I'm not entirely sure, or rather , I am sure but I'd like to hear the opinions of others.  It seems that over the last few days there's been a lot of talk of war going on in the GC.  I don't talk much in the chat, I prefer to simply sit around and watch the conversations go by and drop my input whenever I feel the need to make my opinion known.

ICON's declaration of war against 45(?) different alliances leads me to believe that Illy is about to enter a state of world-wide war.  How do you think this is going to affect the overall gameplay for the new players?  How about the smaller cities? How will those be affected in the time to come?

Let's hear what people have to say.  This should indeed be interesting.

ICON's declarations were made more to seek attention.  I highly doubt that they are planning to attack anyone -- more likely they were hoping to provoke attacks.  The real war is being fought between the Six Friends and Valar with participation by Valar confeds.

So far I have not heard of any players not aligned with those specific alliances being affected in any way, other than possibly by higher prices for some goods.  I commend the participants for their efforts to avoid collateral damage and hope this continues.

I don't expect new players will be involved in this war and I DO anticipate continued vigilance on the part of vets against attacks on new players.  Vets of all alliances are committed to allowing new players to grow, so far as I've heard.

Icon's antics.

Using the term lovingly used by Dakota Strider, this has been sent around by a "sympathetic player":

(Notice how the term First World War is used here)

Disclaimer: I am just an information broker, and am unaffiliated with VALAR, H?, or any alliance currently or potentially involved in this conflict. I do not claim that this message has not been falsified, as I have received it as a "forwarded" message. I do however, have proof in the terms of the original message sent to me by said sympathizer.

Seriously, that is a thing of beauty right there.

If this is being a troll, then I don't wanna be......an elf.

it has similarities with WW1. There are two coalitions, many that couldn't wait to make war and that beared grudges, so that a small, tiny, ridiculous light started a big fire. I'd be surprised if less than 80% of players currently in a state of war could give a reason why other than "the other side is EVIL".

Leungarific, posting private messages is a bad habit. Moreso when they are forwarded private messages.

Uno, this is a tactic that certain members of Valar LOVE. For example, Squill and Azreil's "sympathetic supporters in other alliances (AKA spies)".

I fail to see why I should be withholding information which is relevant, then. Especially when revealing such information and its content will help certain alliances to be more careful as to where they place their bets/support.
