Subject: *Sigh* Multiple Account Question

I have two accounts. My wife keeps seeing me play this game and she wants to play, but I don't want to give either of my accounts. They are mine! :)

I'm assuming IF she played, she would want 2 accounts also. This, I assume is a big no no. However, I log in only through my laptop and aircard. She would log on through our home internet. Technically it's 2 different IP addresses, but I have put some time and (for me) a lot of money into this game. She would join my alliance and no doubt we would help each other, me more so since I"m so far ahead.

I don't want to lose my accounts because there is no way of telling if it really is another person logging from a different IP. Or if it's me just making all this up. So what are my choices that would allow her to play without any risk of me losing my accounts?

1. Give her my 2nd city. - No

2. Take the chance. - No

3. Tell her sorry but you can't play. - Rather not

There are other Husband/Wife teams in Illy, each with 2 accounts.  Maybe they can tell how they do it.

You must first take into account who will do the cooking and cleaning once the both of you are Illy addicts.  I usually put several pieces of cold chicken next to my computer, along with the bag of cookies and coffee pot.  The kitties take care of the cleaning up.  Just trying to help.

I would just tell the GMs and see what they say. They will probobly comment on here in a little bit so just hold tight. Big smile

The way I see it, 4 accounts are better than one.  There have been issues with same IP addresses in the past though, so I would consult with the GMs.

Thanks everyone. I was going to send a petition but I'll see if they respond on here over the next couple of days.

Thanks again! Clap

Avoid excessively sitting for each other, and never directly log into each other's accounts and you should be fine.  The devs catch multis using much more clever heuristics than IP matching.

Indeed they do.

I"m sure they do but after about 5PM eastern there will be times, a lot of them, that we do log on at the same time or pretty close to teh same time. I would also help her with shifting resources and things like that. I just love this game to much to lose it to us doing something stupid.  It's happened before in other games.

i personally have 2 accounts and i sit the other one for time and convenience. me being the computer geek i am have thought you could have more than 2 with this method but i wouldn't try it Especialy since i have to sit the account of my uncle who is currently overseas and might only be able to get on once a month. but i would talk with the GMs because even if you use air port and your home has a wireless router it will still show up via the same ip address the computer would.

Indeed we do!

The long and short of it is that - if more than 2 accounts share the same computer/IP address there is a slightly larger chance that the multi-account-hunting software will flag your account(s) up for further investigation; however in these circumstances we always do a manual review (including getting in touch with the players involved for further explanation) and you won't just find your accounts suspended suddenly.

However, the software is substantially more sophisticated than simple IP matching so this is a rare circumstance.

We do, indeed, have (for example) single computers on school/university campuses or military bases that are used by multiple account holding players, and the software has no problems in distinguishing between the different players' "playstyles" in order to differentiate between them.

GM Stormcrow
