The description of the Trends researches seems inconsistent with what you probably mean. The text says

"for every region you have a town in or any region in which you have a Trader in a Faction Hub"

whereas I believe you mean

"for every region in which you have a town that has completed this research, or any region in which you have a Trader from a town that has completed this research in a Faction Hub"

Or did you really mean that the Trends researches apply across towns?

Given how traders work, I suppose it could be
"every region you have a town in that has completed this research or any region in which you have a Trader in a Faction Hub"?
