I am (and have been my whole life) a vegetarian... With that said: I think our cities cows should become an emergency food supply when our main food runs out! Perhaps even a feature to convert cows to food (like the book binder/library feature). What are your thoughts? Mmmoooooooo..... (^_^)

The current emergency food supply appears to be "long pork." As can be seen from the pop loss of a food shortage.

We should be able to convert livestock and horses into food on demand. Bottom line is they are meat and can be eaten--so why aren't they?

You could have the convert option be added to the flour mil, although having animals slaughtered where grain is suppose to be made....

I would think at some level, your cows are being eaten anyway, and the food you would gain is just deducted from the cost.

All cows used in the city are consumed by workers at the invisible "Slaugherhouse" building.

And Orcs should bring food home aswell as gold when they kill elves.

And whats to stop elves eating orcs... they are made from mud anyway, so even Jain buddhist elves can eat them.

PS couldn't vote on this as no relevant option for me, I am a meat eater, but strictly not a sh!te eater.

Thats why I eat big macs :D
(I stopped because it way cheaper to cook food at home and alot healthier. Not to mention that home made hamburgers and fries taste better. )
So basically the poster just wants a simpler way then just selling the cows for food. I'm in but lets make the orcs eat horses.

You'll be eating horses when Orc raiders have eaten all your farmers.

I'd like to establish a fishing village on the shores of the nearby lake. That would keep the people fed.

I would like to suggest that when orcish troops kill some elven troops they get gold as well as food for reward.
P.S. Darkwood who ever told you that we orcs are made from mud is terribly wrong. I'm a proud product of anysogamy between mama orc gamete and papa orc gamete.

that would not be fair to other races, Bonaparta, because when they killed orcish troops there would be nothing worthwhile left to gather, since all orcs are good for is fighting ... or so some orcs would have us believe.
/me does not believe in racial stereotypes in Illy or elsewhere

Or at the very least use livestock as a replacement for seige blocks.

Its not so meaningful to change cows to food since they cost food in the first place to produce.

Could be done on a system like books and research cost, ie. the cows give less food than they take to make in the first place, but really I do not see the point in all the programming for this.
Would rather the devs spend their time on AI, advanced magic or something else.

No, if this were made as a game function the food that is from slaughtering the cows should be more. Cows grow over time and have more food to eat off of them, so they should yield more food. Books on the other hand decrease in value because they deteriorate with age, so the research obtained is less than what it took to make the book.

You put this in game then cows cost will go up, food prices will go up a little bit, catapult prices will go up, leather will go up...
I say leave Illyriad as it is on this mess. No point to implement something that has very little use. I mean really, who would waist one more plot just to build something to turn cows back into food. Just like books, what will it be? 1 hour per cow to make 60 food? If you want food so bad, just turn right around and sell the cows for money, then buy the food.

Can this feature (like research/books) be added please.... (^_^)

Because in every single situation save for getting on and only having minutes to spare to save your town from auto destruction, it would be better to sell the cows and buy food.

I like the idea of turning cows into food, when you use them for making saddles and leather armor. It always bothered me, what happens to the rest of the cow? You use the hide to make stuff, but what about all that beef, especially when you use 2 cows to makes saddles. Could make a slaughter house that converts so much meat from used cows, depending on lvl. Be like T2 magic buildings for boosting magic cities, but for people who do lots of production. Plus could be like a library for people who have lots of cows, converts them to food, but for less then it took to make them.

And in this particular case it would reinforce the use of Orcs in warlike fashions while helping them catch up in effectiveness to the fairer races.

We should be able to get food from cows if for no other reason than that it would enable the transportation of food in greater quantities.
