Are animals supposed to kill cotters, miners, herbalists and skinners?  I think they might be doing so but I'm not positive and really don't want to test it with my guys.

My cotters enjoyed the firm protection of a legion of Poisenous Crawlers recently. So maybe they will one day, but they don't do so yet.

My cotters happily coexist with wild dogs, wolves and giant rats.  They may even be sneaking some of the puppies home to their kids.

I've noticed that NPCs will enter a square I'm harvesting with no skirmish; what happens if you send your gatherers to a square with NPCs already on it?

They are still fine.

I sent a cotter to a patch with wolves on it, and got this message in my notification box.

Cotters from Omashu arrived at [-468|-49] in Keppen but have disappeared without a trace, and are lost to the world.

Yep, there's a ton of messages in my notifications stating what happened to all my cotters/herbalists/miners.  Lots of them disappearing without a trace.  The most recent ones disappear on squares with animals.

7 separate events with the total losses:

7 cotters
2 miners
1 herbalist

I know the miners were lost to an army.  When I check the squares the most recent ones are lost on I see animals.  Obviously animals have moved on from older losses if that was the cause.

I'd like to hear from the devs as to what the deal is.

Cotter on the way to a square with a host of Poisonous Crawlers.  I just lost 2 cotters there so I'll try again to see...

Cotters from 1. Seclusion arrived at [577|-657] in Zanpur but have disappeared without a trace, and are lost to the world. 1 hour ago02 Aug 2012 13:15:53

"Disappear" means they were killed.

Ah, so it's supposed to work like that! :)

Here's the problem, they were killed but there are only animals around...

Should we reach the obvious conclusion that you (not personally :) ) changed something and didn't tell us or told us somewhere in the vast quantities of "things coming up" and we missed it?

When your gatherers arrive on a square; if there is an unfriendly army or animals there they will be killed. You will now be told what killed them.

Incoming animals will now bound if your gatherers are already on the square (and not kill them)

Smile

Can I get the cotters back (in Archer's End) that I just sent to a square with animals to prove this? Wink

Nice, I like the new message.  Quick turnaround too!

Cotters from 3. Archer's End arrived at [577|-657] in Zanpur but were mortally savaged by  and have not returned. 10 seconds ago
