It is with a heavy heart that I bring to you all some bad news. I was informed by a friend of Durc/Puginator that she has passed away. I was able to confirm but do not want to share any info for sake of her and her friends privacy. I also do not want to dwell on death, but rather on remembering the awesome person we knew. Puggy was one of the friendliest players I ever had in my alliance. She was nice to all and loved to help out. And Durc, the loveable orc, the one that charmed us day in and out in GC. Those 2 accounts made up a very special person that I hold very dear in my heart. I hope that we all will remember and cherish the great moments we all had. Please leave your thoughts and memories below and keep her family in your prayers. Thanks, Fluffy P.S. Please don't argue or say its a rumor here, it would really be a dishonor. |

This is shocking news. I had the privilege of knowing Pug when she was first learning about Illy, and her delight in roleplay was an amazing addition to the Illy community. Puginator was a big help when I first started here in Illy, and Durc was simply "my fav orc". No more "man wif numbers"... Goodbye, my friend -- may you finally find what you were searching for.

Pugs was a member of my alliance KV for a long time as she was starting out and we loved her dearly- Always had something to lighten the mood and a pleasure in AC. Durc/Pug was one of my favorite people in Illy hands down. I will miss our conversations in and out of Illy. Mostly I will miss the funny stories and laughs that we shared. My thoughts are with her friends and family as they traverse this difficult time. My wish for them is that they remember her sense of fun and laughter when their hearts are heaviest. | This is sad and shocking news. I knew Pug when she first came to Illy and I remember when she created Durc. She was a kind and funny person who warmed the hearts of those privileged to know her. Illy and GC will be poorer for her loss but I know that folk here will cherish her memory. |

What to say? Durc certainly brought new life to the orc race in Illy, I think Durc actually made most of us like that race for a change  Durc, you will sorely be missed by all of us. This news is simply heart wrenching, and it is players like these who are the true backbone of any great game.
I didn't know her myself, never exchanged any words with her. But I loved her humor and the way she roleplayed her little orc in GC.
Durc Orc, you will be greatly missed, wish you had been able to complete that degree in Crime Scene Investigation Technologies.
My sympathies to family and friends.

Every now and then someone comes into your life and adds something, and asks no price, nothing to reciprocate, no favours to be called in later. Durc/Puginator was this type of person. Brightened was my day when she came into AC. Newbs were provided for, before they asked, and topics were debated with neither fear nor favour. But it is not for me to continue to be selfish. we must be responsible and let those in he next life be enrichened by the one we call Durc. It is a with a happy heart that i know she goes before me, paves the way, sets the scene, for when it is my turn to arrive, i know what i shall hear Throm Ka HATH!!! We love you Durc, rest in peace friend ------------- There's worse blokes than me!! |

Illy -- and the world -- have lost a great person, player and presence. I had the pleasure of recruiting Puginator to HugCr in her first couple of weeks in Illy; I remember the first mail I sent her: "I like your style." Truer words were never spoken..Pug came to Illy from years of agressive, cutthroat play in some of those "other" RTS's. In that sense, Illyriad was a place where she intended to turn over a new, kinder and gentler leaf. She not only admirably accomplished that; as she created Durc and then moved Pug onto other alliances, she became one of the most charming, endearing, welcoming players in the game. Beyond my sadness and compassion for all of her family and loved ones who are experiencing such great loss (including her Cavelings), I'm grateful that she shared this time with all of us. I'm humbled that I was able to be a part of her experience in Illyriad. I look forward to honoring her memory, both within Illy and without.

Durc changed my play. She reminded me that giving and mentoring; guiding and fellowship made this game a place I could come to every day and love. I will always cherish the window she shared with me, telling me of her grandmother teaching her to cook on a wood stove. How much she loved her dogs. Her hopes and aspirations for the future. She enjoyed mentoring, and she mothered all her Cavelings, but especially the RL youths. She loved all of the alliances she had been in. She spoke warmly of them all. One of her favorite things she would say; is she would see a player doing well, and then she would say"I helped turn her/his egg" She started a crafter alliance and nothing made her happier, than seeing her Cavelings trading with each other, and happily shouting in AC that they were researching another craft.
And when she changed to Pug: the lighter funnier side came out. Her quick wit and gentle soul were such a refreshing and nourishing presence. On the tail of war and opposition; a warm blush of good spread unto Illy. And her name was Pug. And what came from Pug created Durc. And her splendor in her transparency was unique in all things right and good. I will miss you, my lizard entrails snax eating friend. How I wish, one more time you would pop into gc with"peeking outta cave" and reply to greetings with "okees, and you?". |

Pug/Durc was truly one of Illy's greatest. I am terribly saddened by our (and the world's) lose of her, but I am thankful for the time we had together. She has been a great blessing to me, and all of the memories are something to be cherished. Goodbye Pug/Durc, you are loved and missed. ~Vanerin

Yuh huh. I will miss that leering orc grin in AC, too. Also: * Someone hugs Durc. Durc: ACKKK! Durc was an extremely cool player, up there with the greats in all the RPGs I've played over the years. It took me almost five weeks to pick an alliance. In the end, it was Durc's very chill attitude that finally won me over to Cave. Best Illy decision I could've made. I, too, will miss the funny stories of her grandma, and shootin' squirrels, and how her pug curls up and snores on her pit bull. Durc was really proud of Eagle's First Flight, and like Sliveen said, often mentioned how she "turned some of those eggs". It was our great fortune that she turned her nurturing wisdom to Cave as well. Durc was a kind person who took joy from the simple pleasures of hanging out with her dogs, trying to recruit stray kittens, and cooking good food. Her absence is a great loss to her many friends, to [CAVE] and to all of Illyriad. For myself, I'll remember her by her favorite lyrics from "The Cave" by Mumford and Sons: So come out of your cave walking on your hands And see the world hanging upside down Throm ka, Durc orc. Know that wherever you are, you will be missed. |

I didn't have much interaction with pug but interacted with durc everytime he/she was sighted in GC I will miss our mock fighting in GC sleep well pug/durc till the lord wakes ya to join him

If this is true (I know, I know, it must be and I should accept it), it's too heartbreaking to even think about. I'm sorry to not throw in the towel yet, it's just that it's so hard to accept and I have not found a notice of this in her local papers, so, you know, haven't seen the "truth" for myself. Durc/Pug had such respect for everyone. I remember how excited I was when she started an alliance and allowed me to be the first one to join. My little girl plays Illy, too, and wanted to be in Durc's Cave, and was welcome with open arms, and treated with respect and dignity. She loved my daughter. I know that's crazy for an online relationship, but it's true. I could hear it in her voice when she spoke to us on Skype. I'll never forget that clear pretty voice of hers, and how she laughed with me and my daughter, and, oh God, I remember one of the last things she said was "it is what it is." I guess I'll just have to let that be her message. She was the most entertaining player in Illy, with her wonderful orc talk, and "okees", and "peeks out of cave". Her talent in becoming her character was outstanding. She was an artist, as well, and a writer, and had such an interesting life. This is not fair. Things were about to turn around for "Durc" in RL. How the hell can she be gone? I'm sorry, but to preserve my own sanity, I must wait until I've seen the news with my own eyes before accepting it. That doesn't stop me from crying, though, and my daughter is a mess, too. Heartbroken child sends hug to her beloved Durc Orc. We both send pleas to come back and not be gone. I never knew she was both, so I am saddened doubly by the loss of yet another great Illyriad player. I hope the religious fish of Manannan will make a tasty treat for Durceh Turkeh.. Some things make your day and some things break your day, this has shattered my day. But we all know that she would want us to toast her memory, sing songs in orcish and laugh about her Puginator profile. I will miss both accounts but the person behind it more. RIP - If you do not feel like it, then party with the angels and start your own unique pedigree of pugs in Heaven who had better be there when I come knocking :)

Farewell Durc, One of the peaceful people of the world in both word and deed. As leader of the Cave, you showed us how to enjoy the world of Illyriad in new ways and to enjoy and respect each others as players and people. You tried in every way to make Illyriad as you would have liked the real world to be. You showed kindness, respect, a helpful attitude and a love of the game. Durc and I started Illy around the same time. I knew her most of that time. I remember the first time i saw her break character was when we started talking about books. She was also a big music lover, I remember staying up many late nights listening to music with her. I still have the IGM she sent me with a picture of her when she confided in me that she was a lady. Durc that message will be marked unread and remain marked so. You will be missed Durc orc. You will always be a classy lady. ropa

It's very sad for her family to have lost her so near the holidays as well. I liked durc -- I got a kick out of the her persistence in role-playing the character, what with the broken English and "dim orc" routine. I sometimes wish there was more role-playing like that, and durc was committed to it. I don't how she died -- if she was sick -- but after losing Amroth not too long ago, one cannot notice that a fair number of active players in this game are sick. Some terminally. It's a good game for the infirm, since it is engaging, immersive, and lets bed-ridden folks make connections with other people in a fun atmosphere. It certainly beats watching bad television all day. I was shocked to hear about the passing of such a wonderful player and friend. It has taken me a bit to get my head around her loss. I always loved how courteous and accepting she was. Those qualities are amazing in people. She showed them everyday with kind words and encouragement to new players. She touched many lives even though for most of us it was through a computer screen. That doesn't make it less of a connection or the loss felt any less. To her very close family and friends, I am deeply sorry for your loss. To the players of Illy that knew her and cared about her, keep her memory alive by treating others as she would have treated them. I only knew the woman who played Durc as Durc Orc, in Illyriad. Yet I feel the loss of Durc so very deeply, far more than I have any right to feel. I do not know what to say. I mostly knew and appreciated Durc in GC, where Durc Orc was so patient and kind and such a stabilizing force to this community. She had mentioned via the single IGM exchange we had that she had lost her Moravian Stars, a Christmas decoration common to my religious heritage and her locale. I had been working on a picture decorating her smexy orc for Christmas. Now I offer it to all of us who are mourning. |

No wordd can express my sorrow. Durc was fun and lovable and that (and she) this dwarf will miss. May the caverns you walk be filled with the light from above refracting through crystals far below, illuminating your journey with beauty only known to those who must walk the long road that is now before you. Yet never fear, for friends will speed you on your way, and others who have gone before await you on at the caverns bend, to journey further and deeper still, where only friends may tread the passes known to gods and mortal men no more. | I'm greatly saddened to hear about the loss of Durc,,a truly great player,and champion of orcs. I generally tend to "lurk" in GC,,but i have had so many LOL moments with some of the chats i've seen with Durc involved. 3 weeks ago I created a orc alt because i wanted to have a character like her,,I almost abandoned it after hearing the news of what happened,,,but after hearing several players that i greatly respect,,i have decided to continue with him,,(you know who you are,,lol). My condolances go out to family, friends, and to members of the Cave,,i cant even fathom what you must be going through!! I will miss the fun and enjoyment she gave us all. Durc was my buddy Orc. I wish the family well and share in their sorrow. Goodbye to a great and fun friend.

i first met Durc/Puginator when i joined KV ... as Puginator and loved her Pug Tank ... later on she introduced me to her alt Durc who was a riot and stayed in character in chat and touched everyone ... You will be missed ... RIP Durc. We were alliance mates and then quickly became friends. It is clear from everyone's words that you touched many lives with your kindness and lighthearted spirit. You'll be missed. |

I only got to talk to Durc for a little bit at a time, but I could tell that she was a very enthusiastic player. That only wants me to try to get out of my shell more to get to know other players in the game. I will take what I remember of her love of this game, and try to emulate that more. RIP, Durc Orc. You will truly be missed, even by this newer (and still green) player.

I just registered so I could add my thoughts to this thread. Durc was very special, to my mind the best role play of an orc I have seen so far, I miss throwing a wet haddock as a snack and saying "Throm-Ka Durc orc" in GC. I was so sad and upset when I found out she was gone for ever. My thoughts go out to her loved ones. I will never forget you and our chats Durc Orc, and I hope you are now in a fabulous place, because you are a shining

Dear my good friend Durc, you were always kind towards me and when I was new you sent me resources and helped me out more than I can repay you friend, I wish you were still with us for you were a great person. But unfortunately Valar Morghulis... Rest in Peace, Rest in Peace... I posted that on my profile and I will never remove it... I wish I could do something better to give her a memorial than just post some message maybe something the Devs and all of us can go maybe make some monument in the game for she loved it dearly I believe or maybe we could all donate a dollar and send a "care-a-van" to her family... ------------- Winter is Coming |

Tomorrow, I go and visit the town where Durc lived. We were supposed to meet. In her memory, I dedicate this song: I picked this one, partially also for me. Because there is a natural tendency to ask oneself "Did I do enough to show my affection while she was alive." I am sure I did... but even so, this song seemed the most fitting.

Early this morning, Durc's last city was gathered up by an Eagles player. She often reminisced fondly about her time in Eagle's First Flight (FF), so it was nice to have the city rescued by her friends. As Durc's account was at 95 days of inactivity, it was automatically removed from the system. It's strange to realize that she's been gone for over three months. It seems like just last week we were joking around in AC. But the familiar name is no longer at the top of my Friends list, and her name has vanished from the rolls of [CAVE], the alliance she founded. Goodbye, Durc.
