I know that the topic of magic enhancements comes around as regular as clockwork and with the new interface it won't be anywhere near the top of the devs priority list but here goes anyway...

A major issue i've always had with Blights, is that their max range is not very far.  This has become much more of an issue since the big move where distance is so much greater. This can make blights a waste of time and means that after you've got your ward of destruction and natures bounty you don't need any more investment into the Mage tower.

My proposition is pretty simple but I think it would have a drastic effect on Mage towers and their use, probably in ways I haven't even considered (but then that's half the fun!).

Where the spell power is currently linear, i would suggest that it should actually be exponential and should be linked to distance. I feel this would give a benefit to upgrading the Mage tower beyond level 15, plus would allow powerful magic users to hit players from opposite sides of the map.

This would also make moonphase and elves racial bonus have much more impact, make blights a much more dexterous and powerful offensive weapon but could also mean that geomancy "spell protection" becomes less effective - depending on how implemented.

At the least, it could provide a platform for ideas for new magic schools.

What we really need is for spell power to have more meaning.  Nature's Bounty with high spell power should provide more food bonus than Nature's Bounty with low spell power.  Blights with higher spell power should do more actual damage.  Etcetera.

Only in a reasonable manner, HM, but  agree.

It shouldn't make the effects 5X the bonus or anything like that.
