Audrey Quest 2025 [posted on behalf of Freyja] It is that time of year once again, and we will be waking up Audrey for the annual attempt at the quest.
The plan is always to wake up Audrey in December, but some players
are going to try waking her up in November. So, the plan for this year
has changed slightly.
For anyone attempting the quest this year, you should already have
the steps done and be building troops and/or diplos to feed to Audrey.
You also need to convince your friends and alliance mates to help feed
Audrey because it takes millions of units. We
need all the units we can get. These steps should be done already, if attempting the quest:
1. finish all crafting research in 1 city
2. send spies to the Fortune Teller, until you get the quest fortune
3. wait 5 days for the old crone to visit your city
4. have a full set of corrupted tentacles in your inventory (5 of each race)
5. send a messenger to Duraz Karag
**Steps must be done BEFORE Audrey wakes up**
(see the Audrey 101 forum post for a full explanation)
TAKE NOTES!!!
Record all activities related to the quest – date/time for the
Fortune Teller, date/time for the old crone, date/time for Duraz Karag
Record what is going on with your city – vault lvl, city wall lvl, other buildings
Record troops #s – troops sent to Audrey (before AND after she wakes
up), troops reinforcing the city, diplos reinforcing the city
(especially thieves)
Take notes on everything because we do not know how to solve the quest and all information could be useful. This part of the plan has not changed -- we still want to try feeding
Audrey even after she wakes up. The temples and getting corrupted
tentacles is not important, and we need players to send all units
directly to Audrey. This is an experiment and we don’t
know if it will work or not, but it is a very well thought out theory
and plan, so I hope the community will help us feed Audrey and solve
this quest, finally. We need as many players as
possible to help with this huge chore. We can’t do it without all of
you. Please help us. Recap:
Players should have already done the steps and time is running out to get them done.
Players are going to start feeding Audrey in November, a month earlier than expected, but it’s okay.
When Audrey wakes up, keep feeding units DIRECTLY TO AUDREY, not the temples. Feed Audrey until she is “sated” and we get the 2nd old crone visit, that happens while Audrey is awake. As always, you can email me (Freyja) in-game or post questions here.
Or email Remy. This theory we are trying was his idea, and he knows
what’s going on.
Thorfinn's part: There is a small window for anyone wanting to attempt this. I am in talks with people still to acquire as many troops as possible for this. Likely to happen between 3rd-10th of November. This is when CHILL will send millions of green meaty men at this. We are also getting quest towns ready so if you want to have a good shot at this. Get your stuff together.

TLDR: We are going to have troops land on the heart on the 10th of November. This will 100% wake her up. What we need after her waking up is troops to still keep going into the heart. Ignore the temples unless you want tentacles, if you want to progress Audrey, send to the heart.

Great idea and good work organising, Thorfinn. If we solve the quest it'll be legendary, beats another tourney medal at least :P I'll throw in 3 or 4 million xp, will figure out what troop types and mail it to you.

Based on GC chat it seems multiple people aren't getting the old crone to visit their cities, namely in cities that have attempted the quest before. Anyone know why that might be?

Jah has made a ticket, he has the same issue. I had heard from someone that if you failed Audrey on a quest town previously it would reset so another attempt can be done. When I say "fail", I.e no one fed her enough, not the towns with tentacles outside.

I suppose it could be a number of things but we have no idea which. The quest failed and that city can never make another attempt. The quest failed and reset. That would indicate we should get the old crone again. The quest is incomplete. Old crone only visits once and no need for it to visit again. The old crone is triggered by something other than just visiting the fortune teller. There is a bug for repeat attempts.

That’s the standard message you get for troops landing on Audrey before she’s started beating, probably what happened is the army that woke audrey got that message and all your subsequent ones got the different message for when they land while she’s already beating

Are you sure ? I thought the message you get every time is:
Rumours suggest that, after many deaths in the Corrupted Lands, the
contagion spreads to more surrounding lands. But there is no report that
following the loss of your units, the corruption has spread.
The one I posted looks slightly different.

Interesting concept for future rounds - at the lowest large volume sell price for siege blocks ballistas are cheaper than sentinels per XP
If they contribute to spreading tentacles we could pump catapults when not otherwise occupied to ramp Audrey up, then switch to faster training troops when there's a lot of corrupted squares to build up the XP to double trigger the heart

Let me see. Ballistas train 14.4 xp/hr vs Stals 26.5, so it definitely makes sense to switch to the fastest units for the final build up
Also there's no upkeep building for catas, so I think the price difference between continually trained Stals and Ballistas closes in 80 days if the Stals have one upkeep building. It looks like catapults are only especially good for kickstarting the next phase along with t1 scouts if you have towns without troop upkeep buildings
Building scout lookouts to support cranking T1 scouts, and then T2 when the shift to building up xp comes is probably a much bigger ROI

My bet was around the full moon as it's the most supernatural of all the phases, I hope a message appears shortly, she stops beating later into the day matching her time of waking up and then we get them escaping on the new moon. If not, I am baffled with how they managed to get a message 3 days in and actually progressed lol. It seems to increasingly do random stuff.

Very possible the feeding of the heart extends the window and something, like the temples, needs feeding to a bigger degree or something done to the temples ?

I haven't seen the mass feeding to the temples this time around that I have in previous times. Maybe a certain number of units need to spawn out of the temples. This time everyone was focused on feeding Audrey over the temples.
Of course all this just changes how long she beats it still doesn't help us figure out how to trigger the next part of the quest.

In the discord I had a massive conversation how it could lean to that, waking her up + a decent amount fed to the heart and then the feeding of the temples weakens her. The temples appear for a reason, I would very much doubt only to gain tentacles. Surely when they appear, they're apart of the next stage otherwise why do they not appear first for people to get tentacles and take part ?

As a minor update...
I sent 1 commander and my weakest dragon to Audrey, to see if the dragon unit would come back unscathed like what happens with the elemental troops. As far as I know this is the same message that I got when I sent to feed her... RIP dragon dude. He died for science.

Audrey Quest 2025-UPDATES
WE DID IT!!! Thank you to everyone who supported the quest and helped out with feeding millions of units to Audrey.
This is what has happened so far:
Nov 10 4:05 am Audrey woke up
Dec 19 2:18 am Players received the 2nd old crone visit – “the horror has stirred”
At this time, Audrey was still awake. Usually, she is awake for about 18 days, but she continued beating much longer this year.
Players who attempted the quest years ago also got the old crone
visit, and some in more than 1 town. One player got it in 11 towns and
another in 8. That is the most I’ve heard about. But not everyone got it
who had tried previously.
Also of note, kubluntu got the old crone visit in the original quest
town from 2014. He is the last remaining player who did the quest in
2014 and his tentacle town is still in the same location. On Dec 21, it
was noticed that tentacle was gone. Former town
locations with noxious spores and tentacles were also returned to
normal.
Dec 21 20:00 Audrey stops beating after 41 days, and for the first time, it was announced in GC.

Dec 21 20:01 Players received a new message saying The Heart falls silent, and towns were covered in noxious spores/mist.
What to expect and what to do:
We are in unknown territory now. But we do know that in 2014, the
tentacles escaped from towns on the new moon, after Audrey stopped
beating. The next new moon is January 18.
We need to keep the tentacles safe in our towns and not let them get
out. Surround towns with armies. We know that surrounding the tentacles
kept them from spreading, and we’re hoping it keeps them from getting
out too. But we don’t know for sure.
Reinforce towns with armies, and get your friends to help. You need friends to help.
Some players have vaults. No one had vaults in 2014, so it might help. We don’t know for sure.
Take notes on everything going on with your town, how many units you
sent to Audrey, how many units you sent to the temples, and anything
else that could be important. And please be willing to share your notes
because we have not solved the quest yet.

The following list is about 95% accurate as I failed to keep track of the early attacks. After the 2nd of December I kept exact records of all diplo's sent directly to the heart...
Initial troops sent arrived between 9th November and the 14th, after that I sent only t1 scouts in groups of 500.
Armies sent total around 1302570xp, they were t1 and t2 spears and t2 Swords. Diplos (mainly t1 scouts) sent before the 2nd December = 82260.
Then all attacks were 500 t1 scouts... 2/12 =28 3/12 =8 4/12 =12 5/12 =7 6/12 =8 7/12 =10 8/12 =14 9/12 =14 10/12 =10 11/12 =11 12/12 =10 13/12 =11 14/12 =11 15/12 =7 16/12 =10 17/12 =8 18/12 =10 19/12 =9 20/12 =12 21/12 =6
A total of 108000 t1 scouts in 216 missions over 20 days

If memory serves, in my previous illy life I had the tentacles and a vault but they still escaped.
Putting troops around city does stop tentacles growing around city.

He looks perturbed, and you beckon him to speak.
"My liege... I don't know how to put this.
I know you entrusted us to protect those foul and corrupted tentacles
deep within the city stores - a task we have not taken lightly.
However, my liege, they're... they're gone. Vanished."
He takes you to the stores to show you, and gestures to the once sturdy
but now partially broken glass jars that held each tentacle in
preserving fluid.
"See? They've been taken. We've searched the entire area, but it's
been more difficult than expected to see anything at this late hour -
the thief must've planned to do this under the cover of darkness, and
this foul unnatural fog!"
The quartermaster continues to talk as you survey the area - but a
sudden chill runs down your spine as you realise that the way the
shattered fragments of glass have fallen would suggest that they were
shattered from the inside of the jar.
"Anyway", says the quartermaster, "We'll continue our search
through the night and at first light tomorrow, though, don't you worry -
the entire guard is out looking for this foolish thief!"
You return to your study, deep in thought.

I did not receive the "chamber grows suddenly cold" message, but I did receive the "quartermaster" in all of my active cities.
My guess on early data is that the "chamber grows suddenly cold" message is due to a lack of a vault AND/OR a city in which at least 5 of each tentacle is NOT present.
I am setting up occupying forces around my cities. I'll put some thieves in there to see what happens. I'll also see if Duraz Karag has anything new to city in response to messengers and thieves.
Sounds like if you received either message that your tentacles are no longer in your town inventory? Does this hold for ALL cities? Even those not progressing in the quest? I still have tentacles in the hubs.

Another thread has the message for when you send to misted lands. "Within the fog they cannot see even an inch in front of their faces.
They blunder around for a while hoping for some break in the mists, but all in vain and they head home - defeated by the swirling, clammy, enshrouding air."
I assume it changes if its a quest city. Or something else.

Since I could not think of anything else to do, I sent some spies to each of the crags that stick out above the mist of the Misted Land. I did not see a square in the mist labeled as a lost/broken monastery or temple to send an occupying force to camp on. My spies arrive in a little over a day. Would have sent scouts too but diplo limiter got in the way

Just a quick note to say that I am not on the right stage of the quest BUT that since the mist disappeared, I decided to send an army or two now to the high peaks to see what would happen. It turns out that the mist still exists BUT its invisible mist. I got the blundering about in the mist message and the army turned right around as it used to do when the mist was there.
So now the methodology seems to have been solved, next time I will have a go if the gypsies come close enough to a city in the first place. One city did start the quest BUT I forget which one it was as it was years and years ago. And I have so many tentacles for the future (132h,177e,547d,57o).
I think the best way to deal with the potential upsets from armies/naps/confeds etc is to make a special 3rd stage quest alliance and put all the relevant questors in it temporarily. Next time.

Team, just jumping in on this one. There are no special modified peace of camp rules for the 14 Bleak Mountains in the currently de-misted Misted Lands -- they are functioning in the same manner as any passable map square.
Army encampments with NAPs have always enjoyed peace of camp in the same manner that confederated armies do.

There have been some scuffles on the TDF square, but nothing major. Claiming sov hasn't seemed to change anything for me. I did get a weird error when upping my sov claim to level 2, but I couldn't get it copied before it went away when i clicked a different screen

descending rapidly into the castle's courtyard below. The Captain of the

It isn’t long before the Captain bursts forth into your quarters, revealing the news.
“My liege, the most incredible news has reached us from our armies from 17 questing in the Misted Lands! Thanks to the friendship of the great eagles, we may finally behold the fruits of
our long quest mere hours after it was thus completed!”
With that, the Captain places the package on a nearby desk and unfurls a
dirty cloth to reveal the coveted Elven Spirit Bow – the first of its
kind that has ever been seen in your realm.
The Captain proceeds to read from an attached note:
“Sir, the most miraculous thing occurred this past evening, when the
Waning Gibbous moon came into its peak across the horizon. Our troops,
all wearied by the perilous journey and miserable conditions on this
peak, did what they could to slumber in the cold,
dank conditions.
As the glow from the fading moon cast down its delicate light, there
amid our camp, the Elven Spirit Bow appeared, its resplendent finish
reflecting the dying of the moonlight. Aside from what we thought were
the faint sounds of laughter, we saw no trace of
life, nor do we know how this thing came into our possession. My only
assumption is that we have proven our worthiness in repelling the
insidious force of the Heart of Corruption to the sublime forces that
seek to curtail it, and our grand city has been gifted
this incredible item.
It was my intention to guard this gift with my life and the full force
of our army as we planned to break camp and head home, until yet another
fantastic occurrence took place on this otherwise bleak mountaintop.
There appeared from the east a great eagle –
one of the mythical giant eagles of the Eaglesbrood – which I myself

and introduced herself as Soronel. 'The Eagles have sensed that a great
achievement has been made by those who inhabit these mountain peaks in

same light that you do in repelling the evil of the Corrupted Heart of
Kumala, we wish to aid you in safeguarding this precious gift. Should
you agree, I will transport it home to your city directly.'
At a loss for words upon being in the presence of such mystery and
wonder, I nodded wordlessly in agreement and Soronel took flight, the
'gift of ages' held carefully in her grasp.
I trust that it will arrive safely into your hands, so that you may deliver it thusly.”
At your command, the Captain carefully wraps the great item back up and
makes his way directly to the city's weaponsmiths so that they can learn
its craftsmanship and reproduce it for your commanders and elite
soldiers.”
