as I watched

From livid red, to mottled purple

Through grey plastic gloves

the chill passed from his hand to mine

growing colder every second

The red line, barely undulated

monitoring electric currents

which no longer stimulated

I closed his eyes,

I washed my hands,

and continued my day

Meanwhile here in Illy, My cities had fallen

becoming burning chunks of rubble

But I didn't care

Thanks for such a warm perspective into what is truly significant.

And it is my privilege to have a small glimpse into the true life experience which inspired this poem and honored to virtually know the compassionate and passionate person who shares her life with us.

Thanks for sharing this.  Good perspective for all of us, and I am glad to see you around even during dark times irl.
