This may have been suggested in the past but I think it would be an ideal scenario.

It has come to my attention that the only way to get rid of a city, is to have someone else knock it down. I believe there should be an abandon city option. That enables the player to simply walk away and lose entire claim to a city.

I envision that it should come with a large penalty, such as losing the entire cities population immediately (as the city inhabitants look for a new home) and the city begins to deteriorate as soon as the action is complete, with no chance of reversing it.

I think this would come in handy, especially to eliminate newbie blunders.
