Hi :)

I'd like to suggest a colour change on the +wood, + iron etc.

I find it very difficult to read the green numbers on the brown background.
I have to get within a few inches of the screen and look under my glasses to be able to read the numbers at the top.

Weirdly, stone, research, books and the rest of the bottom line are all easily readable but the ones higher up are very difficult.

My preference would be red numbers but someone in chat mentioned that red is a 'popular' colour blind colour so I don't know if that would be the best choice.

For me it's not a colour blind thing, its simply a bad eyesight thing.

I agree about the poor contrast between the green and the gold background - especially the darker gold tones.  And my eyes are farily good, still.  :)

The problem might be that you are using a CRT screen. My laptop displays the numbers perfectly, even though I am a bit farsighted in one eye.

LCD flat panels.  Both my desktop and laptop.  It is somewhat improved if I increase brightness to painfull levels.  Leather Armor production is the hardest to see.

After reading and responding to this post, I realized that I was subconciously squinting to see those little green numbers. When I looked at them normally, I saw what you guys were talking about. I suggest making the numbers blue.

Or just Bold Black.  Also, comma separators in the quantities would improve readability.

I think Bold Black  would be best.

We're very interested in improving the experiences of players with impaired eyesight and/or colour-blindness of the most common variants, and we want to make sure that we sucessfully implement systems that work for as many people as possible.

However, the User Interface version 2 is really very close to going live, and this substantially changes the current Illyriad User Interface - for the better.

We have, during the redesign, borne in mind the visibility of certain colour combinations as well as the red/green issues around colour-blindness (indicating these colours via other complementary mechanisms such as boldness and italicism) and we hope that the new schemes are more attuned to these criteria.

So please hold off final comment until the new User Interface is live, and - after it's in place - let us know whether things are better, and also how we can improve them further.

Regards,

SC

Maybe just write it in white and put a little black box in the background. Seems to work for subtitles.
