LAst night, GM Stormcrow let slip decisive information. I asked him whether the Council of Illyria could be defeated in a war. He replied thus...

@Nokigon - ooh, that'd be telling... but an excellent question. The content writers do have plans for various storyarcs, but we're endeavouring to keep them fluid, so they can react to player involvement as opposed to being "set in stone". But for sure, if a bunch of huge players/alliances start supporting the Undying Flame then the storyarcs are going to head in that direction.

This gives us an obvious decision! H?, Curse, do you want to be true evil geniuses? Then reach the peak of huge massive 'Oh damn that's just broken the Evilometer' ly Evil!

WE CAN DEFEAT KING SIGURD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Check the forum this was posted in. It was put there for a reason Wink

Blimey. I thought that after someone pointing out to me on GC that Murkach had similar ideas (See the Faction info on The Unseelie COurt to know what happened to him) this thread was closed.

YEAH! WE'LL DESTROY KING SIGURD!

If King Sigurd is so evil, wouldn't the appropriately evil thing for us to do be supporting him? ;)

Nah, evil forces never unite.  That's why good can sometimes prevail despite being outnumbered twenty-seven and a half billion to one.

*Evil forces never unite* but even in the direst hour of despair good forces and good alliances must. For the struggle against the night and evil must not be lost. Day will come again.

"Aure entuluva!"

In The Silmarillion  with the fifth battle (NirnaethArnoediad) against Morgoth obviously lost, Húrin told Turgon that he and the men of Dor-lomin would hold the Fen of Serech to allow the King and the Gondothlim? to escape. At nightfall, Huor , his brother, fell with a venomed arrow in his eye, and all the men of Hador were slain about him in a heap. Last of all, Hurin stood alone. He weilded a black two headed axe , and every time he slew he cried "Aure entuluva!" (Day will come again!).

in-character: Oh, but this kingdom is one in which you can all grow and flourish - what would you create if you try to overthrow the Kingdom? ...and can alliances remain cooperative to the last?

out-of-character: To thwart a coup, it would only take coding tweak ;o) However, events and quests that affect multiple alliances would be interesting, if the reporting of progress is well-handled, and an individual player felt their contribution counted.

I offer my battalion of Rangers of the North to this cause. Sigurd must pay! How dare he steal Susan from my dearest friend Nok? This calls for blood! Rally your people, muster your armies for we,the true Lords of this land, shall rule once more!

Isnt this issue more about alliances choosing either pro Council of Illyriad or pro Undying Flame?

Why kill the king if you will only end up with a worse King - No, this is a war of hearts and minds of the Illyriad population :)

If King Sigurd is the Icon of Captalist (Royalist) Society, then let me be the first communist to pop up and oppose them. The Undying Flame could easily be Illyriads Soviet.

Untrue; the newby protection is occasionnaly shut off when the devs want to test something that requires it.
I know first hand it happened at least once before, I used this oportunity to send scout or spy (was long ago, cann't remember which.)

Those who wish to side with the Rebellion,as we shall be known from now on,start training pikemen. Sigurd's mammoth cavalry will not be an easy prey.
