Subject: Your avg. daily bonus collection per week?

Before UI3 went active I was collecting an average of 6 daily bonus per week.

Now I am nabbing about 3.

I think it mostly has to do with my adv. res bar covering the bonus collection button on the herald screen. An ally of mine stated that this was likely intentional on the part of the devs.

If it isn't intentional any way we could have the adv res bar closed by default on login?

No change has been made to intentionally make anyone forget their daily bonus.

The adv resource bar state is remembered from your last browser session. So if you left it open, it will be open. If you closed it, it will be closed.

Or if the Advanced Resource bar is open can it shift everything else down, because it also covers up the search bar. It could be similar to how chat shifts to the penultimate entry from the last entry by default and everything resizes if the download bar along the bottom is active in Chrome.

Luna,
It may not have been an intentional change, but many in my alliance are missing theirs as well.  Could something be added to the UI to make it more apparent?  Perhaps have the state of the banner ignore the last opened tab, and move it to a more visible location?

I also like Rohk's idea about the adv res bar- force the other frames down by X pixels (I haven't measured it yet).  It covers the handy search box- due to it being covered I've only used it a few times ...  wouldn't y'all want people like me to use the new feature, instead of ignoring it?  :)

A thought or two.

I agree with that, it's less visible and i also forget to get the daily prestige bonus a lot now... guess im lazy and stunned :)

I also agree it's a bit annoying to have the search bar hiden, when you have your adv.ressources bar down.

evil hides in the details.

I don't understand why this seems to be an issue. Good housekeeping habits suggest that if the adv res bar is closed when you have finished using it, then it will be closed when you next come on line. I never leave it open, and only open it to check on adv res builds and quantities.

I developed a compulsive habit where I will lose sleep if I have an empty queue, so I keep the bar open all the time and switch through cities every hour or so and set alarms throughout my sleep period to fill a queue if needed.

I usually click my profile and scroll down to access the search box as opposed to closing the adv res bar.

I wouldn't say its a high priority fix by any means, but my limited programming experience (QBasic :p) makes me think it might be an easy fix.

I will admit the same thing although I don't loose sleep over it. I never worried if it was open or closed before. It just was what it was. Now it's extra effort, however miniscule.

I was doing well until that day the timer froze, I've never gotten back on track. I'm hoping the fact I overslept today will get me back on track for tomorrow after work.

Knock on wood.

Another option is to have it remind you when you change screens that you haven't collected. But that would mean giving a lot more prestige away.

Same here.  I don't like to keep it open if I am not using it.

I never leave it closed, only for the prestige collection or to get at the search form I close it.

I will admit, the search bar could be in a better spot.

I think these two posts help prove the point that the current setup for showing advanced resources could be better.  Advanced resources, and keeping your queues full are a huge part of efficient Empire management.

If you had an "arrow" to hide basic resources, would it still be good housekeeping to hide that information?

My point (the same one I made with the compulsory friends list) is that having options to obtain more information in less clicks should be a goal of the interface, not finding interesting ways to hide that information.

I'm not suggesting that they force people to view the information, just adjust the popup so that it doesn't cover the search window or the daily prestige.  In other words, I'm adding my voice in agreement with the OP.

If we had the option for an adjustable pop out window for announcements it would solve half of this problem and four or five other ones I have (key word "I", I know most don't).  It would make life much easier if we could choose which announcements we wanted to be displayed and add a dismiss option to each announcement.  For instance you could turn on announcements for when adv resource queues finish, or building or tech queues are empty.  Then dismiss each announcement as you take care of the problem.  Basically a "Hey Stupid Window" to remind us of things we missed.

I've mentioned similar ideas in other threads and very few others seem to have a problem with this, but I'm still screaming into the wind hoping to make enough noise that it may get future consideration.

I'm off topic, but I'm curious what the average "fill rate" of queues are for the average player?  Is it unusual for a player to try and stay well above 95% for adv resources and near 100% for Research and Construction?  It's difficult to have the basics in stock to set 10k queues all the time for non active prestige accounts.

With that being said, I would agree with the "less information crowd" that it would probably be healthier to just let stuff sit idle and not worry about it, but that is easier said then done.

On regards to the feeling to make the daily bonus more obvious,

While I do not doubt that with UI changes various aspects in Illyriad have become slightly less noticeable and therefor easier to overlook, the daily bonus is a freebie and perhaps should be more appreciated? The developers did not have to place in a daily bonus ability in illyriad, with the option including one free prestige, perhaps we should be content to remember to minimize the adv resource bar and be happy overall with the ability to get a prestige per day, with no cost to you other then remembering day to day?

how about you stop complaining about having to click a button and remember to take free stuff and pay for it like alot of others..

i mean thats what you are doing, complaining about having ro remember to take freebies, something they REALLY dont have to even give out..

Would be nice to just recieve the reward once every 24 hrs. upon login. (sitters excluded ofc.)

The prestige bonus is basically a reward for being active on a regular basis, there is no real reason why it should require so much clicking every time.

I prefer things smooth and practical is all.

There have already been several threads suggesting that the daily bonus be somehow made "easier" to get or more automated. It is not something the dev team is considering.

Automating prestige claiming isn't something 3rd parties are allowed to do, but I will be (when I have some free time again) updating Butler to include a permanently visible sidebar notification (like the chat alert icon) that only goes away when prestige cannot currently be claimed.  The layout changes have made free prestige visibility considerably worse and that does need fixing.

I think the advanced resource bar covering the search box is a valid issue; the daily bonus thing is an unfortunate distraction from an actual problem.

Activity in Illy is its own reward.

Ok. Concerns duly noted. But we will not be entertaining any more discussion about the daily bonus at this time. Closing the thread.
