Conversation I had in AC tonight:

[30 Nov 01:15]
<Createure> has been a slow period for a while now
[30 Nov 01:17]<Anjire> I still need a month or more to recover
[30 Nov 01:17]<Anjire> I decimated my forces in 4 of my cities in order to move the cities
[30 Nov 01:17]<Anjire> but I should have a very powerful cluster when I am finished
[30 Nov 01:17]<Createure> mhm I've just been staggering my move more... like 4 so far...
[30 Nov 01:18]<Createure> and those are about 60% rebuilt
[30 Nov 01:18]<Createure> still got 3 or maybe 4 more to move at some point
[30 Nov 01:18]<Createure> yeh 3 more to move... prob no more
[30 Nov 01:20]<Createure> anyhow yeh I'm really ducking out now
[30 Nov 01:21]<Createure> I have like 2 or 3 beer and I forget it is still early in the week tongue, :P
[30 Nov 01:21]<Anjire> I have too, one every week and 1/2 or so
[30 Nov 01:21]<Anjire> One city left to move
[30 Nov 01:22]<Createure> hmm... my first 2 moves were the essential ones... did those quickly... after that just taking my time more....
[30 Nov 01:22]<Createure> tbh not particularly happy about food glitch remaining open...
[30 Nov 01:22]<Createure> so not too bothered relocating much right now
[30 Nov 01:23]<Anjire> Have they responded to your inquiries at all?
[30 Nov 01:23]<Createure> nope nothing
[30 Nov 01:23]<Rhea> how is the food glitching?
[30 Nov 01:24]<Createure> really I like alot about Illy... but I'm not interested in playing a game where people get rewarded for playing it 'the wrong' way
[30 Nov 01:24]<Createure> @Rhea: at the moment (and since many many months) people can max a city out to 25K+ population (on 5 food tiles) and then run them with huge negative food income a 0 food in store
[30 Nov 01:25]<Createure> and still gain enormous taxrevenue
[30 Nov 01:25]<Createure> which is particularly advantageous to the meta gamers
[30 Nov 01:25]<Createure> who have built dense hubs of closely packed cities
[30 Nov 01:25]<Createure> like 9 cities in a 3x3 area
[30 Nov 01:25]<Rhea> I was under the impresson that they changed that
[30 Nov 01:25]<Anjire> I am not sure but I think they do have a bandaid fix in place - in that your taxes get set to where you are making positive food and if it isn't possible then the taxes are set at 0%
[30 Nov 01:26]<Anjire> They were going to change it but didn't
[30 Nov 01:26]<Createure> @Anj: nope - that was never implemented
[30 Nov 01:26]<Createure> and it should be!...
[30 Nov 01:26]<Createure> I really have no idea why the devs haven't done that
[30 Nov 01:26]<Anjire> Okay, the thread is confusing of yes, no, yes, no, and so forth
[30 Nov 01:26]<Createure> I've asked them so many times
[30 Nov 01:27]<Rhea> so the can run food in the negative and nothing happens sad, :(
[30 Nov 01:28]<Createure> when food run into negative - you cannot make new production/construction/reserach... but still you gain huge taxes
[30 Nov 01:28]<Createure> there are easy ways to get round this though
[30 Nov 01:29]<Createure> (you keep food saved on the market for large sell prices and cancel the offer when you want to ques something [you can see current culprits on the market right now])
[30 Nov 01:29]<Rhea> It would be nice to know if they were atleast working on it
[30 Nov 01:29]<Createure> (or you just ship small food shipment from other towns in order to continue ques)
[30 Nov 01:29]<Createure> indeed Rhea... I agree 100%... I have asked the devs directly about this many times
[30 Nov 01:30]<Createure> as have other people
[30 Nov 01:30]<Createure> and no response
[30 Nov 01:30]<Createure> which is why I've siad I'm leaving Illy at the New Year if this has not been fixed
[30 Nov 01:31]<Rhea> I hope you don't leave -- you would definately be missed
[30 Nov 01:31]<Createure> hate to sound like a raging kid and all... because I hate that...
[30 Nov 01:31]<Createure> but honestly... months is months... and this has been a confirmed glitch (by the devs) for months
[30 Nov 01:31]<Rhea> hopefully they will fix it before then so you will stay
[30 Nov 01:32]<Createure> yeh I hope so too.
[30 Nov 01:32]<Createure> because I know these devs work hard
[30 Nov 01:32]<Createure> but a glitch is a glitch - and it should have top prioriety over new development imo
[30 Nov 01:33]<Rhea> if someone is abusing the glitch, they should send them a warning then if no response suspend their accounts
[30 Nov 01:33]<Createure> I guess so Rhea... although it is more complicated than that I guess
[30 Nov 01:34]<Rhea> then others would atleast think twice about using a glitch
[30 Nov 01:34]<Createure> because people have built their entire accounts around this
[30 Nov 01:34]<Createure> for a long time this gamestyle was not confirmed a glitch... it was just a slightly dubious game mechanic
[30 Nov 01:35]<Createure> but the thing is... since this thing has been confirmed a glitch...; exodus has been released
[30 Nov 01:35]<Createure> and people have been given many months to restyle their account (or suffer the consequences)
[30 Nov 01:35]<Createure> now... it is (long overdue imo) for this glitch to finally be closed
[30 Nov 01:36]<Rhea> then I'd say it's time the inforce it with suspensions
[30 Nov 01:37]<Createure> perhaps... although really the simplest solution would be just to close the damn glitch (for tax rates to 0% for cities with 0 food and negitve income)
[30 Nov 01:37]<Createure> *force tax rates to 0% etc.
[30 Nov 01:37]<Rhea> that would be the best solution, but I would think if it was that easy they would have done it
[30 Nov 01:37]<Createure> all it would take would be rewriting a few lines of code.
[30 Nov 01:38]<Createure> I see what you say Rhea... but if it was not that simple I would like to know WHY
[30 Nov 01:38]<Createure> because it seems pretty simple to me

I can assure you that the dev team is very aware of the issue and are working toward a resolution for it. Hope that helps.

Forcing the tax rate to zero doesn't actually fix the problem, if you think about it in a wider context - which is why we haven't fixed it in that manner.

We do have a fix to the issue currently undergoing testing.  It's critical that this fix code is correct as it's quite "destructive" if it's wrong, and so the testing process is taking longer than normal.

speaking of glitches, walls don't level down to 12 when you use Exodus.  Just thought I'd mention it, I think the devs are aware.

I know you have been working like mad on things like installing the new server.

Thanks for all you do!

Rill,
Walls also do not add pop while consuming food.

I thought I had heard they actually don't consume food either, even though they're supposed to.  I guess I better check my cities.

OK, now everyone knows that I don't rigorously examine my resource summary.  I might care more about it when I have a city that has more than 5k population.
