..Hi again.. I have a new queston.. it is about the relationship between races and terrain...

..I'm an Elf.. and I'm planning to move my city on a better positioned terrain.. but before to do that.. I would learn more on this match...

actually my willage is positioned into a "Ligth Forest"...    thougt to move it on a Hilltop Forest.. to get a defense bonus ..or so on..

but .. maybe more usefull move my town into an Ancient Forest ??

..please where can I find  detailed explanation about terrain types and their relation with Illyraiad's Races ??

Thank You very much Tongue

go to the help section of the forum and click on the thread titled combat

terrain bonuses are based on unit types and race effects your base unit stats

..so terrains do not affects racial bonuses ???.... only military ???

..I mean.. no difference for an elven town ..be palced into  a forrest instead to be on a top of a stone mountain ??

The best military units for elves are archers.  Archers like being up on hills or mountains.
In a dense forest, archers are pitiful and get killed by almost anything.

Hope that helps.

..so.. there is no connection between races and terrain bonus...

dont mind if a elven town is on the top of a peak .. or if a dwarfen town is on a plain ....

usualy..is a common place that elfs live in the forrest.. dwarfs on mountain (for minier..).. and so on...

..bonus count only for military units..

.. so no sense for an elven town .be in an Ancient Forrest ???

is that rigth ?

well you cant build on an ancient forest tile, and yes the standard fantasy belief of were everyone lives doesnt really work out on this game having 3000 archers firing into a forest is not going to be that effective with plenty of tree cover for the defenders and whatnot

but as for were to build a city pick a plot that has the best military advantage for the troops that you are going to use or a plot with the resource distribution you want/need i personally prefer the 5/5/5/5/5 plots just for symmetry. if you plan on building mostly archers and think you may be attacked alot i would build in a mountain tile or maybe a plains as archers still receive a small bonus on open ground,

its all personal preference and it can change depending on your style of play  though diversity is good also, having cities on different tiles is not a bad thing especially in the later stage of your cities when food becomes a problem having a 7 food plot is not a bad idea

Races DO start on tiles that suit their race. (elves in forrests, dwarfs on mountains etc.)
But for the next town you settle, you can choose for yourself where you want that town. So elves CAN live in moutains by your choice.

Btw, you can't settle in ancients forrests nor mineshafts etc.
