I'm starting a thread for reports of possible bugs or kinks in the latest release. Some of these may be "features."
So far I have observed or heard of:
--When you forward or reply to a mail, the window "hangs" although the mail has been sent. You can click on any other button and then return to the mail page to write more mail. When I hit return to make a new paragraph, it bounces down to the preview at the bottom of the screen. I'm using Google Chrome. The mail problems are reported in petition 6005.
--Scout reports on NPCs come back empty. Petition 6001.
--NAP'd player cities are a lighter yellow than neutral cities, which are a darker yellow. However the "NAP" indication no longer shows up in the city information.
--There are reports of armies failing to return from missions.

To further clarify on "There are reports of armies failing to return from missions."
My troops are not showing on the movements page or on the map. But the army is listed as being "On Manoeuvres"

my army should be back, was one square away. its shown as being out on manoeuvres but its not showing on the military movements page. looking at global chat, it appears it's not just me.

My own diplo unit and army now appear green to me rather than blue.
I can see other players' caravans on my screen but I cannot see my own.
Again, not sure if these are bugs or features.

Can't see my own vans after having just sent them out, but they show harvesting.
Chat windows are now floating and moving with the scrolling of the pages. Not good esp when in the research pages.
Also - Confed Alliance members aren't showing as such when I mouse over the cities.

Sovving seems to be disabled on regular (non-coastline) squares. Atmy occupies, then no option for Claim Sov.
|

We cannot claim sovereignty anymore even if it is not coastline. The option has disappeared from the occupying army pop-up box. I don't know if this is related to keeping the coastline squares off limits for now. Petition 5993
I have a screenshot but I can't figure out how to post it.

Someone mentioned on GC that they had sent an army to Occupy a coastline square, but (1) couldn't claim sov and (2) the army is now stuck Occupying that square--it didn't return when it should have.

All graphs are displaying weird color schemes and textures. It's like I'm seeing the bare bones of what where once interactive charts. For example in the Player Summary "Rankings" section. Also the market chart, the charts for attack on The Herald page, diplomatic overview, resource Inventory, pretty much anything with a chart.
On this bottom picture, the chart on the left (it was never interactive to my memory) looks like it used to, the one on the right is clearly not as intended.
Edit: I am using the Chrome browser. I have tried Firefox and even another computer. I have cleared my cache and temp. internet files. Still broken. My working theory is that this change: "We have removed most of the Emoticons from chat and have de-animated them all" might be behind making all the interactive chart code inactive.

The developers are hard at work on our problems:
[06:07]<GM Tiberius> situation update : #1, a small number of players is experiencing "temporarily out of the space-time continuum" armies after a military operation; #2 the option to claim soveraignty is playing hide and seek, and it's rather good at it (try a browser refresh and let us know if it was fixed) ; #3 all scout units seem to have forgotten how to count animals in the wilds, but we're re-educating them fast ; all of these strange happenings are being thoroughly investigated and scolded back into normalcy to the best of our abilities
Players report in gc that the issue with claiming sovereignty has been fixed. Refresh your browsers!

Yes bows appear to be unstoppable. . . . although this was already true of trueshots.
My army still appears to be in the outer limits after refreshing.

The graph for defense cuts off the "0" so the unit against which you have the lowest defense will APPEAR to have 0 defense. You will notice that the lines on the graph start at 50k or 100k or whatever your lowest defense is.
The graph is technically correct, but it does not do a very good job of communicating defense information at a glance. It's not a bug, but maybe should be put on a list of things to consider changing.
Edited: There IS a glitch in the defense against cav bar. It reflects the defense against swords value. Petition 6026, also noted in a later post.

Our faithful devs continue to work through the night to resolve issues. The following was posted by GM Tiberius in global chat:
Supplemental situation update : #1 a small number of players is experiencing "temporarily out of the space-time continuum" armies after a military operation - the armies aren't lost, they're just "hibernating" and will be repatriated as fast as we can get them home (we're trying to identify and fix the underlying issue first, repatriation will come later) ;
#2 the ability to send armies to coastal areas was accidentally enabled early and has now been disabled - this has the unfortunate side-effect of being unable to recall them early via messengers (they should still return when you have set them to return on their own) ;
#3 some scouts seem to have forgotten how to count animals, re-education is underway (scout reports from before the upcoming fix will remain blank however);
#4 a number of OTHER issues (inability to claim sov, hanging mail page after send, editing of profile and alliance profile) HAVE BEEN FIXED, and if you still experience any of those, try refreshing the browser first.

This seems to have not worked, at least for me. I still have an army hanging out on the beach at 262|394, who have overstayed their original deployment and are giving no indication when they might return. While it's possible that this is not a bug at all, and simply my treasonous soldiers deserting en mass to work on their tans (It's happened before), I would like to give then the benefit of the doubt and raise the issue here.

Not sure if this is a bug, but NPCs seem to be moving even when a player army is moving towards the square they are occupying. This makes it very hard to attack them. If this is as intended it is a very bad change.
Sure, moving animals is realistic, but then armies should have a way of continuing the move and track them and not return home just because the square is empty when they arrive.
Should I be sending 9 armies now ? 1 to the square the NPC is on and 8 to the squares around it? I am very surprised if that is what the devs intended.

There have been some changes to battle reports. I don't know if these changes are intentional.
The first change is that it no longer specifies the type of creature in the mail title. It just says NPCs.
The second change is that the order of the units killed is changed. It used to be listed based on the least experience first. I'm not sure what the order is based on now.
The third changes is that no gold is given for the fight. It is possible that this is related to the fact that the armies are not returning. Or it might be that we no longer get gold when we fight NPCs.

On the military summary for each city, the bar graph is glitched in two ways: 1) The bottom level on the defense graph is the lowest defense number, not 0. This makes it appear as though defense against bows is 0 in every case. 2) The defense against cavalry bar reflects the value for defense against swords. Defense against swords correctly reflects the defense against swords value -- the graphs are always equal. This is consistent across all my cities and has been reported by numerous players.

Cannot recall armies on ocean squares. I sent two armies to two different squares to occupy them, decided later to recall the armies, sent messengers who successfully delivered messages to armies but the armies are still occupying the ocean squares.
Please fix this, petition #5999 (Aradil account)

Are the armies that are camping suppose to still show like they are marching or are they suppose to look like camps like they used to? Mine look like they are ready to leave the spot they are on, but are camped for another 2 days.
Oh and I put a petition in that the is an issue with the new mail ticker not disappearing when you have checked your mail until you refresh your screen. It is Petition 6032.
I also have someone sending caravans to a city and I don't have a blue ticker mark above trade icon in that city. I have notifications of the caravans en-route in the Notification section. They do show up in trade movements. Did you get rid of the blue ticker for this?
I also dont have a Building or Research Cue Ticker above the city map icon and it does not show anything in the Next Events for building or Research.
The arrows next to the City drop down box don't work either.
I am using FireFox version 11.

- my own armies are now green. i would prefer a different colour like before (not sure if a bug or a feature)
- my vans are invisible while travelling (but they are blue once in place and harvesting)
- the occupy army icon is the same than the travelling one. I prefer a lot the previous icons where you were able to immediately know the status of the army (not sure if this is a bug or a feature) Overall all the new icons are way less visible and understandable... sorry, I know you made an effort, but the result may be nice, but is less informative...
- it looks like we can siege from coast. I have the option to do it, but not sent, so unsure if the army once arrived in place would really start the siege. I would love this, but from what you stated on the release note it should be not possible. Having unsiegeable cities is bad, having now those cities even powerful via the food tiles around them is .... well I cannot use the right word ;-)
- Please restore standard smile, the new one are uninformative, I cannot understand if the weird elf smile or cry :-(

No they haven't, the two armies on Aradil that I tried to recall yesterday are returned, however, the rest of the armies on both Starry and Aradil that are on water squares are stuck, the option to send diplos has been removed. :( Sorry but I'm unclear why the option to occupy was permitted if we were not supposed to send out armies. I'm switching to HM's Butler since the ingame chat is driving me nuts, a good alternative and I recommend it if you are having issues.

Ok my level of frustration is soaring. I've submitted petitions only to have replies that the troops are on the way (no one bothered to check the maps or they would have seen they haven't moved). The petitions have been "politely" closed without checking resolution and I've reopened them.
Now in GC:
[13:52] GM Stormcrow [DEVS]: Armies currently on beaches will return when their occupation timers complete. While that may resolve the occupation of some of my armies, I have a few armies that no longer show occupation time. What happens with those armies? Again, the ability to send armies to a water square was not tested for the ability to recall troops. Devs, if you don't want us to use a feature, don't release it. :( Edit: Another issue, you might want to check the graph on the market, if I hover my mouse over the graph it colors the background red.

I'm sorry to hear that, Starry; my fault entirely for announcing that all stuck armies were "fixed".
I hadn't expected that players would send armies out to occupy oceanic and coastline squares, and the ability to do so was unintentionally released - our apologies for permitting this action.
For every petition we get saying "please return my army" we also get one saying "please don't repatriate my army, it's where I want it for the imminent release".
However I've made a blanket decision, and the last 52 armies that were 'stuck', unrecallably on ocean and coastline squares have now been forcibly repatriated. We will permit them to return once the functionality is actually intended for release.

SC

Btw re: the wild dog/rat thing I was on about earlier... the rats left
the square and the 1 pup remained. Basically just seems like animal NPCs
can accidentally camp out on the same spot. Or maybe not an accident,
seems like something that should be allowed imo. Still there is a
display glitch where it isn't sure if there's rats or dogs or both on
the square.

I'm curious to know what is the official position for players who now have developing coastal sovereignty resulting from what's was basically an exploit (knowingly or unknowingly) of what seems to have been a bug regarding the movement of troops?
I was alerted to this via suspicious tin foil hat rumblings in GC.
Would it not be prudent in the sake of fairness to ask that everyone's ability to occupy and make initial sovereignty claims all begin at the same time?

I've had all sorts of issues since January. Worst is when the city name changes - but it is actually still on the prior city so you issue commands to the old city thinking you are working on the new city. Grrrr.

I'm unable to login to Illy...period. Actually, I can login okay, but after about fifteen seconds both the alliance and global chats fill up with the message:
*** Chat disconnected - retrying ***
and then I'm promptly logged out. Essentially, the game is non-functional for me. Closing the browser, clearing the cache, all of the usual things have no effect on this. I'm using an old Linux system and Firefox.
Are there specific software requirements now (and what are they)? Thanks.

I have this issue using firefox as well, however I'd noticed it before this update came out. I recommend switching browsers (what I did).

Hi all, I'm experiencing very big troubles playing illy while using chrome. When I use the arrows to switch between cities, the name of the cities do not change, the res neither making extremely hard to know what's goin on in the realm.
Anybody else are experiencing this? |
I've had all sorts of issues since January. Worst is when the city name changes - but it is actually still on the prior city so you issue commands to the old city thinking you are working on the new city. Grrrr. |
This happens to me sometimes but is just a lag issue (I think) and goes away if I refresh. |
Nope Rill. It started after the release and olny under chrome. firefox works well for exemple.
But I've try to refresh and yes it works but I have to refresh every page if I want to change from a city to another. Kind of annoying..

I was reading Herald and was looking graph "Number of troops moving". I find it strange that right after the new update 60 million troops were moving. That is many many times more then a day before. Does this graph now contains animal movement as well, not just players?
Also World strategies graph under attack in Herald looks very strange... Legend is bigger then pie chart and practically all strategies are occupy, which is also weird.

Interesting point, Bonaparta. Even though animals now move, I think the number that's more useful to players is the number of player-controlled troops that are moving. If the graph includes NPCs as well, the movements of player troops will be eclipsed.

Likewise... all the NPCs will be on occupy orders... which probably accounts for that slice of the pie.

- Drydenn | These claims will be rescinded - everyone will start at the same time. |
Thank you for the clarification SC! The turtle upon which the universe rides smiles, and tin foil hats everywhere are thusly becalmed.

Luna, I have no general difficulties with other websites. Rarely, there might be a flash glitch or something like that (youtube is non-functional for viewing streaming content now due to my older flash but that's the only major thing), but I do not have problems on other sites. Thanks. I hope you can figure this out.

Silent, I had no problems using firefox before the update. And, switching browsers on my older system is more problematic. (It's what I have to use at the moment.) Thanks for the thought, though.

When is the soverienty problem going to bre resolved? By this I mean that sov squares are no longer shown in the world window and neither are the borders of sov areas so that you cannot see if a resource is within a sov area when searching for res to harvest. I have had to put an disclaimer on my profile in case anyone gets to upset that I am encroacihng within thier sov area.

The market screen does not display any numbers for Volume, Buy, Sell and Average. It just says Vol=--- for example regardless of where on the chart the cursor is.

Here is a list of current known issues relating to the update:- NAP’d player cities are a lighter yellow than neutral cities, which are a darker yellow. However the “NAP” indication no longer shows up in the city information.
- Player's own diplo unit and army now appear green to them rather than blue.
- Confed Alliance members aren’t showing as such when mousing over the cities.
- Chat windows are now floating and moving with the scrolling of the pages.
- All graphs are displaying weird color schemes and textures.
- When attacking an NPC, the picture of the NPC no longer appears in the mini-map on the “Send Army” page.
- Firefox "chat disconnected - retrying" issue
- NPCs in Military Graph
Now that we are past the initial post-patch-release crunch, if you come across any additional bugs please use the normal procedure and file a petition in game.
For now we will keep this as a reference to resolved/in-progress issues available for players to reference.

Luna, could you list the coloring of the different units so I can update this information in my Harvesting guide? I can't easily determine this by myself at the moment.
If I understand correctly, the player's own army and diplo units are green, NAPed players are light yellow, and neutral players are dark yellow, but what about the players in your own alliance or in Confed alliances? What is the color system for the vans? My caravans are yellow while traveling, but have a blue flag while harvesting (which makes it hard for me to know which travelling vans are mine). But what about Alliance members, Confeds, NAPs, neutrals, at war?
Many thanks.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but after an army returns to it's home city, a sword hovers over that city until the troops are taken out of the division and returned to the unit pool.

This may or may not be directly related to the major release, but as far as I can tell, none of the alliance maps have been updated (with new member cities) since April 23rd. Petition # 6215 NR

This also happens with exodus since the update but I haven't been able to get the sword icon to go away as I had no army at my town at the time. Petition 6285
