OK, I must have missed something - I just signed up for the game, and I was apparently automatically made a "Human Male". I'm not a male, and I would have chosen elf, if given a choice ... so, where do I change my character? Thanks.

You cannot change your character. If you just started, it would be advisable to abandon your account and start another with your preferred race and gender. Unfortunately you will not be able to re-use the name, although you can use a very similar one.
