So, you've been playing Illyriad for a while, maybe a couple of weeks, months, or years.
Compare how you feel about Illyriad now, with how you felt about Illyriad when you first started playing, after learning a tiny bit about it.
Does it give you what you expected, or more, or less?
p.s. - I know that poll choices are skewed because any disappointed players are likely not to have seen this post.
- No, I don't work for the marketing department; I'm just curious.

I've been playing just over a month now. I like the trade and crafting aspects of the game. However, I find the quests and magic to be disappointing. The quests are repetitive and feeble, while the magic seems to offer very little reward for the effort it requires.

More or less my thoughts, this game has too many connected people, too many friends amongst friends. Therefor Friend A will not attack friend b even in a situation where A should attack B to protect friends C and D, because A and B are friends.
Illyville! Instead of growing crops, i can makez spears

It's better than I expected, and I can engage with it;
Because:
- Permanent map means city placement, geography, diplomatic standings with neighbors, and now trading is better and more engaging than I expected. - Troop Build times are lengthy, making battles much more important. - However, I can imagine an improved game with path finding, faction quests, sov land structures (walls, roads, gates, bridges), robust magic system, and ships.

It would be great for there to be more territorial conflict. Hopefully AI factions will add more to that and give people a little more reason to fight one another. It's probably to o much to ask that player influenced conflicts have an actual impact on where the lines are drawn on the map.

Same vote, essentially same thoughts as well.

I doubt there will be a significant improvement in territorial conflict when the AI factions go live, I foresee people allying w/ one major faction much like people going to Centurum. Those who go to the outer factions will risk execution, which of course is a reason for the conflict but w/ that in mind I very much doubt they will go to out factions and instead try to befriend major factions.
Since people are more commonly using the 0/0 hub for trade v2 instead of outer factions, that is what I'm basing my thoughts on.

if you ally with a faction that isnt liked by the faction close to you now thats a bad idea.. if the information we have gotten is correct still.
i really doubt what you said anyhow

We will see won't we? I'm personally going to befriend the Blood Reavers or if for some reason its impossible for me to do so, engage in a war with them.

You both make valid points. For example after looking through the faction page if you get super friendly with the Centrum faction the Barbarians of Kal Turikan will dislike you and might start attacking your armies.
Or to follow your proposition EF, if you align yourself with the Blood Reavers and develop strong ties with them the Tewhirrus might end up disliking you enough to start sieging your cities. o.O Conversely if you wage war on the Blood Reavers that would earn you reputation with other factions that also dislike them. That's what I think could help spice things up as players get involved with Wars between factions hopefully it will lead to some confrontations between players.
To me this is preferable to the current mode of conflict where both sides take to the forum to vilify the opposition and sway others to their cause.

There are many territorial conflicts. Usually resulting in a few small battles and that's the end of it.
I have been a part of several small territorial battles. I did not call for aid in them, and instead fought battles and resolved the issues without posting my business on the forums. That means less drama, more fun, and no one else knows about it.

Far exceeded expectations. The game is complex in the right way, the way that makes you think about your decisions, and the metagame is a remarkable and unexpected aspect I am really enjoying.
The only negative is how much of the game isn't finished. Not that I can blame the devs, as there is only so much they can do, but all of the incomplete content sitting in the game makes me more anxious and impatient than if it wasn't there.

Not at all! I'm just unaccustomed to developers including content that serves no present in-game purpose, like the final two magic schools and some of the harvest-able resources.

Far exceeded my expectations.
WoW held me for about 6 months. I've been in Illy just over a year. Reason: metagame. I do so enjoy the way Illy is so flexible and open to interpretation. If it were just a war game, or just a trade game, or just a build game, forget it.
I always liked playing Civilization and Age of Empires so Illy seemed like a good try, being free and all. After about a month, I was hooked. No end game, the possibilty of user content, alliances and their operation, the permanent map. All these things and more made my head spin, but in a good way.
Recently my activity decreased due to RL stuff and for any ordinary game that would have been the end. Illy is far from ordinary, so here I remain.
