It would be helpful if they were labeled "All Alliance Message" so you know if it's something everyone in your alliance is reading or just you.

I also agree.  Even just adding the prefix MM: to the beginning would help.  I do this manually now and try to encourage others to do so, but sometimes I forget.

I tend just to type (All-Alliance) in the subject or the message body (not that I've had to do that often).

But yes, having it show automatically from the email meta-data (authentically; without possibility of deception!) would be good.

It would be nice, yes, but doesn't the content and greetings make it obvious most of the time?

When personal you adress the title-name, when general it's usually "greetings one and all", "greetings Ladies and Lords of the Realm" and such;
and the content is... well, general:
send armies here, renforce reinforce there, prepare this and that...

I have yet to receive a message that makes me wonder whether is general or personal.
