How many of you have composed a carefully-worded email, only to accidentally press backspace, or click on an icon to look something up. All your text is gone!

Several other websites have implemented an "Are you sure you want to leave this page?" feature, which stops this from happening.

In the meantime, it's possible to defend against the possibility, by either:
  1. write their text in a separate editor, then paste it into the Compose page for formatting and -sending, or
  2. frequently copy their message to the clipboard, so that the text is somewhere.

*Raises hand

Oh my!
The pain, the rage,  the frustration at my own stupid carelessness, but in truth it is only too easy to loose a carefully written, well edited message... Cry

Yes, please, add such a feature! Please!

An alternative solution (for devs) would be to use 'HTML5' local storage for encrypted auto-save, which is checked when the Compose Mail panel is loaded.
