The Faction Play leadership is pleased to announce that Faction versus Faction sieges may now include the use of catapults! Please note that this new rule change only applies to opted-in, Faction versus Faction battles. Factions will never siege an opted-in Alliance player, as per the" rel="nofollow - Faction versus Alliance rules .

There are limitations to this rule change:
  • Maximum of 5 catapults and 5 rams/siege hooks in the siege army. (Army can also include support troops up to 5K worth of XP, excluding the commander).
  • Maximum of 1 concurrent siege army can attack a city at any given time.
  • Maximum of 1 siege can be launched on any Faction player at any given time.
Direct attacks on cities using siege equipment is also allowed, with these limitations:
  • Catapults cannot be used; only rams/siege hooks.
  • No more than 5 rams/siege hooks can be used per army.
  • Direct attacks using rams/siege hooks can only be directed at 1 Faction player's city at a time.
Factions and their players are prohibited from provisionally "opting out" of Faction Play in order to target and attack other Faction players in order to siege with no limitations on army size.

Violation of these rules will result in a fine commensurate with the severity of the infraction that the offending Faction will have to pay to the besieged player. Additional penalties may include: 1) suspension or expulsion of the offending Faction player from Faction Play, 2) suspension or expulsion of a Faction from Faction Play.

Our goal with this rule change is to make sieges more thrilling and engaging in the FvF sphere, without causing major destruction. Having a total of 5 catapults in a siege army is highly unlikely to bring a city down. That being said, there is now an opportunity for some catapult volleys to hit the city and make breaking the siege more of a priority for the defending Faction.
