So yeah, back to public life I returned.

I lied about retiring, I tried fishing, but I didn't like the taste of trout.

So folks, The Dude and Amroth have declared their intent to siege my cities from the game.

I don't think either of them has the skill to do it without help from the Coalition personally.

Anyway, game on folks, stay tuned. Battle reports soon to follow!

ICON will be reformed under another name, those players who wish to stand up to tyrants and bullying are welcome to join!

Be warned, this is not a popular position and should you affiliate, you too may find yourself as the unwanted attention of two sad old men with nothing better to do than stroke their egos in a game called Illyriad.

So you show yourself again to be a person with no honor who just wants to poison the game for others.

Go away.

Please.

Just go away.

No honor? I am not the one siegeing players from the game....

People are starting to see that there is a group of players who feel their position is threatened. I am resolved more than ever to stay here and speak out.

Well, I will only lose 4 small cities, so yeah I would consider that scott fee for sure.

Although, I should probably nerdrage like The_douche and siege myself. Then claim I was metagaming for the lulz.

Well since this is the bitter sea, and since we already made jude feel uncomfortable with personal attacks, mentally, why not spread the fun?

Lorre: while you do have a funny side (battle for a lake) your "patriotic" side is irritating. Every time someone does something you dont like and breaks the "peaceful" realm of illyriad, you feel the need to rile everyone up, call them out on global,  call them out in the forums, gather your dinky crusade support, and continue to call them out while your sieging them into oblivion.  You may have bean all about keeping illy Newbie lovers and no server wide dominance, well guess what, the server has already been dominated.

As promised!

Here is a RESOUNDING defeat where I lost 869 t1 Cavalry and 879 T2 Cav. We'll convert that to XP gained for Amroth and say he gained 3516 worth of XP from the T2 Cav and 2607 XP from the T1 Cav for a total XP gain of 6123 for Amroth.

I also lost 4 commanders, but resurrecting them is better than waiting for their return Big smile

My XP Gain? 11824 from 2956 T2 Cav. OUCH!

Folks, that was a terrible loss for our team! I am not sure I can go on like this.

Two opposing forces clash against each other.

Cavalry comes into its own when able to strike hostile forces at will, and from unexpected directions - and nowhere is this more feasible than on open plains. Lightly armoured spear units, however, prefer terrain where there's some cover available.

Fighting defensively on open plains, cavalry draws strength from the ability to form and reform their lines of engagement depending on the direction of battle, and it is here where cavalry excels.

This is a perfect example on why you should never use cavalry on the defensive.

Packsmen take a 28% hit to their total strength  23 defense vs 32 attack
Runeriders take a 49% hit to their total strength  29 defense vs 57 attack

Charioteers take a 43% hit to their total strength  21 defense vs 37 attack
Knights take a 57% hit to their total strength  28 defense vs 65 attack

There is also a negative to your defense total when occupying a claimed square (6% -10% per level)

Amroth, get out a calculator, you may end up learning something.

For added effect listen to this while analyzing

This is a small skirmish as Amroth has had to employ Affirmative Action to assist in his fail.

Two opposing forces clash against each other.

Bowmen hate it - and even cavalry units have difficulty moving purposefully to attack forested terrain. This is, however, the natural provenance of the footsoldier who excels.

Suffering the same problems as attackers, defending cavalry and ranged units intensely dislike fighting in forested lands. Like the attackers, however, the extra cover and confined spaces is favourite amongst defending swordsmen.

Two opposing forces clash against each other.

Heavily wooded terrain spells difficulty for ranged units and cavalry. Infantry units find they have a large advantage here.

Like the attackers, these thick forests do not provide much assistance for anyone except your footsoldiers, who take great pleasure in the extra cover afforded to them.

Really there is nothing surprising here, and heroism wouldn't even be necessary.  This is just a basic tactical exercise.

163 cavalry defending in trees, where their defense ability is cut by 50%.  Cavalry is weak against spearmen anyway, so their total defense power probably amounted to about 1550.

Attacked by 80 orcish spearmen and some infantry, whose attack ability is increased 50% by the forest.  Total attack power something close to 3050.

Heroism may have helped, but in this fight I would have expected Jill to win with about 50% casualties without commander bonuses.  Actual casualties were 43%.  Cavalry should never be left in a forest square because killing them there is about as hard as killing a pack of NPC wolves.

Daufer, our testing does not show the same modifiers that you are stating here with regards to terrain. I could be missing something, but I am pretty sure those numbers are wrong.

Kilotov is on the right track with heroism as are you with the observation of Cavalry's defense value against spearmen. Obviously the terrain plays an important role in this too, I just don't believe the numbers above to correct.

So Judy, do you think these lies will stand up to scrutiny? Chimps has not lost a single troop to these vagabonds. We have not even sent any attacks yet, not one siege, not one diplo, not one troop. When we attack we do all the right things for it was I alone whom vanquished Dark Blight, and it is I alone who will remove your cities from Illy. There are no "other" attackers. This is a poor attempt at propaganda from StRude. Whence we commence aggressive negotiations upon the ICON we will stomp them with our jack boots and there will be no question as to whom is in charge, for I command 16 accounts and 6 alliances to do my bidding. My will is iron and I'll not be thwarted.

I rather like this. Satire at it's best. Humorous but disturbingly accurate.

Atleast Mons. Jude sticks by his words and insults, and goes down fighting. Who was it that abandoned his account like a wimp now, I wonder?

poor understanding of combat and utter disbelieve of common sense is way more popular as you may think.
even really big, experienced players keep on doing most crazy stuff...
like defending in woods whit archers, attacking camps of spears in woods whit cavalry...
this is most probably due to the common practice to just build T2 of your racial elite.
which is stupid.
