Video from today's walkthrough and dev chat is now available on youtube. GM Cerberus and I discuss the new UI, show how to use the medal designer and take questions from players. Enjoy!

Questions raised from this video:
Can we please get more frequent Herald updates?  (Bi-weekly would be amazing--rather than bi-monthly)
Why is the Heart beating on your UI preview?  (I just looked and it isn't in our UI)

Other Comments:
Times 14:44 = "and a skull for pirate alliances--which is awesome!"   37:20 = "piratey things"

Hopefully someone else out there starts up a good pirate alliance.

More frequent herald updates would be ideal. We hope to be able to provide them more often, yes.

The heart is always beating on the test server. Sorry for the confusion. ;)

Wish I could expand the picture or link to the Youtube page and allow me to do it there.

Thanks for the post, the video was very helpful.

The cost of prestige for these medals is a bit bothersome for me, but I can understand how you want them to be special.

I love in the first 10 seconds, "... welcome to illyriad dev chat?"
reminds me of...
"... I'm Ron Burgundy?"

lol

EDIT:  Great chat I would have loved to ask GM Cerb some questions.  Perhaps let us know more than a single day in advance when something as momentous as this will be happening?

I would love to have asked him if he had any considerations of creating multiple possibilities for avatars.  Such an elf female clothing option for the more demure player that could be clothed in a fully covering dress (dont forget the ankles.)  Or an elf female that had red hair or different cheek bone heights.  I think the 8 current avatars are 8 masterpieces, but customization like this, I believe can help immerse players into their role as a unique character in the game.

@Invictusa - Stay classy San Diego!

I love the new interface. Hopefully people enjoy the change more than from the first version too the second :)

So the nickel and diming for items begins with the medals. The nicest things about this game was that nothing had a cost sure looks like this has or is changing fast.
While these chats are nice they do not replace the chats we used to have with the devs Thunder Cat and Storm Crow.
The uniqueness of Illy is disappearing

I don't see how your coming to that conclusion. Prestige has been around for years, all they've added is just another option to spend it on, and medals don't give any more advantages over a f2p account. It is another way for the devs to make money but I'm sure the servers arnt free and they're not forcing you to pay.

As usual I'm glad to see the devs are still actively working on illy and can't wait to see what coming in the future.

Well, if I'd ever catch a bonus prestige sell again, it might tempt me to invest a major part of the bonus into medals for players in other alliances.  Otherwise I better stick to the strategy to use prestige only for buildings.Tongue

Weird idea, the new Herald could sell recruitment ads, one day on page one for 100P, or similar...

How did I come  to that conclusion? there is now an item that can only be bought with prestige. You name any other item that is in game that can be obtained like this pls

No other item but Luna did say there will be ways to get medals for free. Medals that cannot be made on the game. Well they are thinking of it but still that to me is a plus side. Also think of it this way; all it takes is 50 people giving up 2 days worth of free prestige and your alliance can have a medal. If you play smart and have loyal members, you can be swimming in prestige.

Have an alliance run tournament where everyone donates 5 prestige (weeks worth for most people) and the winner gets 10% of the prestige and the rest goes to a medal. So many different creative ways to get the prestige you need for your alliance to create medals.

Please stop looking at this as one person spending £4.99 and look at the alliance working together to gain your objective.

Agreed Quackers.  And keep in mind that players can receive up to 365 FREE prestige per year (that is if they are crazy enough to be on every day and click immediately after the 24hour delay expires.  more realistically, 300 Free a year).  But if one medal costs 300 and they are spending their prestige on in game advancements, most likely players would donate about 30 prestige a year.

Yes your post made me fully understand how ridiculously priced these are. I understand about the hard work, the time, the little server space, and money wanted to do other things.. but this just seems out there. Either looks like they are being greedy, needing money to feed their business/goals, or just don't fully understand economics. (The people that spend real money on a a fake virtual medal really does not understand economics.)

After watching the video a second time I am even more sure that GM Luna said medals will be purchased using "Alliance Prestige."  As if this wil be a new function for prestige (donating to the alliance pool of prestige.)

Something I still didn't catch though: When you purchase the design of a medal, is it available to give to everyone and anyone in your alliance, or do you purchase a single medal to give to a single player?

Once the medal is designed and purchased it can be given to anyone/everyone in your alliance. So you could design something for one person or something that could be given to everyone.

What I got was you made a medal, purchased it, then it cost 50 prestige to give it out to a player (or yourself). You can then give out that medal as many times as you want for an additional 50 prestige for each player.

In the video @ 21:10 it very clearly states that each time the medal is awarded to a player it costs 50 prestige, the design cost is a one time fee , but the award is not. This was said by GM Luna and needs to be explained as it is opposite of what was posted above.

Not related to medals, but I notice the time for me to get my daily gift has shifted by about 4 hours. I know I wasn't doing it that late last night, I was sawing logs.

To the DEVS: I would like to thank you for the new interface. For those of us who have some sort of ocular impairment or issue, the new interface is great!
For Instance, I am shade blind. Yes I can see color but if the shades are really close to one another i cannot see a difference. The new interface has enough color variation and definition to make my game play much more enjoyable. Plus the red action buttons really help. All in all, so far a really nice update to Illy! Thanks to the Devs and all their hard work.
