Greetings Illyriad community, This week the kingdom reached a significant milestone with the registration of our 100,000th account. As that number grows each day, we continue to happily welcome new players into the fold. In recognition of your continued support of Illyriad, the development team and I wanted to take a moment to thank all of our players. As a token of our gratitude, all active accounts as of the time of this posting have been granted 50 free prestige. We hope that you enjoy your time in game and know that you are appreciated. The team has a lot of exciting things in the works and we look forward to the future and continued growth of Illyriad. So everyone from King Sigurd of llyriad (ac# 1) to juanfera (ac# 99999) gets 50 prestige? Where the  is the balance in that? Thanks for supporting us for all of 30 seconds junfera.... here's a bonus that numerous people have spent real money on for months and a whole load of others didn't... don't worry every gets the same regardless of what they've put in.------------- Doesn't look good... doesn't look bad either! My bad... I tried to resist myself for comparing to the RL stuff. I forgot that its the same in cyberspace as in RL. The more effort you put in the more you're ignored and the more others get the rewards for what you to. I know this opens me up for a load of broadsides so fire away peeps... couldn't give a anymore. I was particularly thinking about Beau and his reviews on this one though and how much business he has brought to the game (and headaches for the older players). ------------- Doesn't look good... doesn't look bad either! I'm saving the T-shirt I get from the meet and greet for you, Mana. Thank you for all you've done for Illy. There is probably not a player who grew beyond 100 population without reading at least one of your guides, not to mention your work on the mysteries and so many other things. A month is a lot longer?
I can see where he's coming from. Rewarding some guy who happened to create an account at the right time the same way you'd reward a guy who has given you a lot money than what you're about to refund can be frustrating. No offence to the newbies but I don't think you guys deserve it either. That said however, I do agree that you can't give free prestige to some members and not others without it being for some kind of contest or tournament. It was cause a lot of trouble and that's not something I'd want the GMs to have to deal with.

 i was an alpha tester. don't often talk in chat or forum post tbh except when things really get on my tits, like this thing. and no, before you ask, i don't know anythin special about anything as the game has changed pretty much completely since i tested it and i wasnt involved in testing any of the changes.
where do you people come from? a gift is a gift is a gift. take it or gtfo, but dont complain that little jonny got a better gift than you or that you are older than your brother and that your gift should have been bigger than his just because you're older! really, children, grow up. as to where my last comment came from? it's these players such as mana and The_Dude who believe they're special because once upon a time they posted something and helped some newbies out and they now occasionally drop into gc to have their egos massaged based on their glory days when they were relevant and useful to the game. and now were hearing that theyre entitled to "more" than anyone else, when its a free gift ffs. really people, get over yourselves. And the plot thickens. Do we really need to get into the whole jealousy thing here? Yes, some players actually make an effort to interact and help people within the game however judging them based on the fact that they actually do something is ridiculous. And yes, I do think those people are a hell of a lot more important than some random guy who just created an account yesterday or the guy who posts under a different forum name than his game account. However as I've already said, I do not think it would be a good idea to reward those players rather than the others. Not because the people who actually have done something aren't more deserving of a reward for it but because it would cause massive problems with the GMs and cause a lot of complaints. I see where mana is coming from and frankly, I think you do too if you stop and think about it. If you worked your butt off at work every day for 15 years and then everyone including the new guy who's been there for 2 days got a raise (of the same amount), you'd probably be pretty angry too. ------------- |

Then i would suspect it wasnt that much of a volunteering work rather than you tried to achieve something with it. This 50 prestige is not a raise, since there is no payment whatsoever ingame. And on ther other hand, what would it feel like for new players if only the old ones recieved free prestige? make the gap bigger btw new players and old ones? //new player off

I have no problem with everyone getting prestige. Indeed, I think it was a really cool gesture. I do think it would be a good idea for the devs to think about how they could recognize some of the vets who have contributed so much to Illy for so long. I say this with the understanding that I am still relatively new to the game and am not one of the vets in question.

If you feel the time you have spent on the game was enjoyable and worthwhile, you should just be happy that you got 50 free prestige. On a related note, I'm happy I got 50 free prestige. well 50 prest is cool mananannanannaaa is kinda bitter? i understand that. way to many new players... ask me siege engines... have to clear inactive day in day out cause of the placement of some of my towns....yet its fun. after about 1 year and 3/4 months i broke the 70k pop wall...and this also thanks to daily prestige and this gift. all hail illy, its cool and fair. or not. anyway i like it. Hello all, congratulations to the developers on this impressive milestone. Tho a question does impose itself. 100.000 accounts is....quite many. And while Im sure most of them have at some point gone inactive and left the game, the question remain, how many active accounts over say...1000 pop are there in Illyriad at this point? I dont mean to bring rain on this festive parade, but in terms of succes, the staying power of the game is a big factor. So if we want a beacon for our succes in terms of playerbase, we might want to count in those that are A) 30days active & B) Players that have made it beyond the beginners stade. Is there a statistic on this anywhere? Cheers Tordenham. |

In a game that espouses "care-a-vans", essentially free res for having simply signed in to Illyriad and said something in Global Chat, this is mind-blowing. How is prestige any different? If part of the rationale behind care-o-vans is to encourage newbies to stick around, I would think 50 prestige is the devs/illy team way of 1.) thanking longstanding players and 2.) encouraging newbies. Would it help to think of this gift as another form of a care-o-van? Thank you Illyriad team! This is much appreciated.

Hold on here. I empathize (although disagree) with Mana. I'm really excited about the milestone and thankful to the GMs for the nice gift. But where do you get off saying that Mana or TD aren't relevant and useful to the game? Mana and TD are in there almost every time I log in constantly helping new players not just with the "Care-o-vans" that St. Jude likes to malign, but more importantly, with helpful tips and advice to make new players' experiences in the game better. They have both been instrumental in helping build this very positive community we have and I, for one, am appreciative of their considerable efforts. And I know I'm not alone... |

Put of the fun for me is sharing what I have learned. In part, doing that helps me learn new things and correct my misunderstandings. I also enjoy getting to know new people. You are correct that I have an ego, and I do enjoy a good ego massage and a happy ending.  I hope you enjoy Illy, too.  |

I can tell you 110% too (having no hotline to the devs either) that at no point have I ever said I wanted to be a moderator... NOT in the forums NOR in GC or AC. In fact I've said numerous times I don't want to be. You may be confusing me asking for more moderators with requesting to be one... I understand that comments that sound similar can confuse people of limited intelligence. Why have I resulted to an insult? Hell you did with no moderation, so can I! Deal with it... Bitter Sea is dead, long live the Bitter Sea. At no point people did I EVER say I was unappreciative of the free prestige. I asked what made number 99999 more important than number 1 or any number in between in the politest way possible (note the censored emotes) in the mood I was in. I tried to open a forum thread to discussion... NOT argument. I won't make the same mistake again. I will limit my comments from now on to the bare minimum in the forums.
Show me where I have ever shown hatred to new players!!! Show me the attacks with armies or diplomats!!! Where the are they!?!?!? WHERE!!!!
