Update 22OCT2010
In keeping with our current theme of sheepish apologies
Between approx 11:50 and 13:50 today, the event queue processor stopped.

The event queue processor is a chunk of code that "makes everything happen" in Illyriad, and is therefore rather important.

This meant that events (such as completing a building or research, or caravans delivering things, or armies arriving at a destination) were "on hold" for the duration.

We have tracked down the bug that caused this, fixed it, and restarted the event queue - and it's working fine again now.

The bug was well hidden, siege-related, and has been lurking for months: and thus *entirely* unrelated to any recent changes (ie caravans and harvesting). A highly unlikely and unusual circumstance cropped up (a town being deleted as an inactive town *during* a siege bombardment). We've changed the code to take this possibility into account in the future.

Apart from the 1h40m where nothing "completed" ingame, we don't believe there are any major knock on effects.

Minor knock on effects that you might experience might include:
  • Emails were saved up and then delivered simultaneously when the processor restarted
  • Caravans harvesting resources might harvest more than they should have (in which case, lucky you)
  • Some siege bombardments may have failed to hit, and may have repeated multiple times (at the same time)

There may be a few other effects, but they are likely to be "presentational" (ie your Town Summary Building History page might show a building completed at 13:50 instead of when it should have completed at ie 12:40).

Another huge apology from us all. We're still doing a post mortem.

SC
