Changes (17MAR):
Oh where are my armies, and what are they doing?
Armies that formed camps through the activities such as Reinforcing, Sieging, Occupying, Capturing and Blockading would go incommunicado when they set up camp. They now report back where they are, what they are doing and how long they will be doing it for before returning home.

Additionally you can quickily jump to their location in the map from the Military Summary.
Patch: Combat and armies
A fairly chunky patch has just gone live regarding armies and combat. This should fix (amongst other things):
  • The "NPC Units" description of player armies when you attack them on an NPC (Resource) Square
  • The "phantom" armies remaining in situ after they have been defeated, and preventing reinforcements
  • Defeated and entirely destroyed armies should now trigger a message saying exactly this. Your (dead) commander should be instantly returned home, and the army/divisions/units should have been destroyed as well, meaning that you don't need to wait for a dead commander and army to return home after a failed engagement.

Fundamentally, the army has ceased to exist after all units (including commanders) have been killed.

As you might imagine, this is another fairly significant code update and we welcome any and all (detailed, please) bug reports regarding this.
Buglet (resolved): Raiding resources
A small buglet (introduced by one of yesterday's bugfixes!) meant that raiding resources from other player's cities would not necessarily gain anything. This has been resolved.
Map Changes affecting Alliances
Alliance members moving about on the map will now appear as blue icons, and give you details of the numbers of troops that are in their army/diplo movement; even if they are not going to or from one of your towns.

However, if they are sending diplomatic units to one of your towns this will still show as red.

On the flip side; if you use the covert skill for armies or the stealth skill for diplomats; these units will not show on the map to your Alliance under any circumstances.
