A hostile Army is incoming due in 6 hrs.

Since this is only day 8 of play for me, I have a very small Army of Militiamen only.

What can I do to ease my impending pain?

Get more guys and build up your city wall...do you have any magic spells working on your town ?

Also use up all your resources to build something and leave them nothing to steal...

Being only a week in the game, I have no city walls.  I don't even have a level 7 Quarry yet.  Close, but not there yet.  In retrospect, I should have used my Protection Period to build only resource improvements and Library.  But that seemed kinda boring so I tried doing other stuff.  It's still kinda boring to just upgrade mines, etc.

Will a Vault protect resources from the invading horde?

Also, No Magic.  No Bookbinders.  Still trying to get Lvl 5 Mage Twr.
8 days of play doesn't let a player get very far in bldg lvl or resch.

My assaillant has a Pop=317 [compared to my Pop =101] so I figure he is much more advanced and his Army is likely well beyond anything I could resist even with a few more weeks under my belt - Borg "resistance is futile" comes to mind.

Does it make sense to throw a tiny army against him only to get wiped out and give him XP?

Should I send my Army away and hope his Army leaves before my Army returns?

What happens if I am sieged?  What does a siege do to me?  Can I produce from my own city resources?

If I am seiged and bombarded, then am I basically out of the game?

The_Dude.

Are they the incoming Diplos or Military?
You can check it if you click on the Diplos or Military at the topright Unit Movements.

Vault will protect resources yes, but only the amount it says.
You can check it by clicking the vault.

You can send your army away if you think you cant make it.
He cannot siege you yet, because he is too small to have it.

Also, if you have more questions come to http://webchat.quakenet.org - http://webchat.quakenet.org
Channel Illyriad
I am there mostly of the time, or maybe other people can answer your questions.

It's an incoming Army, not diplo.  Unknown Size and composition.  Good to know I can't be seiged yet.  My Vault is large enough to protect my resources on hand.

So what happens if I have no Army present when his Army arrives?  My resources are less than my Vault limit.  No Walls.  Will I suffer damage to my buildings?

Wuzzel,

I'm a Luddite.  I went to the Chat link but I couldn't figure it out.  How do I chat with you when I am in there?

the attacker can't damage your buildings without siege equipment.

in short, if everything is protected by your vault, the attacker will get nothing.

Hey, that is great news.  In the meantime, I have made the choice that Military Commanders have made for eons.  When facing overwhelming enemy forces, COUNTER-ATTACK!  So my feeble Army has set out on a Campaign against my enemy's Capital.  Now it is just a matter of time.

I can't type anything.  I don't get a cursor and no response to my keystrokes in the Chat.

Wuzz:
"
[11:00] <@Wuzzel|w**ker> at the bottom you see something blinking
[11:01] <@Wuzzel|w**ker> type something and hit enter
[11:01] <@Wuzzel|w**ker> the text will appear"
I don't have anything at the bottom - nothing blinking.

Yep, it's one way.  I use Explorer V. 8. "you selected the bar?"  What bar?  I can't "select" anything.  I see members list on the right and some info at the top.

It works fine for me with FF and IE8.
Both latest update.

I keep my Windows fully updated.
So I have just received the Gift of Nourishment.  I didn't do this.
How did this happen?  Random event?  Or do I have a benefactor?

The last one.
Click on your magic summary to see who cast it on you :)

Yeah, I found that and I have sent him a msg. of thanks.

I always wanted to be a Trust-Fund Baby!Smile

Wow, this Trust Fund thing really pays off.  I just accepted an Invite to join SWQ alliance.  Which has an Alliance with my attacker, SHL, and POOF - no more inbound enemy army!

But my oubound to his Capital is still outbound.  I guess that is an oops.

Posted By: The_Dude
Date Posted: 11 Apr 2010 at 17:27
Well, never mind.  Now the inbound hostile has re-appeared.

Posted By: The_Dude
Date Posted: 11 Apr 2010 at 17:32
Wha?!  Now the hostile inbound has disappeared again.  My Military Tab still has the Red box on it.  But the inbound is now shown not as a hostile, but as an Ally and I see info about the Army.  Something is a bit buggy here.

Date Posted: 11 Apr 2010 at 17:34
So the inbound is now listed as an inbound friendly on my Military Summary.  I assume that when it arrives, nothing will happen.

it's not going to arrive. the troops are moving away from your town not to it.

likewise, your troops should be returning to you.

I HOPE THIS WORKS.  HERE IS MY MILITARY MOVEMENT SCREEN.  IT SHOWS IN BOUND FRIENDLY - USED TO BE HOSTILE PRIOR TO ME JOINING SWQ.  IT SHOWS MY ARMY AS STILL OUT BOUND.  NOTE I DELETED THE COUNTS FOR BOTH JUST TO PRESERVE SOME SECRETS. :)

When his Army arrived, I received a System generated Battle Report.  My Army was away in route to his Capital so there was no defense and his Army suffered no damage.  I had some Gold and Food in excess of my Vault limits but none was taken.  So the once-enemy/now-friendly Army continued its mission, but appears to not actually execute upon arrival.  Interesting stuff.

And When my Army arrived at his City, I rec'd a System Msg that said my attack was Aborted cuz I can't attack an Ally.  And now my poor excuse for an Army is returning home.

Yes, the system takes into account any changes in friend/enemy statuses at alliance/confederation level not only before a military attack is sent, but also when it arrives - and "reinterprets" orders accordingly.

Good to see it's working \o/
