandelion Forest belonging to Kafka. Let the blockades begin :)

Many thanks to Vibs for organizing this tourney. Also, I especially thank the players who allowed their towns to be blockaded! This was a great opportunity for me to learn advanced travel and army maneuvers and I look forward to participating again if I get the chance! I congratulate the winners, as well! |
