I have a question about how equipment and commander bonuses are computed.

Say I have a Mangonel with a move speed of 3.  I then use a draught horse which is a 25% bonus to bring it up to 3.75

So then I use a commander with a 10/10 forced march for an additional 50% movement speed.  So is this 50% applied to the 3.75 move speed OR are you simply adding the 25% to the forced march bonus for a simple 75%.  It may not seem like much, but in the first scenario you would have 5.625 movement speed compared to the second scenario or 5.25.

No one said there would be math!

The 50% is applied to the 3.75 giving a net movement of 5.625.

As we discussed in GC, in case anybody else has the same question, the equipment effects are applied multiplicatively.

Base move speed of 3, with FM 10 is 4.5, times 1.25 draught horse bonus is 5.625 squares/hour.

Good to know, so the same could be said of attack bonuses as well I assume.  Say I have a marshal with 59 attack equipped with plains spear/armor/heavy warhorse which gives a 29% bonus to plains attack.  They charge bonus from my commander would be 15% of the already boosted attack (76.11) and not simply additive.  Makes my marshal attack 87.53 vs 84.96.

You can check the effect by equipping your troops, note shown speed, equip again with nothing, compare new with old speed, and ignore the math behind it.  That should also work for other values shown on the military overview page.Smile

I think it is a bug. Should be addictive not multiplicative...

Pretty sure the devs mentioned during one of the preview videos that they would be multiplicative.

The bonuses can be both multiplicative and addictive. I don't see the problem...

Speed bonuses are partly addictive and partly multiplicative, it should be:

effective speed = speed * (1 + (armour + weapon + mount) * elite) * (1 + (forced march))

as written in announcement post:

I'm pretty sure the formula for attack is:

(unit attack) * (1 + (weapon bonus + armor bonus + mount bonus) * elite multiplier [1 or 2]) * (1 + commander unit attack level [Close Quarter Penetration, Concentrated Fire, Bloodlust or Charge] / 100 + terrain bonus + applicable biome building level / 100)

Similar for defense.

Like someone else said, the equipment bonuses are summed and multiplied by the "old" bonuses which were also added together.  Sort of a paradigm shift.
