I don't get the point of this. People are going to complain that their alliance wasn't on the list (where's HUGS btw?) and obviously most people will vote for their on alliance. But anyway, I'm going with every crow alliance that's not in the Top 10. =P -------------  |

My view is clearly biased: You should check out http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/Alliance/Alliance/516" rel="nofollow - the Old Republic . I know this is not a concept for all Illy players. But our democratic structure prevents arrogance and offers the possibility to participate to all players. To be elected in higher positions depends mainly on activity and less on size. I think this is also a interesting concept for large players, as it offers a lot of possibilities to exchange with other players. I think it is in some ways a training alliance, that allows to get training in diplomatic and illy-policy issues (and not to leave it only to the large players). I do not know, if this makes us “the best” (sounds quite subjective). But it is clearly a unique concept. |

Many are niche alliances that don't try to be all things to all people like some of the top 10 do. (Nothing wrong with an alliance with broad appeal, my own alliance nCrow falls in that category.) Overall, I guess my question would be "Best for what?" |

WoT is the best, of course!  But we aren't a loud and in your face alliance. We love new members and want to help them grow and have fun, but I very rarely recruit actively. We'd much rather people find us by getting to know us in GC and deciding we are an alliance they want to be a part of. WoT has grown by having almost no active player leave us after joining. As each of our new members grows, he or she then is excited to pass on the help they've received and make others feel welcome. We are family here at the Wheel No matter who votes or how, I know we are a wonderful alliance!

Maybe it shouldn't be "best". Maybe most interesting? The function of this is for folks to discuss the various merits of the medium sized alliances out there that many people don't know that much about... (and polls only have 10 slots, otherwise I would have put 20 up there!) |

Well I think it would help to specify in what relation you are comparing "us". There are pro's and con's to everything, but the term "best" is just so unspecific and comprehensive that its not clear what we are talking about. I may be a touchy old git, but at some point it seems slightly undignified to throw salespitches for your alliance in popularity contests on the forum. I choose to abstain but otherwise welcome a debate on strategy and the respective approaches of semi-large alliances to the game and the task of governing. |

The "democratic" structure of TOR is an interesting concept, indeed. Elections and governing bodies work in the real world because there is a vested interest of the governed to participate. Participation is sometimes more difficult to come by in Illyriad.
That is a very true statement. Only time will tell whether this is successful or not. Meanwhile, I faithfully watch too. The top ten alliances hold the majority of the power in Elgea. It's not a popularity or a population contest. It's who backs who. Time is the greatest ally to the patient. ------------- |

It would be really interesting to start this poll again ... and ask the people in the 10 alliances to NOT vote ... would be interesting to see the results when people aren't voting for their own and to see the type of conversation that would ensue ... which I think was the intent .... I admit it -- I voted WoT! Just for discussion ... I joined WoT because there is a good combination of peeps with a lot of Illy technical knowledge, background info (always helpful to know why some situations have developed) wit and a true helpful attitude ... oh and a few real jokers who are just plain funny ... and BAD! (Yeah -- you know who you are .... really -- getting people to streak through chat and all that ... tsk tsk!) |

I don't see why harmless people are fooled by the harmless nature of Harmless when they engage in harmless posts regarding non-Harmless harmless activities.
