Subject: Supposed basic laws?

I noticed a dispute between Gemley and nokigon about something he apparently did a month ago, and when stuff like this gets on global or in the usual forum topic "i didnt do anything" players will often have to decided who to support.

Why can't there be a few basic laws for all?

like this one for example.

1. Can not be punished for a crime in the past. " So let's say you thieved someone a month ago, that person can't have grounds to suddenly attack you now and expect to get away with it".

At the very least proposed laws could help sway whom the community should favor.

I agree with you ATH

To be brutally honest, I don't see why we should turn Illyriad into a law. Some incidents can only be taken care of after a month, because of weightier affairs.

Only the aggrieved are qualified to set the statute of limitations on any particular crime.

What does that mean?

Means: You have to be involved to have any clue as to whats going on. Besides - who would enforce this law in a meaningful way? If you dont like a player you can siege him out of the game, but you dont need a law to do that. If someone said "Im siegeing your ally and theres nothing you can do about it coz its the LAW, id tell them to get stuffed".

ATH: There is NOTHING wrong with meaningful contribution. Please don't take our disagreement on a concept as negative judgment on you.

Any well intentioned concept has my full support for consideration.

aside from the posted game rules, there are no laws here -- we are free to act as we please and we are free to react as we please

Illyriad "sort-of" already has laws, seeing as most alliances have basic rules or laws established and if most of alliances follow the same rules or laws then it makes up basic laws for the community as a whole.

Dear Sir Attila the Hun,
Your idea of laws is not completely in error.  I would suggest that you contact the capital city of each alliance asking for their basic laws concerning other alliances.  You could then compile these laws into a written code which the alliances have already agreed to.  This would be a good way to start.  Good luck!

As this is a "sandbox" game, there are no laws. But, as it is a sandbox game, you are free to pursue creating laws! That's the beauty of it... the game becomes what the players make of it!

every alliance, isnt that like over 350?

Sure, every alliance.  Send them all a letter with your intentions asking for their rules both implicit and explicit.  Only one point I would like to make before going back into isolation; start building an army.

You know, that is quite possibly the best one line answer I have ever seen in a forum - and I have seen a fair number of them!  Very accurate and very true, well done mate Clap

btw - nice one Mr F Wink
