Absaroke is recruiting active, fun players to our alliance. Founded in August in 2010, we are one of the first and most experienced alliances in Illyriad. We are seeking fun, easygoing, active members willing to specialize their cities for Trade, Military, Diplomacy, or Crafting. There is no pressure to do these things, but it would be nice!! We enjoy an easy going, nomadic life here, come look!
Here is a great article about the Native American tribe that we are based on:

Take a look at our alliance page and our diplomacy, I think you will enjoy being with us! http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/Alliance/Alliance/189" rel="nofollow - http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/Alliance/Alliance/189
You may contact myself or any other member of Absaroke in the top fifteen listed on our page.

We also need Crazy Dogs, those among you with at least two settlements ready to exodus wherever Absa choose at time.
-newer
players can be efficiant gatheres or miners, skinners and herbalists. Chief's counsil would supply them with resources, gold and information about
best sites for picking rare herbs etc. They would also be supported and guarded with military at all times.
-same goes for senior Dogs, those who lost old cities in war or those with proper research levels and/or experianced commanders Chief's counsil will equip Senior Dogs with apropriate gear for the task, and gold for troop upkeep.

After a small pause due to a war, Absa is recruiting again.
We are looking for traders, warriors and craftsmen in Keppen, Middle Kingdom, Turalia, Zanpur and Northern Wolgast. We value fair play and courage, and for those who enjoy fighting, this is also a good time to earn your feathers (medals for war deeds).
To join the tribe, contact any of the chiefs or your Absaroka neighbour.

What is the harm in recruiting players into an alliance at war? He didn't say recruitment was open to only new players.

well yes, if properly instructed you can get a player helping in wars in about two weeks, this way they not just doing building and learning a balance game. War and trade are the major parts of this game. players may want to join these alliances right away....why is everyone negative against war?

I know, right? People come here to...umm, build cities and, ummm...chat. That war stuff should go right out the window. We should have nothing more exciting to do than gather grapes and trade clay. If you want war, play a game with weapons and horses and stuff...

Any players may join, and yes, some people are not content with gathering clay all day.

A few reasons. 1. Spies. 2. Wars are for players with over 5000 pop, minimum. It's just wrong to bring new players into that, as they are not going to be able to fight in a war without severe handicaps. Plus, most players above that are either well established in an alliance or not interested in having one.

Players of any size and any interests are welcome.
There is no compulsion to be a military player. I'd like to see more traders and craftsmen. And if not for the lovely people who spend their time to chat with us daily, I suspect many of us would have left the game out of boredom long time ago.
@Noki, We do not measure people based on their size. It is up to each player to decide what is right and what is wrong for him.

While respecting your opinion I do think it is wrong to shield oneself behind new players. You cant ask new players to make an informed decision on entering an alliance at war as they don't comprehend what exactly they are getting into, so you are really just evading the responsability. I do not dispute your right to recruit, but I agree with Noki that the timing is wrong.

How exactly is stating that they are currently at war not informing them what is going on? This isn't a job interview or a surgery consultation, it's a game. And how exactly is that shielding oneself behind new players? Are their enemies going to automatically target the new player's towns instead of the ones attacking back? Honestly it is too costly to run a siege, you at least want to hit someone of value. Or are you really going to risk 80+ catapults trying to take a 5k pop town? I don't honestly believe that Absa's enemies are that stupid.

There will be no hiding behind new players. All players will know the score, up front. Further, if anyone decides joining Absa is wrong for them, they will always be free to leave without any consequences whatsoever. It is a policy that we have always held.
Finally, quite a few alliances at war have their recruiting status set to "yes", including at this moment both the largest alliance in soup and the largest alliance in coal. It seems to be a rather standard practice.

I see little value in a new player being targeted in war.

a small player can do major damage to a large player. no matter what the size, territory is very important and a live active player adds great value to any alliance. all newbies should realize their value and all players in this game are important no matter what their size is or how new they are....beware of the small account, they can bring a larger player to their knees very quickly....remember smaller accounts are easier to replace than large ones.....wink wink...join the alliance that best fits your needs newbies the game needs to get rid of the mind set that anyone out of rainbow needs special protection, its a falsehood that somehow was incorporated into this game....this is a true game of thrones and the devs have given the smaller players the capability to do damage that can turn any war.

The only damage a small player can do to a larger player is through espionage actions, new players are valuable in the sense that they are more or less a commodity of "land", come to think of it, all players are valuable in this sense.
