My brother, GNT and GRT wrote a number of half finished stories and I think they are of decent enough quality to get posted in a forum, rather than rotting. I don't know a good title, but ideas for one, feel free to post! Feel free to post your own/ someone else's stories!
Once a citadel to the living, now a haven to the undead, once the happiest place on earth now a living Hell. The ancient citadel was left by humans when Hel, the goddess of death sent her legions to destroy the living... The ruins had ancient blood encrusted on their walls, over the centuries the woods seemed to grow towards the city of the damned.
It was centuries later when Prof. Edwards, a well known historian stumbled across these ruins. He gasped in awe at the sheer beauty of it, a well kept wall, some towers left, the houses were slowly being eaten up by trees and plants alike. The ancient spires on top of the wall, the paved street... He let his imagination flow. At the other side of the city Hel awoke, she smelt blood. 'Shi...!' exclaimed Edwards as he withdrew his bloodied hand in pain. He didn't expect some metal so old to be so sharp. He cursed and snapped of the piece of metal that once held a drawbridge.
A ghastly cry was heard, not by Edwards but by the undead. They awoke because their mistress called them, called them for war... Edwards looked around, the Sun was setting, he should get back to the village.
Chapter 1.
'Yo Prof!' shouted the young adventurer 'Find anything?' 'Nothing to interested you, you little blonde midget' the Prof smiled 'Unless you want to see a massacre.' 'You bet!' The 'midget' was on his feet saluting, he only reached the Profs shoulder, being 5'7 next to a 6'1 did make him look small but that didn't hinder him. 'Okay, tomorrow at nine we'll go there.' said Edwards already getting into his tent.' Put the dogs out!' 'Yessir!' Henry saluted again and marched over to the cart where the dogs were kept. Ten minutes later Henry had them tied to poled around the camp, like Edwards always said: Better safe than sorry. 'Night Prof!' Henry yawned as he clambered into his tent. 'Night Henry.' Edwards replied.
As night fell on Xyrchoyk, the citadel teemed with life... Well, movement. Corpses were digging their way to the surface, dragons were being personally awoken by the Norse goddess and other creatures like trolls, goblins and other forms that lived in the deep. None were as well known as Fenrir, leader of Thor and Odin's wolves came to join the hunt with his pack brothers. A dog yelped... The shadow moved closer... The dog barked... The shadow moved closer... The dog bit, scratched and gave its all to stop the intruder... The shadows head was shown in the pale moonlight... The dog was silenced, soon the rest would also be... Niddhog flew over to the next dog and gave a grin, the dogs couldn't harm him, because he, like most dragons was invincible.
In the morning the first thing Henry always did was feed the dogs. As soon as he came out of his tent and looked around he doubled over and threw up his last two meals and a bottle of whiskey he secretly hid for himself. As he looked round again with nothing to throw up with he saw whole chunks of dog here and there. A gut here, a head there, a goblin arm here, a whole dog impaled by the pole which held it, a... A WHAT?! 'PROF?! WAKE UP!!' Henry yelled with his silver crossbow aiming at the tree edges. 'WHAT!?' Edwards yelled backed. As he got out of the tent he too had the same experience Henry has half a minute ago. 'We need new dogs.' Edwards said after a while. Henry shook his head. 'We need to leave here?' the Prof guessed. 'Nope.' 'You want to kill me?' Henry shook his head again at the Prof who was starting to get really frustrated. 'You want a pay rise?' Henry considered this but quickly declined. 'You want to live in Burma?!' Henry calmly shook his head. 'Then WHAT?!' Henry shot a bolt in the severed goblin arm. 'Oh my goodness...' Edwards started. 'She is here, RUN!' Henry did. 'Go to the Americas and live! Here death will find you!' Edwards yelled after him.
Slowly Edwards turned round. 'Hi babes.' he said. 'Need some of this?' He tapped his neck. 'That might be nice...' Arygonia replied as she stepped out of the shadows. 'Hel's back.' she whispered in his ear. 'I know.' Edwards whispered back. 'Aaargh!!' Edwards exclaimed in pain as the six foot brunette sunk her upper fangs into his main vein. Edwards winced and bit his lip.' I might begin to like this.' he finally managed to say. Slowly a smile appeared on his lips and he could feel she was smiling too. He felt Arygonia's clothes, silk and leather. He smiled, could this be his day?
Chapter 2.
On the second night since her awakening Hel once again rallied her armies and talked with the generals and captains. Her whole army silenced as she came into view on the highest tower or what remained of it anyway. 'Brothers and sisters!' she started, 'We have awoken on a glorious day! Man is weak and wear no armour!' she held up a glinting crossbow, 'Their weapons are useless, they have forgotten us and forgotten fear, let us remind them of both!' as the legions applauded in the way they did she smiled. This time there would be no stopping her, this time there would be no Odin or his family to stop her, they would still be asleep.
Even from this distance Henry could hear the cheering. 'So my weapons are bloody useless now?' he snarled.' You cow, I'll take them back or die showing how they are used....' He paused for a second, 'or die trying.' he added. Henry heard a branch break. He jumped up, what was it? He peered into the darkness, was anything there? Slowly he could make out something... 'What the ...?' he said slowly backing away.
As morning came and the first beams of sunlight started to break into the tent Edwards was starting to wake. Untangling himself from the rough blanket he looked around and saw Arygonia putting on her top. 'Need some help with that?' Edwards smiled. 'No thanks,'she started whilst turning round to face him 'Need some help with your clothes?' Edwards looked round finding not a trace of any clothes. He sighed. 'I give up, where are they?' 'You have to look for them.' she said smiling. After a few embarrassing minutes of Edwards finding his clothes and some even longer minutes dressing he came out of the tent and found that Arygonia was helping herself to one of Henry's whiskeys. He grinned as he remembered what happened when he last saw that bottle in Henry's hand. 'Thanks for yesterday.' Arygonia said as she was reaching for an apple on the floor. 'My pleasure,' Edwards responded 'I will never forget last night...' Quick as a flash she turned round and threw the apple at Edwards who managed to catch it inches from his face. 'I meant the blood.' she said and attempted to stare him down. 'Well, you have repaid me in full.' he grinned. With this her lip corners started to quiver and turned into a smile. 'Oh yeah,' she said 'What will we do about that goddess of death?' 'You mean Hel?' Edwards asked raising an eyebrow. 'Duh! Who else is a goddess of death?' 'Well..... There are quite a few-' 'Save it for later, over the past years I have listened to a dozen of your lectures and the only one I remember is the time when your cut yourself with a paper.' 'Paper-cut me!' Edwards grunted.'Anyway, thanks for the compliment but what is your plan about our immortal fiend?' 'We could attack her with paper...' Arygonia giggled. 'Listen, your jokes are like three centuries old!' Edwards started, as he saw Arygonia cringe he decided to continue 'plus you made them all up and people never found them funny!' He smiled triumphantly. 'There was one old lady who...' she muttered 'WHAT ABOUT HEL?' Edwards yelled 'Where?' Arygonia said swirling round and went into fighting stance. 'What am I going to do with you' Edwards sighed. 'We could let her be for a few centuries...'Arygonia suggested. 'That would be great all except my new food supply and your normal food supply would then have run out and we would be as weak as giants...' Edwards reminded her. 'Mmmm forgot about that.' she said turning to face the still rising Sun.'OK, lets go!' With this she looked at the forest and was gone. 'How can she forget about food?' he said shaking his head. He too turned and looked at the rising Sun then too disappeared into the forest leaving the bloodied camp behind them.
And now another story:
Across the great plains of Algrur and over the the Titan Neck mountains was a vast kingdom that stretched from the Sea of the Living to the Ocean of the Dead. The kingdom was ruled from its capital, this huge citadel had many names. It was most well known to the citizens as the City of the Stars, other names were The Shield of Asteride or The Stronghold of the Gods. The Lord and master of this kingdom was a wise and respected king called Lord Esrii. In all the years he had reigned there was peace through the whole land and trade routed with their allies. Towns became cities and fortresses became huge citadels. Everyone worshipped their king and also their God, the God who gave life and light, LORD ASTERIDE. All was well for many years until a cry was was heard from the wilderness, until the wind itself whispered the of war and the earth grew silent.
Over the Ocean of the Dead the mighty warlike kingdom of Ferros had fallen to darkness, people said this huge force was like a shadow, a shadow that only grew, forever stretching never faltering. The earth itself cried in pain as the hand of the shadow shattered all the lands it came to. The wind remembered all the cries of the wounded and the dying, the rain recalled how it washed rivers of bodies and oceans of blood away. The earth remembered and the earth wept how this very same force once destroyed the very reason to live. Some of the ancient creatures that fought against the Devru remembered how they slew their own brothers and sisters, husbands and wives. The Devru still left their mark on the face of the earth, the servants of Death would never stop trying to claim the earth as theirs and worship their one master.
The last harvest had just been reaped and the land and people were both getting ready for winter. A young man walked through the Forrest of Labe, home of the dryads. The leaves crunched underfoot and the branches swayed high above the ground. The blonde man tensed his ears for the slightest change of sound carried by the wind, the slightest crack of a twig as it broke underfoot. 'Arlos...' A breeze of the wind carried his name to him. 'Arlos...' the woods whispered again. 'Mum? Anna? Sez?' he said looking around for a sign of movement. 'Arlos...' the woods whispered once again. This was too much for him. 'Please, I need to see you!' Arlos cried. 'Please hurry, we are weakening...' a voice whispered. Arlos looked down and saw leaves slowly regenerating and changing from brown to green and floating without wind to the trees that made them. He followed the leaves until he came to three trees. Using the fading powers of their trees three dryads appeared in leaf form from the leaves they had healed. 'Arlos?' the smallest of the dryads said 'I am sorry I am not stronger but you must know that I love you.' With this she walked up to him and kissed him on his cheek. 'I love you always...' she said before her powers faded and the leaves died and got blown away by the wind. 'I love you too.' he said before walking up to the young tree and respectfully kissing it. 'Arlos?' the largest dryad asked. 'Yes mum?' Arlos replied ' Will you tell me the reason I had to come?' 'Yes' the smaller dryad burst in. 'Anna, let me talk to your brother, then you may talk later.' the elder one said.
Chapter One.
'We must be prepared to fight the enemy!' the general shouted as he slammed his fist on the map. 'Sir Sangris is right.' Lord Esrii said. 'Sadly we are not a warlike people and we will hardly be a match for their troops, we might hold them off at sea though. Admiral how many ships do we have?' he looked at the old admiral.'Grath?' The old man looked up. 'We have lost half our fleet yesterday when they were half a days sailing from Malkris.' There was a long silence. 'The number of ships we have are irrelevent. They strike from under the sea, remember that this is the Ocean of the Dead we are talking about. This is where the shadow was beaten by Asteride and Ferros and forced into the sea.' the admiral look around. 'General?' Lord Esrii finally asked. 'Yes my lord?' 'What can we do? How can we survive?' 'Well, the best I can do right now is point out that if we hold the four citadels of Asteride for two months then we can call on the warriors of Labe-' someone scoffed. 'You think the dryads aren't good fighters? I will tell you now that if it were not for the dryads and their brothers dragon lords there would be no Asteride or Fellos!' 'There isn't!' a noble shouted. 'Haven't you heard the news? Fellos has fallen and Tsawerine is under siege!' 'The point that I am trying to make is that the dryads and dragon lords will save us again!' Sangris shouted. Not half a second had passed when a bloodied messenger burst into the room. 'Forgive me lord for the news I bring' he managed to say before coughing up blood. ' Labe has decided it will not fight and the dragon lords are neck deep in battle with the shadow.' his final seconds were coming and the council could see that. 'Dryon...,' he murmered. 'What about Dryon?' the king yelled and shook the messenger. 'Has..has...fallen......' with saying this he was no more and went to be with LORD ASTERIDE. The council was stunned by the news and said no more. They went to their lord of offered him their condolences, it was they who said Dryon was a safe place for his heavily pregnant wife and heir. 'Sangris?' Lord Esrii asked. 'I truly am sorry Esrii, I myself will go to find out what happened.' 'Thank you brother.' Esrii managed to say before breaking down into tears. As the council came out of the war chamber a huge shadow passed overhead, the council thought it must have been a cloud but they were wrong because it was a clear night and there was no wind.
And that is all from GSoG for now! P.S Those were written by my bro!
