Several Steam users are reporting they can't log in, the game freezes after the initial screen

Several users in AC and GC report lag

And there are chat windows popping up with huge timeout messages

The Steam login issue got fixed about 2100 UTC yesterday.

The lag and timeout issues broadly occurred just after midnight, and were most likely a result of us doing a database clean up yesterday afternoon - at midnight, a lot of the batch procedures kick in, and they probably had quite a lot of work to do. Massive apologies, and I hope everything is back to normal.

Lesson learnt from that one is: when doing a major DB clear-out, schedule some downtime and don't attempt to do it on a hot, production, server!
