To help players decide on which alliances best fit their game goals, and since the Find Alliance summaries sometimes don't contain the information newbies are most concerned with, all LEADERS of alliances are welcome and encouraged to post the answers to the following questions in this thread. You do not have to completely answer all of the questions, but the more you answer, the better. Also, please be sure to edit your post to keep the information up-to-date or delete your post if the alliance becomes inactive.

Alliance Name: Invictus [VIC]

Recruitment Contact: Warrior Bunny, Jasche

Are you currently accepting new members? Yes.

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?
No restrictions. All honest, hard working players welcome!

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
Members provide each other with protection, resource help, answers to questions, advice, and a lot of fun chat. The alliance will also help resolve player disputes with players from other alliances and with players not in an alliance.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?
We stand for:
- team work
- standing up for the little guy
- peace and diplomacy unless pushed around

Policies:
1. All members should do whatever it takes to help others in the alliance grow.
2. Whenever possible, come to the aid of members in distress, either in defense or attack.
3. Help alliances that we are friendly with.
4. Always take into consideration suggestions made by members.
5. Reward outstanding service in Alliance.

What type of player are you looking for as members?
Players who intend to be on the game regularly and are interested in building up their cities, solving Mysteries, winning tournaments.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? If you can be kicked out of the alliance, what would cause that action to be taken against you?

Yes, players can leave the alliance. But as with every action, there are always ramifications. The alliance would want to enter into discussions with anyone who wanted to leave the alliance.

If a player is inactive for more than 30 days without first informing VIC leadership of their intent to come back, they may be removed to make room for new, active players in the alliance.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

1. Obey any requests by the leadership (though discussion is allowed).

2. Troops can not be used against other active players without the other player's permission (unless our alliance is at war with them). Members may freely attack the animal NPCs. Troops may currently be used against Faction encampments, though this may change once Factions are fully functional. Troops can be used against inactive players who have no alliance affiliation. It is important for any player doing this to ensure that the person they are attacking is inactive.

3. It is not permitted to attack an active player using combat or diplomacy units without prior notification with the alliance and its leadership.

4. Thieves, saboteurs, and assassins will not be used against other active players except in time of war or with the permission of the leadership. Diplomats can be used against inactive players who have no alliance affiliation. It is important for any player doing this to ensure that the person they are attacking is inactive.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
There are no taxes to be a member of VIC.

Alliance Name: Victrix [VICX]

We are the sister alliance of VIC.

Recruitment Contact: Mahaut (Recruitment Officer)

Are you currently accepting new members? Yes.

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?

No race, population, or location restrictions. All honest, hard working players are welcome.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
Members provide each other with protection, resource help, answers to questions, advice, and fun chat. The alliance will also help resolve player disputes with players from other alliances and with players not in an alliance.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?
We stand for:

Policies:

We are interested in players who intend to be on the game regularly and are interested in learning more about the game, building up their cities, solving Mysteries, and winning tournaments.

We especially appreciate mature players who like teamwork and who dislike vulgarity. To give you a better idea of what we're like, if your reaction to having your caravans bumped is "oh, well" to "I'll bump him back" (versus "how dare he! I'll teach him!") or to getting thieved is "hmm, a slight set-back, but it's just a game" (versus "I'm going to thief that bastard until he knows to never touch me again!"), then you're very welcome in VICX.

VICX is a peaceful alliance, and we try to solve any disputes through discussion rather than force. It's not so much that VICX is against aggressive action as that we're looking for players who want to use the "hostile" game aspects in ways that are fun for everyone involved (against inactive players, consenting players, or factions) rather than for the purpose of making others fear them or to get their own way.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? If you can be kicked out of the alliance, what would cause that action to be taken against you?

Players can leave the alliance, but we expect most players to remain with us in VICX or VIC. We have kicked players out that disobeyed our rules and refused to change the problem behavior. We also will remove players who have been inactive for more than 30 days without first informing VICX leadership of their intent to come back. They may be removed to make room for new, active players in the alliance.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

Our rules are similar to VIC's rules (see above). You can see a full list on  Victrix's public forum on the game, and the rules are sent to each player to agree to before they join.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
There are no taxes to be a member of VICX.

Are you currently accepting new members?: yes

Who can join: Anyone, except for mean or bullying type people

What are some benefits of joining your alliance: Nice safe/fun enviorment, Protection, Training and/or any questions or help is provided.

What does the alliance stand for? What are the Governing principles: We stand for Trading, prospering, and having a good time.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? if not what are the consequences of leaving? what would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?:

Usually we don't tolerate members leaving, if it is the case when moving cities is available we will generally want the players to move if they are near our alliance hub. the only time we would remove a player from the alliance if they have done continuous wrong doings to another player or the alliance

What rules govern the alliance: unless we are at war with someone we don't send troops or diplomats at any allied or unaligned player or unless the player is given an order to do so

If the alliance has a tax on its members what is the money used for? our small 1% tax is stored up in the alliances treasury for times of need or an extreme emergency

If anyone has any questions or comments send me an In-game mail

SMA - http://uk1.illyriad.co.uk/#/Communication/ComposeMail/39003" rel="nofollow - The Mariner , http://uk1.illyriad.co.uk/#/Communication/ComposeMail/39006" rel="nofollow - Danathan

Are you currently accepting new members?
FDU & ITG - Not actively, but we do have a small shortlist on a first-come, first-serve basis for FDU and ITG, due to both alliances being full/almost full.

SMA - Accepting all new members!

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?
Anyone and everyone, preferably those players who are new to Illyriad, and have two or less cities!

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
The FDU, ITG and SMA are alliances of mutual trade and defense. We welcome new players who want to start playing the game without being bullied by the more established players. We also offer aid and guidance on how to play the game. New players can feel free to use this alliance as a stepping stone to move to other alliances that may more closely match their playing style, once they are able to support themselves.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?
The Free Defense Union is the brainchild of Shrapnel, a dwarf of some renown amongst most of the older Illyriad Players. He created FDU to help new players learn the game. Now, FDU, ITG and SMA are continuing his legacy, helping new players understand Illyria better, and prosper in her lands.

Our goal in FDU and her sisters, as stated above, is to help new players gain knowledge and understanding about the game's mechanics, as well as the manner in which the community and environment functions. We support our players intellectually, as well as materially, and help them to fit into alliances that they may want to get into, further down the road.

What type of player are you looking for as members?
Players seeking to grow and learn about Illyriad are welcome amongst our ranks!

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving?
Players are not only free to leave our alliances, but also encouraged to, once they are of a suitable size or mindset. We certainly wouldn't want you to leave if you are still in the process of needing more resources than you can pay for, as we provide them to you free of charge. Once however, your need for urgent resources tapers off, we will be glad to help you shift to another alliance, as well as send you resources whenever you request them.

What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?
Our main concerns are inactivity, and the attacking of affiliated/unaffiliated players. We do not shelter aggressors, nor do we keep inactive players in our alliances. Players of any size who are inactive for a month, are removed from the alliances.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?
We certainly do not expect our members to spy upon, thieve from or attack another player, other than launch attacks at a town that has been proved as abandoned or inactive by a senior member of one of our alliances.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
We do not have a tax system, but do have occasional payouts, especially if one of our traders make a killing in the market (money-wise). This usually results in all of our members receiving a gold windfall, equal across the board.

We would strongly urge all of you to send us your new players! We are available to help them grow, then return them to you as more upstanding members of Illyriad.

Cheers,

Leungarific

Alliance Name(s):
Persona Armoniosa,Macto Armoniosa
Recruitment Contact:
PA=Lorre or any ambaxtoi
MA=Rainstorm,Bronwyn
Are you currently accepting new members?
It depends really MA is activly recruiting, PA however only recruits in special cases for example players that attract the attention of either me or one of the Ambaxtoi.

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?
anyone and from anywhere of any level

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
we protect, educate and supply our members as good as we can, we cant promise to make you the perfect player or anything.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?
to be perfectly honest? it just stands for standing there  not like being the shining light or anything.
the goals of MA are to be a selsuffecient alliance closely related to PA and sometimes if the members are willing to transfer to PA.
the goals of PA are to be there when needed and to act when the time is there to act.
the governing principles in both alliances are my word and that of the councill is law.the hierarchy is to be respected, in times of war aswell as peace. this does not apply to chats amongst eachother and probably only can be understood when actually being a member of either the alliances.

What type of player are you looking for as members?
friendly, loyal, ready to help, not following blindly but having a voice of there own.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving?
leaving is always free to every member, we do not force anyone to relocate to one of our hubs just incase they would want to leave.
the only thing that we ask is that you let us know a day or so beforehand that you are leaving.

What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?
unautorised use of military forces, magic, saboteurs and assasins against other players.
inactivety
causing unrest in the alliance.
repeatedly insulting other players.(example on global chat)

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?
well i guess its obvious now npcs can be attacked, factions that the approval has been given on can be attacked, players can be attacked in times of war.
thieves can only be sent out to inactives.
otherwise diplomats should stay at home.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
no taxation exists in the alliance donations to the alliance chest are voluntarely.

Are you currently accepting new members?

Aesir- Yes, prefer larger players (3 towns+)
Pathway to Aesir- Yes, Smaller/New players

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?

Anyone can join either alliance, but if you are a newer/ smaller player, we would prefer if you'd join PATH before you join Aesir.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?

We will protect our members as long as they act within reason, and help them grow larger so that they may help others as well. If you ever need any resource, I am willing to give it to you(as long as i can afford to give you the amount you desireWink), or sell it to you if you want to buy it.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?

Are goals are to keep all of our members alive and able to support themselves.

What type of player are you looking for as members?

Any type of player, we'll deal with you if you become a problemTongue

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving?

Any of our members can leave our alliance at any time, unless they want to quit and kill us off one by one, but if they are, how would we know?Cry.

What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?

You will be removed from the alliance for being inactive for 30 days or more unless you have contacted the leaders and told us of your absence. The other cases are if you cause us too much trouble and your only goal is to do just that.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

We have no rules, except don't kill active members(or get caught doing itLOL), have funParty, and be active, and of course cactus.
No one in our alliance is allowed to act hostile towards other active players, but it happens, and when it does we will diplomatically deal with it and if that fails, we have other things we can do to teach our members to be good.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?

Alliance Tax money is used to fund our alliance leaders so that they are able to support the newer players in time of need. And keep us leaders rich of course!Beer

CheersThumbs Up

Alliance Name: Affirmative Action (A.A.)

Recruitment Contact: McDew, Hand of the King

Are you currently accepting new members? No new members

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)? Affirmative Action has no restrictions against race, land, or riches.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?

Affirmative Action is not a signup for freebies.  We act as one. An attack against the smallest town is the same as an attack against the largest. We only run out of resources when all towns are out of resources. We all have our part to play in the alliance.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?

Affirmative Action was formed in the fallout of the Havoc/Knights Templar war. Our first goal is to right the wrongs performed during that war.

What type of player are you looking for as members? We do not recruit.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?

Players are free to leave, but none have chosen to do so.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

A.A. chooses it's targets, and attack. There is no reason a single ally would attack another player without the full might of Affirmative Action behind them. If a player has an opponent in mind, they only need to bring the subject up with the Hand of the King, or the King Himself.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for? That is for the master of coin to decide.

Alliance Name:
Harmless

Recruitment Contact:
Llyorn of Jaensch

Are you currently accepting new members?
Limited, but yes.

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?
Must have 3 cities, be regularly active, and a vocal participant in alliance affairs.  Applicants will be evaluated based on their apparent maturity and character, as well as any trustworthy record of past conduct.  Secondary accounts are not accepted unless accompanied by the primary.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
Hands-on military training, firm protection against unprovoked hostilities, reasonable freedom to personally pursue honorable agendas

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?
Harmless stands for maturity, decency, and excellence in combat and conduct.  We believe in diplomacy before action, but do not take action timidly or promise to escalate conflicts "slowly."

What type of player are you looking for as members?
Respectful but opinionated, mature (generally but not necessarily older) players who will show dedication, character, and talent for team play and coordination in combat.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?
Players may leave freely at will, either permanently or temporarily.  Leaving itself bears no consequence.  Players may be removed or refused re-entry for inactivity, repeated violation of our code of (in-game) conduct, leaking intelligence deemed sensitive to non-Confederated parties, or similar strong offenses against our sense of character.  Players who temporarily leave are not required to follow alliance rules while away, but may be refused re-entry if their conduct outside the alliance was considered grossly improper according to our normal guidelines for accepting new recruits.

Players are initially accepted as Initiates, who will receive ongoing training and guidance until deemed ready for full membership.  Initiates have limited access and responsibilities (are not entrusted with sensitive alliance affairs, and are last to join conflicts).  Initiates who, for prolonged periods, fail to meet our standards of military capability and coordination skill or to demonstrate primary focus on active, vocal participation in Harmless may be discreetly encouraged to find a new home, or be eventually removed from the alliance.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?
The attacking of NAPs and Confeds is prohibited of course, but all other matters are dictated by principles and our code of conduct rather than hard rules.  Procedures are in place for optionally seeking approval for operations prior to conducting them, which in turn protect members from being ordered to pay restitution or make other penance for actions performed prior to receiving desist orders.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
Alliance taxes are used to aid in the funding of any alliance-wide operations (full-scale war).

Alliance Name: The Colony

Recruitment Contact: Kale Weathers

Are you currently accepting new members? Yes, please!

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)? There are no restrictions on established members (those who have already moved/have multiple cities. We would prefer that new members be willing to teleport into our area. But hey, it's all negotiable.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)? Candy corn. Loads of it. Also, of course, protection, a good training program, absurdly happy people, and candy corn. The candy corn is a lie.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles? The Colony stands for pride in the alliance, working together to achieve tasks, and generic feel-good principles that alcohol prohibits me from typing out... Oh, and we really value communication. Especially with semaphore flags.

What type of player are you looking for as members? We prefer the living. Also members who are able to help one another, either with resources, or training. Members who take the game only slightly less seriously than I do would be quite nice. No lemurs.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance? Players may leave if they wish, but should at least have the courtesy of sending me an email. Sometimes, issues can be resolved through communication. Removal due to thirty days of inactivity is par for the course. I, personally, would remove with prejudice any dishonest players. Trust is a big thing.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)? Players may attack NPCs, those we are at war with (following established strategies), and inactives WITH prior notification.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for? New oriental rugs, cookies, and marketable slogans. Also, the money we collect is used for emergencies. Actually, that is all we use it for. Possibly escrow.

Are you currently accepting new members? Yes, all are welcome :D

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)? None at all......As said before all are welcome :)

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)? You will get protection like everyone else and Myself and the leadership of MOT will give you training so you are good to go.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles? Muppets On Tour is a training alliance. We try and take the weak and train them to strong heros of the day.

What type of player are you looking for as members? Well anyone....But it is good  to talk in Alliance Chat.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance? Well I dont see any point in yelling at some one who has left your alliance.....It is called moving on. And we all do that at some point.Anyone may leave at any point in time.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)? I would like it if you told me of a player that you wish to attack.......And we have the rules on attacking an inactive player in our alliance forums

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for? Right now the alliance tax is at 0% but if it was ever to move the money would be used for the alliances wishes.

We cant wait to meet you all Hug

Alliance name: The D'Haran Empire

Recruitment contact: Killrobin, Gratch, Ezri, Klandor, The Lioness

What are some of the benefits of joining your alliance: Protection, resources, general help.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles? The idea behind DE is to enjoy the game in good company. Our ranks are done by a "choose your own" system and each member is treated equally.  So sit back, talk a while, and enjoy!

What type of player are you looking for as members? Anyone in reality, but so long as they can respect other members and other players too.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance? PLayers can freely leave, we only ask for a message saying that the player wished to leave. But I guess that's common courtesy. As for what would make a leader remove them, extended inactivity or being offensive/ going against alliance goals.

What rules govern the alliance? For example diplomats and troops; Who can they be used against in a hostile manner?  The basic "Do not attack active players" rule stands in DE.Inactive targets are fine to target. We are peaceful and wish to keep it as such. If you are attacked, it is not right to then retaliate immediately, but I would like that it is made aware by the alliance and we try to resolve the matter together.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for? The tax is at 2% and the money gained from this is for the alliance as a whole to use. If someone bought resources from the market, they can ask for the gold they used to come from the alliance. The tax money has been used several times to buy up bulks of basic res to ship out to new members.

Alliance Name:

Dwarven in-Law

Recruitment Contact:

Pametheah or one of our leadership

Are you currently accepting new members?

Yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?

We are an open Alliance, so regardless of your race we are happy to have you. We do though recommend new members move to one of our Alliance hubs in either Turalia or Wolgast for support.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?

We are looking for long term members to become part of our extended community, which includes training, caste specialization, protection from aggressors, resources when needed and a place to get to know people and connect with other players.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?

We are a new guild birthed from our sister alliance the Dwarven Lords. We seek to live in peace with those around us, but will stand to the bitter end to defend our allies and friends when necessary. We have 3 main castes in our Alliance (warrior, priest and trade) and seek to build up members to be productive in their chosen caste so that they can build up the alliance.

What type of player are you looking for as members?

We are looking for players who want to be here for the long haul, players who are mature and wanting to be part of a community. We seek to help one another out in whatever ways we can and expect those who join us to do the same.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?

Members are free to leave as they see fit. We will expel members for un-approved hostile actions towards other players, disrespect towards alliance leadership or members, continued absence or representing the alliance in ways not in line with the stance of our leadership or founding principles.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?

No taxation at this time. If this changes the tax will be used to hep build stockpiles of goods for times of war or need by the alliance.

The_Dude - via in-game mail

Are you currently accepting new members?

Yes.

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?

Most, preferably all, cities located in Middle Kingdom and/or Tor Carrock.  All races and populations accepted.  Established and New players are welcome.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?

No offense, but this is sorta a silly question to my way of thinking.  Yes, RES provides all the same benefits as any alliance does.  Healthcare, Retirement Plans, 2 weeks vacation after 1 yr, casual Fridays.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?

My goal is to establish a strong alliance concentrated in Middle Kingdom and Tor Carrock.  I anticipate RES will be a strategically important alliance when factions and trade v2 go live.  Additionally, I am piecing together a coalition of alliances concentrated in other regions for the purpose of establishing the Illy version of a commonwealth or Eurozone sort of thing.  Again, this is to deal with factions and tradve v2.

I described RES as a generally non-aggressive alliance.  However, RES will support its allies when called on to do so.  Additionally, RES will protect newbs and squish trolls.

What type of player are you looking for as members?

First, players interested in the things I have described above.  Secondly, at least a moderate level of activity... RES is not a place to stick an account that will only be looked at once a week.  Thirdly, I insist that all members behave on GC and the forum and endeavor to respect others.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?

Players are free to exit RES at will with no adverse consequences for merely exiting.  Players will be kicked for inactivity, rudeness, or trouble-making.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

All attacks of any nature on Active players MUST be pre-approved by me.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?

Yes, a 2% tax rate is assessed.  The alliance treasury is used for alliance goals.

The Phoenix [FENIX]

Tallica or Garuda (in game mail only please)

Are you currently accepting new members?

Yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?

We accept any members who have a population of 400 or greater and who can relocate to Qarosslan. We accept all races.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?

We have similar benefits to all other alliances...I know this doesn't sound special, but our plans/goals are a bit different from the other alliances...

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?

We stand for peace and prosperity. Our current goals are mutual growth and protection as we further develop our alliance.

What type of player are you looking for as members?

We want only fairly active members, if you are able to log in daily (if only to queue up some buildings) then we want you. We are also seeking members able to fulfill leadership roles and military training.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?

Of course any member can freely leave, we will hold no hard feelings against any players who choose to leave FENIX. However, anything gained from us we ask to keep to yourself.

FENIX will choose to remove players from our alliance if they are inactive (7 days unexcused) or if they are found "bullying" or have poor forum and chatroom etiquette. We are a proud and mature alliance and wish to be reflected as such.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

We do not allow hostile actions against active players, only defensive actions. However we do target inactive accounts that have been properly watched. Any member found to be hostile (aka "bullying") will be promptly removed from FENIX.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?

FENIX has no alliance tax at this time or in the foreseeable future.

Are you currently accepting new members?

Yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?

We are keen to take in intelligent, thoughtful players of any size and in any location. We welcome small players (under 100 population) as we understand that the early stages of growth in Illyriad can be slow and we are happy to supply resources to new players.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?

Specific benefits are:
  • Daily resource shipments to small players (under 400 population)
  • How-to guides on the Alliance Forum
And the chance to explore peaceful (trade and diplomatic) growth with like-minded people.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?

We focus on diplomatic units and trade. We have no interest in war. In a world where most alliances seek military glory, we choose a less well traveled path. We value subtle thought, profit, and information.

What type of player are you looking for as members?

We seek players who are
  • Active (log on frequently, and keep growing)
  • Intelligent

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?

Of course players can leave Conclave whenever they wish.

In fact, if a member announced 'I have learned a lot here about using diplomats with Conclave, and now Big Alliance X has invited me to join them as Spymaster/Trademaster' we'd be honoured. This is a place for people to develop peaceful, diplomatic abilities and insights. If they later want to take those insights elsewhere that is for the good of the game.

Inactive players will be removed. People who ignore the alliance's rules or bring Conclave into disrepute will be removed.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

The rules are on the Alliance page, and detail common sense precautions like not thieving from active players. We are here to enjoy the subtle, peaceful side of the game. Rules obviously apply against provoking less peaceful players. The rules are there to ensure that one player's actions do not bring the wrath of outsiders upon other alliance members.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?

Conclave has a 0% tax rate. The only case in which this would change is if we needed to raise funds to defend ourselves from external threats. As we have no intention of provoking external threats, we expect the tax rate to remain at 0%.

Recruitment Contact:

Kurdruk http://uk1.illyriad.co.uk/#/Player/Profile/28676" rel="nofollow - (link)

Are you currently accepting new members?

Yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?

The Lords of Frost are focused on the area around 0/800 (look for the large lake in the north of Wolgast). Members should have their main cities (most or all of their cities) in this area. The alliance would suit those who are committed to staying in the game, but who are not yet so established that moving towards 0/800 will be a problem. We are happy to take very small players, whom we can send resources in order to help them grow swiftly.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?

The alliance is focused on mutual defense, so we are interested in players who enjoy the military side of the game, and want to be involved with an organised, active alliance. In return, they should enjoy the protection of a well-organised, geographically tight alliance.

We organize regular mini-tournaments/challenges/wargames, so there is never a dull week. http://illyolympics.wordpress.com/frost/" rel="nofollow - (link)

There is no formal training as such, though we encourage players to become familiar with the game, via sources such as the http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/tips-for-new-players_topic1894.html" rel="nofollow - Illyriad Forum  and the http://wisdomofkurdruk.wordpress.com/" rel="nofollow - Wisdom of Kurdruk blog, so while we're happy to provide considerable support to new members we are not explicitly a "training alliance".

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?

Illyriad is a wonderful sandbox, where people can grow, trade, and explore. There are lots of styles of play, and no one style (e.g. the wargame-style) has the right to impose itself over other styles. But there is a very strong military element, and those who wish to grow, trade and prosper should know how to defend themselves. That's what the Lords of Frost are about: very close, local cooperation in our frozen homelands.

What type of player are you looking for as members?

Players who enjoy cooperation, who are interested in the military aspects of the game, who will be active and regular players, and who will treat other inhabitants of the world with respect.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?

Since the alliance is based on local cooperation, a player who wanted to leave would be expected, eventually, to Exodus out of the area. That is especially true of those located at the centre of our area. But we aren't going to be aggressive about this, and do not expect to harass those who wish to leave. The central value of respect for other players and their playing styles means that we are not going to start getting aggressive with people.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

Troops and aggressive diplomats (assassins, sabs, thieves) should never be used against active players, except (a) in time of war, (b) to assist members or our Confederates if they are under attack, or (c) as permitted by the rules of a mini-tourney or tournament.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?

At present there is no tax. It is possible that we might impose a 1% tax in order to fund prizes for the mini-tourneys.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)? We have a lively, vibrant group of players on our Alliance chat and there is usually someone there who can answer your questions. Although we are a peaceful alliance, the opportunity to learn attack and defense strategies will be available. There is also a strong trade leader to help our traders learn.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?  We prefer peace, but we are willing to fight for it when needed. To learn more about the alliance please visit our public forum at http://uk1.illyriad.co.uk/#/Alliance/Forums/407

What type of player are you looking for as members?  We are seeking mature players and prefer players who are committed to daily log-ins regardless of size. We welcome experienced players and those interested in leadership positions.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?  Illyriad is a game. Players who wish to leave the alliance are free to do so, though the courtesy of a message is appreciated. Once a player leaves the alliance we would appreciate it if they would exodus near their new alliance, however we will not enforce this request with military action.

What rules govern the alliance? We founded this alliance to have a structure that allowes all players to participate in the decisions of the alliance. We need players that like communicating, playing in a team and that (eventually) like to be elected in leading positions.

Alliance Name:

The Old Republic.

Recruitment Contact:

Any member of the Executive Council (Consuls, Praetors) or any Senator. (see http://uk1.illyriad.co.uk/#/Alliance/Alliance/516" rel="nofollow - alliance profile )

Are you currently accepting new members?

Yes! Large members, small members, all are welcome!!! You may decide to apply for full membership to become a Senator. However you have some time to observe the rules of the republic and decide later if you really want to join. Large and active members have good perspectives to be elected in leading positions or the Senate (however, there will be an election!).

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?

Everyone with more then 2K pop. If you are smaller join our training alliance:

http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/join-tor-university-training-alliance_topic3571.html

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?

You surely will be protected, get resources (if you are small) and training! You can learn a lot about Illy in our alliance since you are informed on and can participate in all important decisions. We are a democratically organised alliance. All members are sovereign, have the same rights and can participate in important decisions (via polls on our external forum). TOR is a collectively ruled alliance and we wait for your incentives.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?

The principles of the Elgean Republic and all actions based on our constitution shall be mutual defence, democracy, solidarity and the sovereignty of its Members.

What type of player are you looking for as members?

All members that like to participate in or Republic!

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?

You can only be removed, if 2/3 of all members vote on a proposal to kick you out. Everyone can leave whenever she/he desires. If you have settled in our main hub area you have to remove your cities.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

Our members are free and sovereign! You may do whatever you desire, but must accept the consequences of your action, since we are a defensive alliance. Precise rules are at the http://uk1.illyriad.co.uk/#/Alliance/Alliance/516" rel="nofollow - alliance profile .

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?

The alliance tax can only be changed by the Senate. The Senate also decides what happens with that money!

Are you currently accepting new members?

Oh H*ll Yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?

There are currently no restrictions on the type of player we are looking to join us in the Eyrie.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
The Eagles can offer the benefits of being led by one of Illy's highest respected players, a huge pool of resources, a range of players with varied experiences within the Illy world to advise and train newer players, as well as an AC that never stops scrolling.

What does the alliance stand for? What are its goals and governing principles?

The governing principles of the Eyrie are to have fun, to be respectful to all players and to pay it forward.

What type of player are you looking for as members?

Mature, chatty, willing to learn, respectful

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?

We believe that once they are in, no-one will want to leave. Wink However, if members do decide that the Eyrie is not for them, we will never hold anyone back from experiencing Illyriad on their own.
Membership will be withdrawn by the leaders if a member abuses any player in Illy, either via AC/GC or PM. If a member acts in a way that is in opposition to our internal guidelines, or if he has broken the Illy rules of multi accounting.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?

As a fledgling alliance, our rules are still a work in progress. We are ultimately a peace-keeping alliance and we have a few guidelines that we expect our members to follow, including as mentioned, respect and a commitment to Integrity.. we also demand a song in the AC as way of an initiation rite! Handshake

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?

Currently, the eagles do not tax it's members.. although sometimes Turgor's jokes can be a little taxing! Clown

So, if any of the above tickles your fancy.. come look up the Eagles!!

Are you currently accepting new members?   YES

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)? All races are welcome.  Members are not required to have cities at a specific location.  We have no minimum population requirement.  We welcome all who share our goal to help, defend, have fun, and grow.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)? By joining  TdéD , players will be gaining friends, protection from fellow alliance members and our allies throughout the world, aid with basic and advanced resources, alliance quest and competition rewards and....well....my magnificent company. :P

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles? We stand for camaraderie.  While the alliance may have been founded by one, it shall be governed by all.  By that I mean I have created  TdéD but I did not do so to seek power over others.  I aim for this alliance to be ran by all.  We are ONE.  ONE force, ONE body, ONE alliance.

What type of player are you looking for as members?  TdéD  is seeking players who are active and intend to remain so.  Players who don't seek aggression but are willing to defend their friends and allies if need be. Players looking to be a part of creating something rather than being part of something created.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?  We seek loyalty but also understand that goals change, life happens, horizons broaden.  There are no consequences for leaving.  Players may be removed if they have become inactive for 30 days.  Exceptions may apply if RL gets in the way and word has been given to Uaithne or other designated members.  Players who break the rules, either the current alliance rules or Illyriad game rules will be removed.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?  No member may use diplomats or military troops against ANY active player except in times of war. Diplomats and military troops may be sent against inactive players ONLY after written notice has been given to other designated members and ONLY after all assurances have been made that target player is indeed inactive.  Members are free to attack NPCs and factions, at their own risk of course, as they choose.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?  NO tax is required.  Donations are accepted and funds will be used in the unlikely event that we are at war and for alliance competition rewards.

Thanks for looking Smile

Alliance Name:  Order of the Valar [VALAR]

Recruitment Contact:
Taelin or a council member

Are you currently accepting new members?
Yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?
Anyone with the right approach. Our main hub is in the confluence of Arran, Perrigor and Tor Carrock but we have players distributed throughout much of the map. There is no requirement that you are near existing members but you may think that it would be sensible to have at least some of your cities close. We also offer an Esquire (Internship) option - see separate post - for new players – there is no location requirement for new players.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
We offer mutual self defence, advice and assistance with resources.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?
We are interestedin all aspects of the game, including but not limited to the military, we are an alliance with a long history in Illyriad, join us and you may become part of the grand events which shape politics here. VALAR is a broad church with members who have varying play-styles, that variety is however within the bounds of what is reasonable. We are led by an elected King and Council, the members are consulted about important decisions.

What type of player are you looking for as members?
We are looking for active players who are mature in outlook, who can listen, ask questions and exhibit at least a degree of common sense.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?
Members are free to go without let or hindrance. Obviously if we have been feeding you up with res for ages and then you just saunter off, we won't be over the moon but we will not hunt you down because of it. Behaving unreasonably internally or acting in way which brings the alliance into disrepute might get you removed, it would depend on the situation.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only in-actives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?
No military action without permission except in immediate self defence, no burglary etc. of other alliances or newbies. The 10 square convention is a good starting point for considering where other people's writ runs – but it is not the last word on the matter – although we do not seek to challenge the position of certain well known alliances vis-a-vis 10 squares.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
We do not presently, nor do we envisage in future, taxing our members.

Are you currently accepting new members?  Yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?  Anyone is welcome to join. However maturity and respect to others is expected. We prefer that our members be located in Keshalia or Eastern Perrigor but it is not a requirement. We can accept new players to Illy but also need experienced players to help us grow.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?  We offer mutual defense to our members. And offer training to new players.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles? We are a brand new alliance that is initially concentrating on trade. However as we grow our goals will change. We will always be peaceful and respectful to others in Illy. But we will protect our members at all cost.

What type of player are you looking for as members? We are a new alliance with many positions to fill. We will accept a player of any size as long as they are mature and active.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?  Players may come and go as they see fit. We expect our players to be active and to follow our code of conduct. Violations may result in removal.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?  No military or diplomatic attacks on active players are allowed without the permission of the council.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?  1%

Alliance Name:
http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/Alliance/Alliance/509" rel="nofollow - Fairy Road Authority [Roads]

Recruitment Contact:
Most of our members are able to send an invite.

Are you currently accepting new members?
On the road ahead there is room for new Road workers, yes. ;-)

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?
Roads is open to all races, and considering our goals, we don't exactly clutter together, but spread out. We have an affinity for settling near Faction hubs and other special map locations, as they may become important travel locations. This is not really restricting on recruitment, though.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
Off course our members can count on our protection from unprovoked aggression. Also we can help our smaller members to get going, but their focus should be independence on the point of resources.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?
Roads is perhaps the most unconventional alliance of Illyriad. We are preparing for the introduction of roads by claiming strips of sovereignty, and using this to connect faction hubs and other special locations on the map. Eventually our road network will enable players to get from A to B quicker. As roads are yet to be implemented, our approach of claiming sovereignty for potential roads is a bit of a guess. Other players may tell you claiming sovereignty the way we do isn't optimal. If your goal is to maximise your army, they're absolutely right, but playing http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/World/Map/104/80/10" rel="nofollow - unconventional can be fun .

What type of player are you looking for as members?
As you can conclude from what you've read above, we're looking for unconventional players, who like to work together with the alliance in realising a project.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?
Off course players are free to leave, but we do appreciate it if they notify the leadership of the reason of the departure.
Reasons to get removed from the alliance can be:
-Unprovoked aggression to an active player
-Otherwise rude behaviour in AC or otherwise
-Inactivity

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?
Roads is a peaceful alliance, and no unprovoked aggression to any active player is tolerated.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
There is no tax at this moment.

For more information you can also contact Our leader ( http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/Player/Profile/47969" rel="nofollow - Odd ) and me ( http://elgea.illyriad.co.uk/#/Player/Profile/136959" rel="nofollow - Progressor ).

as VALAR has reminded me of this venerable thread, i thought i might give it a go.

Alliance Name:  Eight Hand Crow [eCrow]

Recruitment Contact:  Sa'Belle or any eCrow

Are you currently accepting new members?  yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?  all races and populations welcome.  our target geography is south Laoshin, Keshalia, Kul-Tar and Elijal.  players should be in these areas or plan to develop a presence in them.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?  protection, training, all that.  but also egality, cameraderie, a certain tolerance for experimentation and eccentricity, and the sense of being a part of something larger than the alliance.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?  eCrow values consensus within and peace without.  like most crows, we mistrust hierarchy and are averse to most trappings of traditional organisation.  the alliance is the allies, no more or less.

What type of player are you looking for as members?  although helpful advice is plentiful, no one in eCrow will give a new recruit a checklist of buidings to be built, or berate them for settling on a 5-food square.  likewise, new recruits should not expect to do these things to others.  the best candidates are the ones with ambitions of their own that don't involve exercising power over their allies.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?  friends who leave are friends elsewhere.  in over a year, no one has been kicked for anything but inactivity.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?  we value peace, but allow individual allies much freedom to pursue their interests.  in an alliance without rules, responsibility is expected.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?  we have experimented with a tax, but because we could not answer the question we ended it after 30 days.

Alliance Name: The Dark Empire [Dark].

We are recruiting. Contact Sexy Lynn or Halcyon.

We accept all races and sizes. New members are required to have their cities in Dark's area in the west from north Kumala through The Western Realms, Fremorn and The Wastes. Parts of Lan Larosh are also acceptable.
We specialize in helping new members move to Dark's area with all that is required, including resources, prestige and advice. The move may be lengthy, but it is worth it both for protection and the ability to participate in alliance activities such as tournaments.

The Dark Empire is first and last a team. We have an excellent group of mature, fun people who work together and help each other to grow stronger and achieve our goals. When The Dark Empire marches, either in tournament or war, it marches as one. A Dark held tournament square or siege encampment is very rarely lost, because we are based together, we arrive together, we arrive in force and we arrive to stay.

Why should you join The Dark Empire?
Because we are one of the best alliances in Illyriad with some of the best people on Earth.

Our rules do not allow any attack, military or diplomatic, on any active player that we are not at war with. Attacking npcs is allowed.

A low alliance tax is in effect to be used in times of need.

All members are allowed to leave The Dark Empire if they choose to do so. If a city is placed in a strategic location which was chosen for the player by the alliance, he or she may be asked to Exodus and helped to do so. In Dark's history, very few members have been asked to leave or kicked out due to misconduct towards the alliance, our neighbors, or failing to meet our rules.

For the glory of The Dark Empire!

Alliance Name:  Celtic Knights (xCKx)

Recruitment Contact:  Ajeka, Spel, Lelmarchoth, Lachit and Prares

Are you currently accepting new members?  yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?  Anyone and everyone. We are concentrated in Norweld and growing in Windlost so would be great for new members currently elsewhere to think of moving to those regions so we can provide support.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?  Experienced members are always prepared to answer any questions and provide defensive support, packages always sent as soon as requested to increase growth as required. Members can play their own game as they wish without having someone telling them what to do (apart from giving total support always to their ally mates and confeds)

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?  We stand for a code of chivalry whereby we give protection to all our members as they grow, respect for any ideas that are put forward by  members as our Round Table determines our responses to circumstances as they arise and with a goal of fostering a brother and sisterhood of Knights. Our aim is to maximise our influence in the regions and hubs where we play, but we're not interested in being aggressive towards other players already there.  CK members are free to do their own thing and that sometimes can lead to problems with other alliances, but we'll always be happy to find diplomatic solutions to those. Equally we're ready to go if it comes to a military solution.

What type of player are you looking for as members?  All types of players are needed by every alliance. We're interested in growing a community of diverse interests that want to band together under the CK banner. Of course those players with a previous known notoriety will be screened but we're not  pejorative about anyone. Their new game history starts when they join CK.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? That's only ever happened once a long time ago and they're still respected neighbours and friends. The preferred course for the future would be an orderly exodus to fresh pastures but would very much be a case by case basis depending on the negotiations.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?  Members are expected to act responsibly and not cause the alliance unnecessary problems by their actions. No permission needs be asked for a member to play as they see fit, Round Table justice will be dispensed fairly if that freedom to act has been abused. We have no precedent for irresponsible acts to date.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?  CK imposes no alliance tax. Deposits into the alliance bank have interest accrued on the balance. The bank will be used for finance if an emergency situation requires it in the future.

Alliance Name:
TRIVIUM [TVM]

Recruitment Contact:
Any member can get you in contact with the right person.

Are you currently accepting new members?
We would consider an application under the right circumstances.

Be warned: In the past, TVM has been a target of what players who came long before dubbed the Game Cops as well as various other vulturous alliances and players. It is unlikely that this sort of attention will cease any time soon.

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?
Application for membership in TRIVIUM is open to anyone with a need to stir the pot. Problem solving skills will be put to use. Combat will come. Those who become and remain a part of the TVM family rarely want for excitement. Anyone who wishes to experience life on the edge in Elgea, as part of a family of like minded individuals is welcome to apply for membership.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
Our greatest benefit is to become a member of the nearest thing to a family one can find in a game, where there is little likelihood to ever meet each other face to face. Other than the camaraderie of such ties, there are the usual benefits. Resource aid. Training. Whatever else an alliance does, we do too. There have been a lot of alliances that tried their worst to destroy us, yet we remain. I suppose that can be seen as both a detriment and a benefit.

What does the alliance stand for?
TVM is a group of players who have, until left with no other choice refused to bow to the demands of alliances and players who feel superior and believe they know what is best for those around them. War in Illyriad is not something players should be afraid of or ashamed of. Often, players get bored by the never ending clicking and the building for, what to some can feel like nothing. TRIVIUM is a haven for exceptional players who want to have a reason to continue playing.

What are it's goals and governing principles?
The number one goal of TRIVIUM is the survival of the family group so the fight may continue. We are determined to spit in the face of the oppressors, stand in the fires that rage around us and raise our swords and spears together to charge into the breach over and over until the end of Elgean time (or at least until boredom sets in).

What type of player are you looking for as members?
Any combat oriented players willing to sacrifice all they have for their fellows.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving?
We are a family. Family does not always get along. No one is forced to remain. Occasionally a player crosses a line and burns the bridges that lead back home. Such extreme circumstance is one possible and unfortunate outcome of free will.

What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?
A blatant violation of the Illyriad rules, which would bring harm to the family. Unwarranted and unrepentant aggression against family. Unwarranted and unsanctioned aggression against non family members without adhering to any penalty imposed.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?
While family members are allowed to do with their own assets as they please, they are encouraged to practice common sense with regard to diplomats and troops. Expending units against unsanctioned targets is not only discouraged but may lead to the reckless endangerment of other family members. Leadership will always reserve the right to take whatever action is necessary to protect the family.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
While there has been an alliance tax in the past, currently TVM has no tax. Leadership reserves the right to reimpose such tax. Should this happen, the tax revenue would be used for 1.) purchasing advanced resources to supply members in times of need and 2.) to support military and diplomatic units during war time.

Alliance Name:
Illy Training Ground

Recruitment Contact:
Marquesta, Cuchullain, or Tezran

Are you currently accepting new members?
Yes

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?
No restrictions

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
ITG provides training and the protection allowed to a neutral training alliance by the whole of Illy, the idea of which was originally proposed by Shrapnel in the early years of Illyriad, that new players should not need to worry about attack while learning the game.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?
ITG stands for the ideals that Shrap originally proposed, safety and peace to learning players. Our goals are to teach players how to get a good start in Illy, how to navigate the game in a conscientious way, and decide what they want to be when they grow up!

What type of player are you looking for as members?
ITG will accept any player into our ranks, the only thing we ask of them is to be aware of, and to follow our rules, participate in chat, and be courteous to others.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?
Players not only can leave, but are expected to move on to another alliance when they are ready. Other alliances in Illy do not generally look down on a player that has had previous experience in a training alliance, as they then don't have to train the player themselves. ITG is always looking for good leadership, so moving up in the ranks of ITG is a possibility, rather than graduating.
ITG reserves the right to remove a player from our alliance for attacking, in any way, another active player, whether they belong to another alliance or not. This is a three strikes rule, with probation following the first and second infractions, removal from the alliance after the third.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?
In ITG we use exercises and training tournaments to teach our members about military, diplomatic units and magic. This is only practiced with abandoned accounts, or NPC's in the case of military or diplo attacks, and on other ITG members in the case of friendly spells or harmless diplomatic missions.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
ITG does not have a tax.

Alliance Name: Wheel of time ( http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/wheel-of-time-wot-is-recruiting_topic4761.html" rel="nofollow - )

Recruitment Contact: Hell_Girl_Rei or King Korr

Are you currently accepting new members? Yes.

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)?
We accept everyone, as long as you abide by our rules (we don't have too many) and the rules of Illyriad. We don't ask anybody to move but we are mainly located in the Western area of Illyriad.
If you are under 1000 population, you may be asked to join our training alliance: Heroes of the Horn (HOTH), however, we do accept players who don't wish to join HOTH but want to join WoT directly.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)?
We protect our own. We provide resources and information to all our members. We strive to be a neutral alliance in general, staying away from the great wars. However, if we do get involved in a war because of our allies, our members will be given an option and the decision of joining a war is democratically decided by the whole alliance. We have many older members of Illy who would be glad to share information with others. We train our members to be whatever they want to be, without forcing them to do anything they don't want to.
Most of all, we try to keep our Alliance Chat active as much as possible, after all, chatting is one of the best things in Illy!

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?
WoT is basically about having fun. We believe that Illy is essentially a game and therefore should be enjoyable. We train for tournaments, but we seldom initiate violence. We protect our own when required but we always utilize diplomacy first.
WoT is like a family. We take care of our own and are supportive. Our main aim is to have fun, do well in tournaments and enjoy the game!

What type of player are you looking for as members?
An active player. The player does not have to speak in Global Chat but he or she is expected to speak in our Alliance Chat. Someone who does not mind sharing, and is (preferably) not a troll on GC or in general. Someone who wants to have fun, and play the game as a game.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance?
Yes, a player is free to leave whenever he or she wishes to. however, a simple message stating that they're leaving is considered polite but there are no consequences. Should the player ever wish to rejoin, they will be welcomed back with open arms (:
A player is only removed if he or she has been inactive for a very long time without informing the alliance first. Other instances include cases where the player has violated any of the rules of Illyriad or WoT's Charter. Such occurrences are rare, and do not happen often. WoT is an alliance with very few rules.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?
We sometimes have mini tournaments where targets will be specified to our members. They are allowed in attack in-actives through diplomacy or military, whichever.
Unprovoked hostilities are not encouraged (unless on NPCs, of course, they're fair game), a member should trust that the leadership will take right steps in instances when required.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for?
We do not impose a tax upon our members. Illy is a game, there is no reason to tax our members. If money is required for any purposes then the whole alliance is asked for donations: it is completely upto each individual. Resources are shared with each other, especially in times of tournaments.

Alliance Name:  Night Crusaders (~NC~)

Recruitment Contact: Sir Bradly, Asasama

Are you currently accepting new members? Maybe, but probably not. We're notoriously untrusting and picky.

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)? Any military-focused player is welcome, as long as you are willing to die and aren't a spy. And since you are probably a spy, you probably can't join.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)? Lots of military action, schadenfreude parties over the misfortunes of our adversaries, bad jokes, certain doom. Also you get to be part of one of the most tightly knit and supportive groups in the game. Despite our military focus, we are a light-hearted and fun-loving bunch. We laugh our asses off on a daily basis, and we would do anything to support each other.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles? We stand for principled mayhem. ~NC~ is pretty much a dictatorship, but our dictator has a good track record of doing what the rest of the members want. Occasionally, he even asks our opinion.

What type of player are you looking for as members? Soldiers, berserkers, saboteurs, masters of the dark arts of sarcasm.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance? We take a pretty dim view of players (and allied alliances) who leave during wartime, but we tend to get over it quickly. Being a jerk to your alliance mates will get you kicked instantly. Rorgash might siege you, you never know.

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?  You can do most anything you want. If you think it will cause trouble for the alliance, talk it out in AC for clearance. If an action is justifiable, we will approve it regardless of the risks. That's what principled mayhem is all about.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for? No taxation without representation! Or even with representation. Taxes are bad, mmmkay?

Alliance Name: Tsunami [WAVE]

Alliance Leader: Myll

Recruitment Contact: Prefer interested players to contact Ista, who is our Fisher King (lead recruiter).  Anyone in the Rank/Role of Fisherman and above can recruit new players.  Contact Myll if you are not receiving response. Our Fisher King position may rotate around, check first to see who is in that Role.

Are you currently accepting new members? Yes.

Who can join (any restrictions to race, location, population level, etc.)? Any. Prefer new characters that have not yet used their Tenaril Spell of Relocation.  Alliance intends to gather in The Wastes, no protection guarantee to towns outside that Region.

What are some benefits of joining your alliance (protection, training, etc)? Obtain long-term capabilities beyond the average player in game due to our unique Strategy.   New players in Illyriad can get their permanent town sites set and growing to full capacity without worries of graduating from a Training Alliance and potentially Exodusing their towns.  Training comes as a member, but we're not advertised as a Training Alliance.  We take a more traditional approach to teaching self-reliance for raising towns themselves, much as was done before Training Alliances were formed. As the alliance leader, I offer nearly 4 years of experience in the game, to include much world war experience, so this alliance offers a learning environment while retaining goals and scope as a normal alliance.

What does the alliance stand for? What are it's goals and governing principles?  Our historic alliance goal is to take advantage of water-based game play as it exists now (shoreline food), and when/if it matures in the future.  We specialize in Terra-Forming, and specifically Terra-Forming The Wastes.  Our goal is to play the game to its fullest possible extent, to include offensive and defensive wars (preferably arranged in tournament-like setting, while being capable of all-out war).

What type of player are you looking for as members?  Any and all, with frequent additions of new players.  Key word is "player" - which is different than someone who starts an account primarily to spam in Global Chat (GC) or harass others.  For those who play the game, you are welcome. A 99-member alliance should be diverse and I think any game player has potential to contribute to an alliance.  Most large/established alliances have outsourced the development of new players to their detriment, and they cherish too highly their large perma-sat accounts instead of seeing the value of purging the dead weight and reviving through new growth.  Every alliance should continue to obtain and help new players, as this helps to keep game veterans' perspective in check, and refreshed.  I think Training Alliances have led to a stale atmosphere in many established alliances.

Can players freely leave the alliance if they wish? If not, what are the consequences of leaving? What would cause the leaders to remove a player from the alliance? Anyone can click a button a couple times in this game and create an action that game veterans dislike or find abhorrent.  However, once a member is established in The Wastes with a Terra-Formed tile, it is disadvantageous to leave.  Former members' Terra-Formed tile(s) will be sieged for the benefit of the alliance.  Members who become so disruptive in chat that 3rd party complain to me and prove their problem with IGM that the individual is spamming or harassing unreasonably in GC --- if I deem it poor character, there will be warnings followed by being kicked (I won't say how many strikes till out, depends on severity of incident).  There is also some leeway for newb mistakes in attacking other players, but same as prior - if problems persist that could lead to a war not intended by alliance leadership, the player would most likely be removed.  Don't take this to mean that I don't believe in retribution - players always retain the right to self-defense in this game. (the "anyone can click a button" principle, in contrast to real world diplomacy)

What rules govern the alliance? For example, diplomats and troops: who can they be used against in a hostile manner (no one, only NPCs or certain factions, only those at war with, only inactives, only with permission, anyone not in the alliance or in NAP with your alliance, etc)?  If a non-member's town position relative to the collective defense of the alliance is seen as a threat, or advantageous to the alliance to seize, then you'll just have to await my decision.  Telling you my specific actions within an answer to this question would provide far too many advantages to potential competitors/enemies.

If the alliance has a tax on its members, what is the money used for? It is stored for the good of the alliance, especially if army sizes should exceed player capabilities to support in the short term.  I can say honestly (and other members have access to financial logs), that I have never withdrawn one single gold nor withdrawn one single point of Prestige to this date in the alliance's 2-year history.  While I do believe in creating ways to preserve the alliance, a member's contribution of gold or Prestige is to the Alliance, not the Alliance's leadership.
