The first listing is "Range"
The second listing is "Maximum Range".
I understand the Max Range. But what does the first listing "Range" tell me?

| Given the way the MP cost to cast a spell can be much greater than listed, my guess is Range is the area within which the spell costs exactly what you think it will cost. Any target between Range and Maximum Range will increase the MP cost of the spell. A target beyond Maximum Range cannot be affected by the spell. |
