I could use a point of clarification or two regarding the use of the 1 time move.

I'm currently on clay, giving me 7 clay / 3 wood slots.  If I move to a space that doesn't have that same configuration, how does the move impact my resource upgrades?

Say I move to another location that has 7 food, 5 wood, and 3 clay.  Do qty 2, lvl 1 slots open up in each wood and food and I lose upgrades to 4 of my former clay slots?  Or do they get transferred in some fashion to either the food or the wood as an equal swap?

Or am I misunderstanding the effect of moving my capital entirely?

P.S.  Sorry if this was answered elsewhere, I wasn't having much luck with forum searches in finding it.  Seems like something that should be included as erratta in a stickied post somewhere.

When you move to a new location, you will keep your current resource plot distribution--even if the new location currently has a different one.  There is currently no way to correct the resource-crappiness of our capital cities except to settle a second city and then destroy the first.

It is expected however that there will one day be magical means of terraforming existing cities to a new resource distribution, likely at very great expense and rebuilding involvement.

Thank you for the replies.

So I can have the benefits of a non-hill terrain for defense and still have 7 clay production, is that right?

So when scouting for a new position, I don't necessarily want to park it on the best square, but rather pick a spot that has the surrounding best locations?

Are surrounding best locations simply those that are thought to have high food values?  Or would it be better to pick a bunch of specialty tiles that have 1 resource type amped up for sovernty purposes?  I'm not certain why two tiles with 7 farms would be better than 1 tile with 14 farms.  I understand why I wouldn't want to park my capital on anything higher than 7.
