I saw somewhere that elves get more mana from their mage tower than the other races. I also heard that an elf can settle a second city at 450 pop but a dwarf needs 500. Are these things true? Are there more differences between the races? Besides troop strength/speed |

Im not sure about the Settling, but... Elves: Better Bowmen Dwarves: Better Swordsmen Orcs: Better Spear Humans: Better Cavalry (there are other bonuses for each race but those are the onces that come to mind, hope this helps) |

Yes, elves get a special bonus on mana. No, I don't think elves can settle a new town with less population.. very unlikely. Every race has its own bonus. Humans have the best cavalry, while dwarfs have the best siege weapons.

So elves do get more mana. That makes me think that there may be other subtle differences between the races. Since its already agreed that elves have the best troops, its doesnt seem right that they have a mana bonus too. Without giving the other races something also...... |

Elves have a 5% bonus to mana production, and they require 450 population for a settler. Evles also have the fastest troop movement over all (from what I've seen). http://uk1.illyriad.co.uk/view_all_units.asp?unit=0 |

A couple clarifications from what I've seen.
Elves have the best DEFENSIVE troops. Humans have the best offensive troops for the Plains and Dwarves have the best for mountains and forests. Hills are a toss up between Dwarves and Humans.
Humans have the fastest advanced bowmen.
Orcs can build enormous armies cheaper and faster than anyone else. Dwarves have the best siege weapons. Humans have the best Spies & Assassins, Orcs the best Saboteurs, Elves the best scouts and Dwarves the best thieves (I think these are accurate).
To my knowledge noone can build cities faster than anyone else, so that rumor is false.
In fact, the more I play the game, the more jealous I am of my alliance mates who chose Humans and I kind of wish I had, instead of choosing an Elf...
