I think the account sitter feature should be abolished.  Because no one uses it as intended.

They are more frequently used to have multiple alts when players quit than to babysit during brief vacations.

Does anyone actually find account sitters useful?

Someone should make a poll about it!

I am discussing it in a general way.  People should not be able to do what his account sitter is doing.  There should be more limits on it.

Does anyone know how to make a poll?

I've never heard of anyone actually using an account sitter as it was intended to be used.

Account sitting is a game-mechanic, and Illy is a sandbox.

You don't have to like it. But sadly (or perhaps happily) you cannot do anything about it. (At least not on the forum - you could always try showing your disapproval with your armies.)

I can suggest that more limits be put on account sitters in the suggestion forum. And give examples of how the mechanism is being abused.  Which is what I've done here.

Post what was typed in global chat so the community has a good idea what this thread is all about.

Has anyone copied and pasted the global chat confession? If so, post it here.

Thanks.

It is not fact until you post what was said in global chat. If this is not done, no one will believe you.

Here is a prime example of what not to do when starting a thread accusing said player of doing something bad due to what they read in chat. Then on top of that, fail to copy and paste the conversation onto a word document to support his or her opinion of what was said in a chat.

I mean I can make up a story also the same way, but it will be only made up unless there was a nice screenshot taken to supporting it.

I would contact Sunforce so he can further train you in the ways of the screenshot force. May the force be with you always.

It's probably not illegal that she's doing it.  I repeat one last time that all I'm saying is my own opinion that it shouldn't be.

I don't know why you are taking that opinion as a personal attack when you claim it's legal and a perfectly ethical thing to do.  What I'm saying has nothing to do with Fluffy, who was my friend as well as your's.  It's about how the account is being used now that he's on hiatus.

Since you have no evidence to support your claim, your claim is claimless.

Since a screenshot was not taken to support the OP's claim, I would recommend the person's account named in question be removed from all posts in this thread.

OP must understand the consequences of blaming a player or players for wrong doing without a screenshot to support his or her claim.

The consequence will possibly lead to the OP being attacked or sieged due to lack of evidence supporting his or her claim.

I forsee this happening.

Jane is a fellow Crow and no one from HUGS has any desire to see her attacked or harmed in any way.  Nor should anyone be attacked for expressing an opinion in the forum.

I'm going to stop arguing with you, Rill, I've more than made the point I was trying to convey.  If you have further comments, please send them via private message.

Account sitting seems useless.

what's wrong in a sitter being able to send armies to a stone? A sitter could participate in a war on your behalf, tournament is not half as serious as that!

I think you can type something in the global chat window to pull up the last 24 hours quite easily.

How would you suggest Account Sitting was 'intended' to be used, Jane?
This is a genuine question, BTW.

Actually, having never been away from Illy more than a week or so, I have yet to draw full advantage of sitting, however, I have allowed new players to sit my account in the past so that they could send themselves basic resources from my cities, meaning I dont have to.

I know thats not how sitting is intended, but it really makes the game far more enjoyable that you can assist your allies with resources without having to go through the daily tedium of dispatching caravan after caravan. Maybe this feature could be altered to fit the game/intended purpose, like e.g. a pool of allied cities providing free resources for the new players to pick up as they like.

I have to say I disagree with Jane about the sitting option never being used at it is intended tho - many of my allies have utilised the sitting option when they have gone off for a holiday. Even if its just to allow little tweaks and details to be sorted while away, its always good to leave your account in ACTIVE hands - that way you don't get any nasty surprises when you come back.

This thread has gotten quite confusing after having most of the content removed by the original posters. I've cleaned up any empty replies but for now I'd prefer it if everyone would continue this discussion in the second thread that has a poll.

I want to hear everyone's thoughts but let's try to keep it all in one place. If you need to reiterate your points in the new thread, feel free. Thank you.

Luna
