Hi everyone,

Due to what can only be described as a monumental mathematical mistake, we're changing the way many of the new T2 "multiple buildings" calculate their improvement (or upkeep reduction) numbers.

Instead of:
  • Building 1 = Full Bonus (eg +20%)
  • Building 2 = Full Bonus divided by 2 (eg +10%)
  • Building 3 = Full Bonus divided by 3 (eg +6.66%
  • Building 4 = Full Bonus divided by 4 (eg +5%)
  • etc

We're moving the system over to consistent halving with each new building.
  • Building 1 = Full Bonus (eg +20%)
  • Building 2 = Full Bonus divided by 2 (eg + 10%)
  • Building 3 = Full Bonus divided by 4 (eg + 5%)
  • Building 4 = Full Bonus divided by 8 (eg + 2.5%)
  • etc
This change has gone into immediate effect for the Arctic Warfare College, Jungle Warfare College and Desert Warfare College, and will shortly be rolled out to the upkeep reduction buildings as well.

Apologies for this sudden change.

Regards,

SC

I was wondering if my math was right on it originally... I was waiting for someone else to comment on it. Nearly a DOH! moment there SC. LOL

I think I might have an inclination about what the mistake might have been...

1.5% reduction in troop costs per level...

first builing reduction at level 20 = 30%
second " " " " " = 45%
third " " " " " = 55%
4th = 62.5%
etc.
etc.
etc.
15th = 99.54%
16th = 101.42% reduction in troop costs... means you are generating gold by owning troops...

good job SC/TD I love you guys Hug

And by the way... incase anyone is now wondering/unaware:

Max possible bonus (assuming infinite buildings) is just TWICE the bonus of a single level 20 building.

Personally I would prefer to see a reduction by 1/3 with each successive building:

1st building: 30%
2nd: 20%
3rd: 13.33%
4th: 8.889%
5th: 5.96%
etc.

Which gives max bonus -> less than 90%.

Insanity! Wink Unless you're honestly saying you want to see the possibility of 1 million unit armies in a single town...?!

I guess that is already possible... it just requires a little gold redistribution. ^^

Well, possibly; but we don't mind an "effort" factor playing a part in this - it's the "balanced town" scenario that's the scary one!

All resource plots and supporting buildings at level 20, you'd have nearly 12500 + 40% = ~17,000 production, at 25% tax. Even with close to 100% tax you'd still have slightly less than 9,000 resource per hour and no more buildings to build. At your size and mine, we can only dream about all that! Tongue

my size of mine?
my size of mine is just fine, thank you.
and i know how much the max production is.
my question remains.
if i make ...say 10 infantry gold reduction buildings at level 20, how the heck am i supposed to pay for that? ( whit rocks i mean)

10 would cost 27,000 basic resource per hour.

With appropriate sov bonuses and underlying resource plots this is obtainable.

LOL

That was supposed to fly over your head! Are you wearing High Heels today Kilo? Tongue

umm Archer's Field takes 135 wood per level. That makes 2700 at level 20. If you have an elven capital with 7 wood plots, the basic production from 7 buildings, 7 x 2500 x +40% = 24,500. You can build 9 of those and a tenth one at level 1! But ten of those buildings would be absolutely nutty with the diminishing returns.

All building have been changed to use the 1 + 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 multiple building progression.

In light of this change we have also doubled the effects of the Foreign Office to be 10 squares per level

GM TC means, of course, +10% per level, not 10 squares.

It's as the http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/patchnotes-25sep11_topic2463.html" rel="nofollow - SEP25 Patchnote here .
