Updates (03APR):
Map Persistance
The World Map now remembers what you were looking at last, and your zoom level.

When you click on the World Map icon it will return to the last thing you were looking at, which makes it much easier for repeat military orders etc.

To reset the World Map to your current town view, simply click on the text that reads "Reset Map To Your Town" on the World Map page, and you'll be taken right back there!

Players are also reminded that the Compass on the world map is also clickable, and allows you to move across the map in entire pages.

Clicking on the center of the compass will reset your view to your currently selected town.

We know you've been asking for this for a couple of weeks, and we hope you like it!

Abandoned Accounts
For a variety of reasons some players will find that Illyriad isn't their cup of tea.

Towns that have zero population and haven't been logged into for 3 weeks are now subject to removal from the game, and a new location for a new player nearby will be automatically seeded onto the map.

Updates (02APR):
April Fool
We think most of you got it, but if not - the deadly-peril-stalks-illyriad_topic243.html - Killer Rabbits of Caerbannog that menaced your towns yesterday were our little April Fool jest.
Changes to the UI
Part 2 of the ongoing UI upgrades went live today.

Users at 1024x768 should now have a vastly improved game experience. The menu on the left-hand side of your screen has been replaced with a link just underneath the Illyriad logo, labelled "Options".

Users at higher resolutions will notice little change except the "Options" menu appears on their screen as well. Whilst it currently mirrors the buttons on the left hand side of the navigation it will expand over time to include further options such as "Change Password".

We hope you find these changes useful.

This should be interesting.  I foresee many newly-abandoned accounts as newcomers decide they'd rather have space from the developed powers; alliances try to insert moles into their competitors' ranks; and recruited mates try to start near friendly territory.

I also foresee unfortunate grievances based on players accidentally farming active cities.  Is new player protection still only 3 days?  This may be a little inadequate, particularly in old territory.

The chance of being assigned a place in one of the recently vacated spots in the centre of the map is low (1 in 10, rising to approx 1 in 5 as the map frees up, before becoming very minimal as the server refills).  We're only clearing an "abandoned account" spot every second player that signs up so that "overall" player numbers continue to rise.

Hopefully not. New players will *not* start in the same location as recently cleared out cities - they get a randomly chosen plains location within approx 5 squares of the vacated city.

4 days, currently.

Best wishes,
