Hi All,

Coastline & Island Region assignment
Over the last few days we've tidied up coastlines a bit, especially in terms of making sure that all terrain is assigned to a region.

Some of you were living in "The Ocean", but you may have noticed that your piece of land is now assigned to the nearest major region.

This tidy-up was a necessary step towards the release of Trade v2, as trade hub price visibility is on a regional basis, and the Ocean posessed no trade hubs :)

NPC square seeding
The desert biome was finally seeded with NPC Spawn points, so that NPCs now spawn in these areas.

NPC square graphic changes
Up until now we only had 6 NPC squares:
  • Standing Stones
  • Barrow
  • Abandoned Mineshaft
  • Ruined Tower
  • Ancient Forest, and
  • Dolmen
We've released a new graphics pack which adds 18 new NPC square types to the list, many of which are biome-specific; from Temples lost in the Jungle to Far Eastern Pagodas, from Pyramids to Hunting Lodges.

With the exception of the desert biome (which had no NPC squares), we haven't seeded any new NPC squares nor have we changed any of the underlying Wood, Clay, Iron, Stone & Food numbers on any NPC squares.  You might find, however, that the graphics have changed for squares near you.

We hope you enjoy the new graphics and some of the new, newer NPC units and spawns that have come with them.

Regards,

SC

Very nice, thank you for the effort put into this, SC and team. My compliments to your artist(s) as well as people doing work that may be less visual but just as important.

I definitely agree. I think that Illyriad is by far the best of all the games I have played, and that is a compliment. I have been bored in the past.... But the thing that makes Illyriad great- well, the two things- are the fantastic community and most of all the Devs that have put so much time and effort into this great little game. UI2, the new strategic map, Trade v2... I could go on for ever, but now, most recently, this.

*goes into fangirl mode* WE LOVE YOU DEVS!!!!!!

So does this mean that the glitch where only Several and Handfuls spawn on stormstone island is solved?

Whilst we're famously psychic, we sometimes aren't able to solve issues that we haven't been made aware of Big smile

Perhaps a Petition on this subject might help us look at the issue? Wink

At the time I wasn't sure if it was a glitch or not, so it was written as "This is happening" but without the "can you fix it?" in turn you might have misinterpreted it. My bad, its #2228 in case your having trouble finding it.

I am seeing that the new biomes can be settled, is this "working as intended?"  (i.e. able to settle on say a 15 plus food spot?)

Hi Anjire,

No, it's not permitted, and when you try to send out your settlers you should get an error message to this effect.

If this doesn't happen, please let us know via a petition!

SC

Just to clarify - settling a new biome is absolutely permitted, but settling on an NPC square or an "impassable square" (such as a canyon) is not.

Any square that has a resource count of more than 7 of any type should be unsettlable.

SC

Sorry, bad choice of the word biome on my part.  I should have used NPC spawn point instead of biome.

I am not sure if it gives me an error as I don't have a slot open to settle a new city at this point.  I do know that it does have the clickable option, when empty of resources or NPCs,  to "send settlers."  When clicked it takes me into the settler window to build, etc.

With the older NPC spawn points the option to "send settlers" has never appeared for me.

case in point -667,  -387

A very useful report, ty Anjire.

If you actually try and send the settler(s) it'll throw an error saying "Can't settle this location"; however, I completely agree that we should remove the option to "Send Settlers" to these locations from the interface, and will chat to TC about getting this impemented.

Many thanks,

SC
