Race to the centre of the universe! The race is to reach the centre of the universe (square 0 -2) closest to 8pm on Sunday 4th September. Start whenever you like - if you start too early you will arrive too early, and if you start too late well, you'll be too late. ALL ADVICE WELCOME advice needed - how to get there, how to prove it, how many prizes (winner takes all, or 20 runners-up, etc), military protection for those racing Nesse - 600 beer any other contributions?

Wow first ever race in Illy!  I too shall contribute to the prize pot! 2 million gold, 200 each of all advanced resources and 20K of basic resources Basic resources could be shipped in stages if the storage of the winner is small.

| I assume that screenshots of the World Map and the message/report received are the proof needed. Well IT SHOULD be the proof. Or we can also have a ton of people looking at the map at around the race end-time. We should also have a panel of judges or a committee. Experts in spotting photoshopped images are needed. :D |

Definitions (response to Lorre) Any scout/ advanced scout. No spies, thieves, or anything funny like that. You just need to set them off at the right time. I suspect most people will get this right to within 1 minute so GM has said that they will announce the winner (ie no need to go through photoshopped images, and we can announce winners to within 100th of a second - and no cheating possible) Next race will be . . . oh I don't know, a year from now? Let's just Nike! Sunday Sept 4th 8pm Illy time at the finish line. I'm hoping that GM can reveal all scouts on the board just for this race.

CLARIFY THE RULES - "Race to the Centre of the Universe" Open to all on Illyriad (well, everyone with a scout or advanced scout) - a race to the centre! We can't get exactly to the centre so we're racing to square 0 -2 (two below Centrum), one entry per player. HOW DO I WIN? The person whose scout arrives at the finish closest to the finish time (8pm Sunday 4th September 2011 - Illy time) is the winner. It doesn't matter how fast you are or how far you have to travel, you just start your scout at the right time. For example, my scouts take 19hrs 10mins and 22 secs to reach 0 -2 (you try - start one, get a time, then recall him/her). So to get to the finish on time I need to start my scout at 1:49 and 38 secs am (get up in the middle of the night). Your start time may vary. GM (the system) is timing and announcing the winners, so we should get the closest times within 100th of a second. To get a scout you need to build a consulate and research in Diplomacy - Negotiation/ Scouting WHAT DO I WIN? The Prize pot has contributions from lots of different people, who will ship directly to the winner! If your store room is small, then they will ship in small quantities so none are wasted. The winner will be made on Illy for about 4 weeks (that is, if you spend as fast as I do!) Contributions so far are: Gold - a little over 3 million Basic Resource (wood clay stone iron food) - 20,000 of each Advanced Resource - 1000 horses, 3500 cows, many thousands in leather armour, spears, bows, cows, saddles, plate armour, chain armour, swords, beer, books Partial lists of the contributions and contributors can be found in Caravanserai threads under "7 Days - a weekly newsletter" and "Race to the Centre of the Universe" GOOD LUCK - and PLAY FAIR |

| Very nice idea :) Worlds End held an in alliance competition that was similar, it was great fun, also WE will contribute to the prize fund, will let you know what when WE have discussed it. Could I suggest that if GM's are willing to time it, maybe you could ask them very nicely if they could announce the competition and give link to here, also it would be very nice if they could allow everyone to have diplo unit visibility around that area for the target time, its great fun to watch hundreds of diplos arriving somewhere all at once :) |

| The first racers should be out of the starting blocks by now - leaving the outlying islands and lands - Wolcast, Ursor, Quarosslan, tamarin, Taomist and Laoshin, Mal Motsha, Keshalia, Kul Tar, Elijal and Zanpur, Djebeli, Larn, Kem, Trone, some parts ot Turalia, Tallimar, Arran, Asura and Farra Isle, Kumala, Western Realms, Fremorn and the Wates and some parts of Kal Tirikan. Scouts running to 0 -2 should be visible on the game board - all other scouts are still hidden! |
