Lords and Ladies, Lego Enthusiasts and Frozen Peas of all ages,
As many of you may well be aware, a small rebel band of intrepid and rather good looking heroes, having endured tyranny and oppression at the hands of a corrupt and self-aggrandizing despot, broke ranks and appointed themselves masters of their own demesne.
Their reasons for doing so, were chronicled in GC by the troubadour of the ages "Sunstorm of the swollen nipples" and then bid "bon voyage" as the tale set sail on the good ship "Train Wreck" as it navigated it's way to "The Bitter Sea"
Charges were levelled, heckles were raised, flower beds were stomped and little girls braids were pulled until they cried, then they were laughed at and called "sissies" and "babies" and told "Go home to mummy". The propaganda machines were fired up and furiously toiled, earning time and a half for working overtime. (Hey, what can I do? They unionized)
The war drums had their skins tightened and could be heard loud and clear from deep within the Middle Kingdom. The howling (and occasional squeak, rather much like a tiny pig being dropped from an airplane) of eldritch magick echoed from western Keshalia. War erupted (actually, it was more like a burp than anything) yet again in the world of Illyriad!
Messengers were dispatched, neutral parties shared their opinions in excited tones around the table over pints (and rock shandies if you were a girl) at "The Global Chateau".
The leaders of Knights Templar roared, coughed and passed gas around their campfires.
It was time to lay out some rules for engagement and the conditions required before a laying down of arms (and the Sunday Paper) would occur.
Conditions required for the ceasing of hostilities.
The leaders of Knights Templar are united in their common goal to see the leader of Havoc, so named here as Johnny112, resign as both a leader and member of Havoc from here forth. For the period of one month, he shall be stripped of his ties to other Kingdoms and may not lead another alliance until the one month time limit expires. He is welcome to seek sanctuary by subjecting himself to the whims of another coalition of Kingdoms, but should he accept a position of leadership before the expiration of the time set, he will forfeit the terms laid out here and will be an eligible target once again.
What say you Tyrant?
Terms of Engagement
The leaders of Knights Templar, being both just and fat in belly, recognise that not all of Havoc Unleashed is as corrupt as their close handed and inconsiderate leader and will honor those of the oppressed populace who wish to remain free from conflict and retaliation.
As such, we request that those who wish to support the current regime and engage in hostilities, make themselves known and report in here. Only those names listed as being in collusion with his reprehensible eminence (So here named as Johnny112) will be the targets of the swift hand of justice that will be dealt to our foes. (And that one sparrow who keeps crapping on the hood of my volkswagon jetta. I seriously hate that bird)
Any members of Havoc, who send spies, scouts, thieves, saboteurs or assassins will immediately become eligible targets for retaliation.
Any members of Havoc, who cast spells from the Blight School of magic on cities waving the Knights Templar flag will immediately become eligible targets for retaliation.
Any members of Havoc, who reinforce cities of those in collusion will immediately become eligible targets for retaliation.
Any members of Havoc, who send armies against Knights Templar will immediately become eligible targets for retaliation.
Are the terms of engagement acceptable to the denizens of Havoc Unleashed?
We await your snivelling replies Good Sirs and Madams.

If we have already been attacked with blight and thieves from Knights Templar, before any rules of engagement were posted, can we assume we are a target?

No, as the terms state, only named targets placed in this thread or those who violate the rules of engagement will be targets.
This will allow smaller, newer and growing players to be left alone to focus on their cities.

Well I can finally type(took me a bit I was laughing so hard!). The answer is No. You started this in every manner perceivable with the only exception being the formal declaration. (though that's a technicality considering your alliance had incomming troops already) I do not accept your terms. I have done nothing for which I need to apologize to your alliance, I have not initiated aggression, and I have not insulted your alliance. I will not run, I will not hide, and I will not bow to your ridiculous demands. I will however, offer you terms for surrender. There will be a full return in equipment (or their equivalent market gold cost) for each troop you kill in your attacks. There will be a 500,000 gold war reparation cost for unwarranted aggression, and you are required to renounce your faulty claim of Casus Belli against Havoc Unleashed. These are my terms now. When, and not if but WHEN, Havoc defeats you the price in war reparations will rise, and so will the cost of troop replacement. [editted for more typo's]

Greetings,
I am greatly confused by a number of things involved in this situation.
First, alliance membership is by choice, not force. Members can chose
whether they want to join Havoc Unleashed, Knights Templar, any number of other alliances or
create their own alliance. What right, than, does a member of another
alliance have in dictating who is or is not an alliance leader?
Second, if there was a valid concern about Johnny's leadership, what
benefit does it have to attack those in his alliance? It sounds, to me, that the "Rules of Engagement" imply that Havoc Unleashed members are incapable of making their own decisions, in regards to their own leadership. Otherwise, it would be pointless to claim the attacks on Johnny112 have any purpose other than to terrorize a leader, and his alliance, for opinion differences. As Havoc Unleashed membership is not required, either for any player to join, nor remain a member of, in order to participate in Illyriad.
Third, the hostilities between Havoc Unleashed and Knights Templar did not erupt from failed diplomacy and irreconcilable differences. It started with unexplained, and unprovoked, thievery (and magic) against Havoc Unleashed members. As my duties include recruitment, and occasionally assisting new players with Illyriad, what justifies the theft of advanced items from my city? I am not a tyrant. In fact, I have faced conflict from views on respectful treatment of new players, and non-alliance neighbors, in general. That suggests that conflict is against those that do not agree with the Knights Templar. (Or is it coincidental that my city was attacked, by someone I had never heard of, for which there was no cost effectiveness?)
Even in attempted humor, the "Rules of Engagement" posted here, indicates who the real tyrant is. We welcomed you into our alliance. We offered friendship and an environment of teamwork and companionship. (And often a rather quirky sense of AC humor.) As is your right, you did not wish to remain within Havoc Unleashed. Rather than leave peacefully, as Havoc Unleashed held no ill-will toward you, the thievery began and descended into madness. This has nothing to do with Johnny112 being any type of tyrant. Its about power and domination. Who Havoc Unleashed has for a leader, and what, if any social skills he has in posting inter-alliance Mail, has nothing to do with you nor your alliance. There is no "freeing oppressed alliance members" as there is nothing that forced any Havoc Unleashed member to join nor anything keeping them from leaving, if they so chose.
If you want to show that this is not an attempt to dominate Havoc Unleashed, and exert external power over Havoc Unleashed, ending the hostilities would be a good start. My only crime is disagreeing with you. I am a member of Havoc Unleashed. If I want Johnny112 as my leader, that is my choice. Demanding that the leader, I chose, to step down, and leave the alliance he started, is not defending me, as a Havoc Unleashed member. Its an attempt to exert control over an alliance you chose to leave. Leaving was your choice. Staying is my choice.
I offer an olive branch, not a white flag.

You do not accept our conditions or you do not accept our terms?
Does this mean that your ENTIRE alliance wishes to participate in the conflict and all members are a free game? (We, however, will avoid conflict with players of total population size of less than 300)
We accept your terms for surrender should you succeed in defeating us (unlikely). As stated, we will pay war reparations in the amounts of the following.
1.) 500,000 gold war reparation cost for warranted aggression 2.) Full return in equipment (or their equivalent market gold cost) for each troop we kill in our attacks or destroy with our magicks 3.) We will renounce our valid aggressions against Havoc Unleashed. In fact, I will see you one step further, and should we lose, I will write a ballad for all the forums to see praising your leadership and prowess in battle.
Should we not see a list of players posted Wednesday, 00:00:00 server time, all players above population 300 will be eligible targets.

This one is wise. But time shall tell who shall win. I have been involved in three wars. I know the truth of them in Illyriad. They are long, and they are hard. Hack each other to pieces if you may. Hopefully you shall understand that war is the wrong option.
One point, however.... Coming from someone who is neutral in this affair. Has Havoc done any offence to ~K~T~ aside from being bad leaders (and that is simply an opinion provided by KT and NOT one I personally hold. I have not served under Johnny; I know not about his abilities)?

She has no respect, or he.. which would be slightly creepy.
Insulting players who are staying out of the way is a bad career option, and will most likely result in a joint strike force against your towns.

Hmmm, at first I thought your post was a little tongue in cheek. So my reply was also meant as such.
I can see now though, that your objection is not to your name being used, but to the title appended to it? While I personally can't see how that is all that offensive (stupid maybe, but not offensive), if it offends you, seriously, my apologies. It wasn't meant to offend, it was meant for humor.
However, I don't believe this last response, i(more a "threat") was warranted.
One thing I have noticed about the world of Illyriad, a lot of "larger" players like to wield their considerable population sizes whenever they feel slighted. Again, I personally don't see "honor" in that, but hey, it is a game, and like all games will be what the players and community make of it.

You have a pop size of close to 9000 to my 1.5. In this game, that is considerable. I am now confused, what would your intention be to join Havoc other than to engage in hostilities? I just can't see any other reason a player would open their sentence with "You had better cool it..." and ending with "...just to spite you". All that does not imply you would be joining Havoc for reasons other than attacking. Show me where I am wrong here and I will gladly concede the point.
If you could see I was joking the first time, then by what line of logic did you use to deduce I was being insulting the second? Why would you not assume I was continuing in that vein? It doesn't make sense. So, what it seems like here, is that you are simply looking for a.) some amusement (I am being reverse trolled? or b.) an actual fight for whatever reasons you yourself have. or c.) an excuse to join in the fun by joining up with Havoc. Heck, if that is your reasoning, stop playing around and just go do it.

I am not involved in your war and I am not taking sides. However, were I to take a side, it would be with Johnny112 who (yes, perhaps acted rashly - but) responded with integrity as he saw a member sending thieves to another active player. I disagree with his leadership decision to mass mail the alliance. I feel it was very honorable for Baughb to reimburse +extra to the person who he thieved.
So where does this leave you? You defected. I can see that you are loyal to your friend (and that is a good thing) - But your track record shows that you have been in and out of four different alliances now. You began rather tactful (which is a skill most people lack), but with time your comments have become more personal and more heated. Kilotov very sensibly suggested a ceasefire, and you shot it down as though you speak for the entire alliance. As it stands, you are on a warpath of destruction for you and your alliance. In short: "you had better cool it..."
So where does that leave me? I am staying out of it. I would no sooner waste my reputation of remaining in one alliance from the start, than I would send a siege to members of mCrow. It would be pointless and rather stupid. That is why I would make a remark about joining Havoc - because there is no way I would actually do something so idiotic. In short: "I have half a mind to join Havoc"
As it stands, I fail to see why my name was even mentioned in the first place... You asked me to create the DDD thread, and I did for nothing more than fun... You speak of war, and I speak of unicorns for no reason except to lighten the mood... You joke around with my name (attaching unnecessary tags to it) - and when I comment on it, you call me a sissy?! That is a schoolyard bully tactic! I can see that you didn't intend for it to come across in such a way, but it has. Your cause is not noble or just. You had issues with the leadership of an alliance, and you left. Instead of going on your marry way, you are pushing for war. You are fighting a loosing battle, and then end up offending people in the process who are trying to help and keep the situation light-hearted. In short: Any action I take (at this point) would be "just to spite you..."
My only advise is to stop now. You are carelessly burning bridges which might have been your means of escape and safety later down the road.

What I completely fail to understand, is how so many people are missing the obvious.
Let me spell this out.
Knights Templar is a 5 member strong alliance. I will only say that two of those members are both me. You would be pretty darn surprised to see how small we really are.
Initially, I was slightly annoyed by how Johnny handled the situation and I left. It is true I alliance hopped, you can ask Count Dooku his reasons for why I left his alliance and you can deduce why I left FDU. By the way, shameless plug here, the guys and gals at FDU are fantastic people. Regardless of how they view me, I wish them all the best.
Anyway, I soon got over my annoyance but found our espionage to be fun. Crazy to do so in a game with thieves, spies and magic attacks, right?
Next thing I know, Johnny announces into global that he is at war with ~K~T~ due to armies on their way from player Majono. From there on, the game took on a whole new life to me.
NOW there was real strategy, NOW there was real subterfuge. THIS was the game I saw advertised across the web, not just the build a few buildings and stockpile games, but a real, living breathing game with what I feel are REAL consequences to a conflict. It's GENIUS! And I applaud the developers for what they have accomplished. This isn't like WoW where I just res at the nearest GY, I actually LOSE something.
So, off I go to the forums to explore other avenues of fun. I write the most ridiculous, pompous and over the top thing I can come with, fully expecting a lot of people to be thinking (Oh, he's taking the p***, he is), only to find that several people have taken this whole thing a bit more seriously than I have. I was surprised really. Although, I do actually think that Johnny112 may have actually seen through the layers? I assumed he had from his reply, he seemed to be getting into the spirit of it.
~K~T~ clearly has no plans to be a "dominant" force in the world of Illyriad. We are also attacking a player much stronger than us and have given an outs of sorts to let those players who don't want to engage in this metagame an out.
In fact, this little "conflict" has been great for Havoc, they are a small alliance and already have an established name for themselves in the community. ALL eyes are on them, and me playing the fool has caused nearly everyone who pays attention to side with them. And BRAVO I say. That is a testament to the community.
What a lot of other people have failed to deduce, or maybe they just don't want to is: Does this StJude idiot really want a long term career in the world of Illyriad. If you are truly objective, you would have to say "no" and you would be right. I don't.
So in a sense, I have nothing to lose from my perspective, and a whole lot more to gain by playing the fool on this public stage. If anything, I am an attention w****.
So here is the deal, if I have genuinely offended anyone, I mean, seriously hurt your feelings, I will publicly apologise. If you feel wrong that some of your pixels (yes, that is all they are) were stolen or blighted, I will return them in the spirit of Baughb, with interest.
If my contribution to this community has been anything other than entertaining, and that neither this game, nor it's community is interested in these types of shenanigans. Then I will gladly move on and spend my time elsewhere, with no hard feeling whatsoever, and definitely a twinge of guilt.
Anyway, my one criticism of the community, and take this for what it is worth. Is that a lot of players seem to feel that only the "Big Dogs" can participate in this element of the game. There is a sort of pompous outrage that two "newb" alliances would be doing anything other than being "newb" alliances. It's not crushing criticism, but I would ask some of the other more established players to allow the newbs to have their fun too. Overall, it will be good for the health of this fantastic world the GMs have created.

Is this legitimate? Or more theatrics? Illyriad is not a "public stage," its a game played by a large number of people.
Are there others who enjoy these types of antics, and tactics? Possibly. Are they members of Havoc Unleashed? Only the spy that is distributing information to fan the drama llama-ism of this childishness. Why have these melodramatic attempts, at early twentieth century drama, not been directed at those sharing the same interests?
As I suspect, the quoted material above is simply more melodrama. (A movie heavy more suited for a silent comedy than anything else.) Should it be sincere, consider this a notification that your antics are not welcome, at least among those I routinely interact with on Illyriad, and not the least bit entertaining.
I recommend Evony. It will more suit your melodramatic, gaming interests.

SunStorm wrote:
You asked me to create the DDD thread, and I did for nothing more than fun |
Question. If one or the other of the sides already engaged (IE Havoc or KT) develops the ability to build and launch siege engines, are you going to attack and destroy that faction? As for myself (and I'm pretty sure my alliance) when we get that tech we're going to at least offer peace. We don't want to destroy KT and thus end their game, but we'd still engage in war if they don't accept it.

I have to disagree, as a famous Englishman said:
William Shakespeare wrote:

|
Now, I can't convince you of whether what I write above is sincere. And at the end of the day, I won't be put off if you aren't convinced.
And to be honest, I have no idea who your spy was who blabbed to LionHeartz, but other than his posts, I have no idea what you mean by "Are they members of Havoc Unleashed? Only the spy that is distributing
information to fan the drama llama-ism of this childishness."
ALL the members of Illyriad who hungrily login each day and post their "opinions" are the ones fanning the flames. And why not? It's human nature, it's why the greeks held their own tragedies in such esteem. In fact, Greek comedy has been said to have been "the last of the great species of poetry" (See? I can be pretentious too with allusions to earlier forms of theatre)
And I disagree that my antics are not welcome. Since I started Illyriad there have be no end to public spectacles, and a good many of them encouraged by the pundits sitting in the Global Chateau baying like dogs for more blood.
You had "The_Dude" spectacle, the _DuQ attacks newbies "too close" to him, the outrage of the noble Lorre, the machinations of the mad king Harry, the downright contentiousness displayed by Aneirin and the countless others who created havoc with their attention seeking antics before my time.
No, from my viewpoint, it had appeared that the community was eating this all up.

Well after knowing Johnny112 had been dealing with some trouble in his
alliance with some members getting thieved and now St.Jude running his
mouth off and insulting other players, I have to side with Havoc.
Advice to you ST.Jude, make peace and consider what your actions may
cause to happen. Johnny112 seems like a very capable leader and seems to
have a good grasp of the game. Knights Templar and you had best go back
to the negotiation table. And also I believe you owe Sunstorm an

Go back and read the whole thread Artorious before getting all bent out of shape. The insults have hardly been one sided, and if "swollen nipples" offends you, then you probably have much bigger problems in real life you should go deal with. You guys do realise that men have nipples too, right? You also do realise that it happens to be a funny sounding word also?
The fact of it is this, I already apologised far earlier in the thread to Sunstorm if he was offended. He is a big boy, and doesn't need internet white knights like you rushing to his aid.
If Sunstorm himself asks for an apology to me made in Global Chat, I will gladly comply. I will even name the time and place so he can youtube it and keep it for posterity. Serially. I swear.

I haven't misunderstood a bloody thing mate. This game was built with units who can disrupt and wage war. I simply choose to play that part of the game and let the dice fall where they may.
It would be nice though if there was a PvP flag you could turn on and off. That way people who don't want to get "attacked" - don't.

Well alright, I will say that the red wasn't my favorite color, but I actually like the multi colors. Makes the manotiny of reading the grayish letters of posts easier. Now just to try to figure out how to put the colors in my own posts. I personally liked the green that Manannan used in his commentary the other day. Actually, I'm not looking for anyone to be my personal arch enemy, or any alliance to be the arch enemies of my alliance. I simply felt (and still do) that if hostile troops where inbound against me, then war (whether officially announced or not) had been declared by the alliance who had the specified player in their ranks. Havoc attempted to reach out (Via Pulvorize, our alliance diplomat) whenever Knights Templar was set up. After that, we went our ways, and had no dealings with them. I was under the impression that they had turned to form a new alliance, and felt that if they wanted to do so, then they should absolutely feel free to do so. I do understand it's a game (to more directly answer what I think you were saying you wanted to ask me) and I hope first and foremost that people enjoy the game! I don't tell people how to play their game, because it's THEIR game, not mine, and I want them to play it in a way that brings them entertainment *. I believe that we should all be able to enjoy the game, and if it effects us in ways that arn't productive or entertaining, then perhaps the game isn't worth it, or they might need a break to breath and realize that it is just a game. * These though are bound by the community rules. I do not condone certain acts such as trolling, newb attacking, or unwarranted aggression for the simple entertainment value a few individuals. This part was added not to enflame anyone, and should not be considered a statement about anyone's actions. It is simply put in as a clarification statement.

I have been approached by Johnny112 to try to arbitrate a peace between the two warring parties. I will attempt to end this now so both sides can get on with things and start to enjoy the game as the rest of us do. If an agreement cannot be met then good luck to both alliances. I will freely admit a morbid curiosity as to which will prove Darwin's survival of the fittest especially as both claim to have the upper hand.

Looks more like Havoc has the upper hand to me, so I'm going to bet 1 mil on their victory!

well we are about a week into our conflict and the troops are marching dutifully to thier deaths. i know you have all been waiting to hear news from the front lines. Havoc have done well for themselves thus far. its hard to say who is winning and who is losing but we have blockaded thier capitol city for the better part of the week and they have mounted no defence save for one intial attack. havoc seems to be fighting a defensive war for the most part. its a boring way to fight but what do you expect. they have claimed to have a number of siege weapons and the ability to conduct a siege and yet they still do not use it.
i have a hard time believing that they can tear my city to the ground and yet they cannot remove the blockade to thier leader.( maybe they are tired of his leadership?) we have several outbound attacks at this time, and they have a few of thier own. i am amazed that we seem to be able to send twice the attacks with far less members. perhaps they are readying themselve for a giant offensive. unlikely since we have destroyed most of thier troops.
i think it is more likely that jonnie is unable to conduct any meaningful military strategy. even with the help of vets to guide him.
oh well, its not my alliance just my enemy. we will see if they can get it together or not.
i wouldnt hold my breath if i were you.
see you soon jony

All this bloodshed and not one orc involved, a pity.
I agree with kiloton. Save your armies for future battles against worthy opponents.

If you aren't being entertained, perhaps you should try starting a war with someone else? Try asking nicely and I'm sure someone will volunteer.

I have said it before, this war is fruitless and pointless. Why don't you just give each other one big
