Hey all. Being a devout fan of music I believe in sharing the wealth. I realise much comes down to taste and preference, but occasionally I come across musicians so adept that it blows my mind.
So to ensure that everyone else may benefit from the wealth I will post the Youtube links here. Hope you enjoy them
:)

Actually, my physical self is quite partial to certain flavors of orchestral, instrumental, and cultural (Eastern or Celtic) music.  Here's a semi-random sampling:

The Balcony lyrics by Rumour Said Fire

So your mouth tastes like sunshine baby
but your eyes are all cool buried in my arms ....
And the breeze takes us deeper and further into the heart of a moment that is gone
....
And the scent of your heartache baby
and the taste of your blood run within me
And there are red flowers in your spit when you enter my mouth under the bed
down on the floor

http://trineswardrobe.dk/files/2010/01/1982061-the-rumour-said-fire.jpg">
....
So take me under the floorboards;
I would love to feel like wood
Take me back to the retards;
cause the world just make me sick
There are colors in the air when I fall to the ground
How we´d love to fall more often
....
There´s a band in our cellar baby
and they´re playing a song of the drunks in the street.
And I can hear when they´re playing their love songs
cause the kids in the yard stop playing with their toys
....
So take me under the schoolyard
there are kids there who got lost
Their mouths all shouting asphalt and their bodies torn apart
There are colors in the air when I fall to the ground
I can sense a world of heartache
but I love the sound
of your hair
when it falls down from the pillow late at night
On the brink of illusion it´s the devil in my eyes
Waiting for the moment to kill me inside
How we´d love to die more often
....
So take my hands love there´s a burst inside our minds
Feel my hands love cause I´m numb from the neck down
And there is fire love on the balcony right here
I can see our bodies burn but sense no fear
....
And your mouth tastes like sunshine baby
but your eyes are all cool buried in my arms
And everything matters for a second as we fall to the ground

The Balcony lyrics by Rumour Said Fire

Yeeha, this list is developing quite in the best direction =)
Thanks for opening that thread!

Hmm...

Then I might add some myself:

Corvus Corax - Cheiron
Omnia - Fidhe ra huri
Omnia - Twa Corbiez
and recently found: Kerion - Riders of innocence
                                Lyriel - Surrender in dance
and of course many more of those great bands.

All those are in Youtube, of course, but I'm too lazy to search the links.
If you search them all at once, you might drop over my playlist  =)

How about my all time favorite?  Fish Heads, by Dr. Demento:

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

In the morning,
Laughing happy fish heads,
In the evening,
Floating in the soup,

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Ask a fish head,
Anything you want to,
They won't answer,
They can't talk

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

I took a fish head,
Out to see a movie,
Didn't have to pay
To get it in

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

They cant play baseball,
They dont wear sweaters,
There not good dancers,
They dont play drums

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Roly poly fish heads are never seen
Drinking cappucino in Italian resturants,
With oriental women, yeah

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum, (yum!)

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum

Fish heads fish heads,
Roly poly fish heads,
Fish heads fish heads,
Eat them up yum,

Yea..

Want to be like me

They be winking at me

Hard to look this good
Feeling so good
Strutting my stuff because I know I am good

Illyriad be hatin
Illyriad be hatin
Illyriad be hatin

That is okay, hah, ha ha
Ladies love me
They be winking at me

I be getting calls from da ladies
Be spending times with da ladies
They be thinking about having me baby

Illyriad be hatin
Illyriad be hatin
Illyriad be hatin

That is okay, hah, ha ha
Ladies love me

You think you be hurting me
My buildings are gone, woe is me
Oh well, I guess I will replace that time with a lady be (lady moans)

Hard to look this good
Feeling so good
Strutting my stuff because I know I am good

I be smooth

While I'd imagine my music for the soul isn't anything anyone here would ever guess (it's drastically different from the musicians of which my cities are named after) I still don't think it would necessarily fit anyone elses tastes either. None the less, if anyone is interested in listening to something a little different, this song is one of the few songs that despite having no lyrics makes me feel something. (though I can never quite put my finger on what it makes me feel)

Ok back to Music for the Soul

Rainy Day, Dream Away by Jimi Hendrix from his 1968 album ''Electric Ladyland''
Lyrics:
Hey man, take a look out the window 'n' see what's happ'nin'
Hey man, it's rainin'
It's rainin' outside man
Aw, don't worry 'bout that
Everything's gonna be everything
We'll get into somethin' real nice you know
Sit back and groove on a rainy day
Yeah
Yeah I see what you mean brother, lay back and groove.

Rainy day, dream away
Ah let the sun take a holiday
Flowers bathe an' ah see the children play
Lay back and groove on a rainy day.

Well I can see a bunch of wet creatures, look at them on the run
The carnival traffic noise it sings the tune splashing up 'n'
Even the ducks can groove rain bathin' in the park side pool
And I'm leanin' out my window sill diggin' ev'rything
And ah and you too.

Rainy day, rain all day
Ain't no use in gettin' uptight
Just let it groove it's own way
Let it drain your worries away yeah
Lay back and groove on a rainy day hey
Lay back and dream on a rainy day.

Thanks Tordenkaffen, really good song. I love the live version from Berlin last year.

Sting and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Berlin 2010 - Fragile
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0sQcC4Duc0&playnext=1&list=PL26B95A18D61061E8" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0sQcC4Duc0&playnext=1&list=PL26B95A18D61061E8

Anyway - bellow is my contribution to this thread. It is soo hard to only pick a few, but except for the last song I was in a "soft" mode this morning. This is a snapshot of my soul this Thursday morning:

Radiohead - Street Spirit: Not much to say about this one, dark and beautiful song and a just as beautiful video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-uv_simb1I" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-uv_simb1I

Radiohead - House of Card: ... on the theme of Radiohead and beautiful then this song and video from the 'In Rainbow' album is a must
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nTFjVm9sTQ&feature=related" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nTFjVm9sTQ&feature=related

Dave Matthews - Say Goodbye: Master piece and master performance (my apologies for you who are impatient, the drum intro is almost 4 min, but if you just kick back and relax it builds up. Don't be surprised if you suddenly find yourself playing the drums on your lap, table, pots or whatever is available)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY1YqcU4d-8&feature=related" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY1YqcU4d-8&feature=related

Pear Jam - Yellow Ledbetter: How do you choose one song from Pearl Jam... and pick only one band from Seattle?? Given the mode I'm in atm, this was the choice. Grrrreat guitar riff!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUyJoojCLnc&feature=related" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUyJoojCLnc&feature=related

Sting and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Berlin 2010 - Desert Rose: Another great song from the same concert as Fragile above - I love how the music is running/galloping and slowly flowing/bellowing at the same time, really taps in to the mixed feeling of passion imo. Really sorry about Stings occasional dancing attempts though Tongue
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-mCzvUe1EM&feature=related" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-mCzvUe1EM&feature=related

ok, I guess I have to stop now...

EDIT: oo I forgot, tallica, the cow bell sketch is one of my SNL favorites, hilarious!

Oh, this is great! Nice to see such variety (I grew up on opera and classical myself), even some Toots and LKJ! I saw Toots perform in Golden Gate Park, and it was like watching James Brown do ska. Also saw Burning Spear there.

Amongst everything I listen to, I like to sprinkle in some indie jams:

Depeche Mode has always been my favorite band and Enjoy the Silence is, IMO, the best song they have.Everything in it is perfect. The lyrics, the rhythm, the video... Like they say "Words are very unnecessary" to describe it.
