Hi all,

If you don't even know what the old User Interface is (or that it even existed) then please read no further; as this announcement is quite simply not intended for you!

If you do know what the old User Interface is, and are still using it for whatever reason, then please be aware that the permanent retirement of the old UI is going to happen at Midday (server time) on Thursday the 16th of June

From that point on it will no longer be available to any player.

If anyone has any serious functional objections to this happening - and by serious, I mean truly along the lines of "but X piece of major functionality still doesn't work properly in UIv2" - then speak now and speak soon... or forever hold your peace.

Subjective preference objections along the lines of "but I prefer the old UI", "I can't find my way around the new UI" or "the old UI was simpler" are not going to prevent it from being turned off, and we're not interested in hearing them here; they should instead be posted in http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/user-interface-versiOn-2-uiv2-feedback_topic1533.html" rel="nofollow - the relevant UIv2 forum thread , if they haven't already been noted there.

The only thing that *might* delay a shutdown of the old UI is core, key, critical functionality that was in the old UI, but is still missing or not working in the UIv2.  And if you're aware of any then let us know, here, soonest.

Thanks for your attention.

SC

I'm afraid not, bartimeus.  iirc you've provided some information on your phone issue in the UIv2 thread already?

UIv1 has to go, and go soon, because there're some UIv2 releases that are beginning to stack up behind the requirement for it to retire.

"Soon" is a flexible concept.

It'll be ready when it's ready.

But I really liked the old UI ;)

Can we keep it around for that reason?

A lone trumpeter stood on a hill overlooking a grassy field.

The wind rushed through the tall grass, making it sway gently.

The trumpeter watched it for a while, then slowly began to play....

This is to you, old friend.  I hope that I'll be as happy with the new UI as I was with you....

If it means getting new updates then KILL the old UI NOW!
/me chuckles

I don't think you can retire commanders in new Ui. I know you can destroy them but I don't think you can retire them. Other than that....

Yup, you can.  http://forum.illyriad.co.uk/02jun11-patchnotes-commander-changes_topic1958.html - Item 2 here .  Patchnotes are good, patchnotes are wise.

Can we only have posts in this thread from people who actually, really, definitely know of core things that only work in the old UI (and not the new UI)?

Thanks in advance,

SC

Just to quickly break the rule there, it might be wise to add that the commander has to be outside of an army before retirement.
Just worked it out now...

Up until yesterday, from the Diplomat order screen, you could input the x|y coordinates.  That option is no longer available it seems in UIv2.  Not sure if it is available  in UIv1.

...addressed in the just released patch notes.

There's a new UI?Confused

Oh and have you fixed the feint option for attacking armies? I'm quite sure it doesn't work, unless it was fixed and i missed that part. It could create some problems...Tongue

What about the datafile exports?  As far as I can tell, they still run from old UI code (they stopped working when UI1 went down before).  I did ask about this quite some time ago, but never got a response.  I'm currently building systems which will rely on this or a similar data source, but have held off on the actual parsing and table structures thus far, not wanting to code against a moving target.

Should now be available in same path as before.

Forum alliance posts cannot be deleted from the new interface, you have to use the old one.

This happened to me too, I know that you cannot delete the original post but I cannot even delete the post under it, very frustrating

I'm posting it here because I'm not quite sure of what this entails:

Anyone else seeing the problem? I'm not sure whether this is just a typo, or whether I will be upgrading my wall to the level it already is.

The City Wall is a critical element of mounting a successful defence. Encompassing all the main buildings that form the heart of your thriving city, the City Wall provides defensive bonuses to all troops based at this location.

If I have an active petition for an issue with the new UI (that isn't present in the old UI,) do you need it described here too?

I think we should hold a moments silence tomorrow at midday (server time) in loving memory of UI1

Today's the first day without the old UI, and download has failed.  I'm using the url http://uk1.illyriad.co.uk/data_downloads/datafile_$type.xml where $type is alliances, players, or towns.  Fetching from a browser, I see the xml file, but using CURL to download, I either get "error" 302 (moved) or, if setting CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION=1, download the login page.  As far as I can tell, browsers aren't getting the 302 redirect.

EDIT: it seems datafiles are only available when logged in now.  Is this how it's going to be?  Do I have to put my Illyriad username and password in the download script, and interfere with logins by real browsers?

2 quick points:

1. stormcrow, your announcement at the top of this thread says the ui1 shutdown date is the 16th of july. i believe this was meant to be 16th of june, since the site is now unavailable.

2. still cannot delete one's own posts from alliance forums in ui2.

thanks!

I cannot find where to change alliance member ranks. Sorry for the late response but I thought the old UI was gonna be retired in July.
